Put up a damn picture of something fun you've been doing
skydude2000 replied to JohnMitchell's topic in The Bonfire
My Dad & I go slalom skiing in the morning before work in our back yard :) That's me before the water gets all choppy PULL!! or DIE!! -
I would recommend that you message Dave Hillebrandt on Facebook. He makes awesome risers, blocks, 2-to-1s, anything you want, he can make it. He can also make a kill-cone for your pilot chute if you need one. I think he was charging $150ish USD when I ordered mine last year. Good luck & CRW Skies!! PULL!! or DIE!!

Last I heard from an instructor who's flown in the tunnel, is that the official opening date has been pushed back to mid-May. They sure know how to build the anticipation PULL!! or DIE!!

Keep in mind that the 'A' license isn't a finish line. It's a starting gate that opens up a whole new world of learning and skydiving, and it's not a race. Lots of guys tend to get into this with a final goal in mind, pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, because they saw it on the Youtubez. Freeflying, Swooping, Wingsuit Base. What they don't see is the hundreds or thousands of jumps, and years of training it takes to get there. You wouldn't expect to win the Indy 500 after 7 times in a race car, or hours of playing racing games in front of a tv. This sport can and will kill you if you let it, no matter how good people told you you are. Learning on the ground is just as important as jumps, and tunnel flying is NOT skydiving. There is SO much more to a skydive than just flying your body. With that in mind, enjoy the jumps, learn as much as you can, and don't ever forget, this is supposed to be FUN. Blue Skies!!

Any canopy control courses being held in Toronto or Montreal?
skydude2000 replied to Keithor's topic in Safety and Training
Hi Keithor, I believe there is a PD canopy course being organized for September sometime at the Parachute School of Toronto. From the PST Facebook page: " Update!! Ian Drennan and JC need us to do 202 and 101 since that is the most requested second course. If you are in, please email money transfer $100 to me so I can lock this down asap! Oct 5th - 202, Oct 6 101. This is how it will work since the group with more people may need more time to complete jumps sunday. Hopefully not if we have two planes... !! " PM me if you would like the organizer's email address to get in on one of the courses :) PULL!! or DIE!! -
Hey guys, Thanks so much again for the tips! I think the event went off as well as can be expected for my f*rst meet. We had about have the number of competitors I expected, so I think next year, we'll ask to put a slot or two on account at manifest as a deposit for the registration. The coach, Katie Woods of Team Evolution, was great. Worked a lot with all of the teams, on exits, transitions, formations and positioning when we had a weather-hold on day 2. I'll need to hire some strippers for next year to attract more video guys. Thanks to Parachute School of Toronto for hosting, and being so awesome, Katie Woods for coaching, and putting up with my nonsense, Cliff Crawford, Chris Kula, Marc Pinault, Cody Wright, and Peter Aquilina for shooting video. I would also like to extend my thanks to all of our sponsors, for their generous support; Jeannie Anderson & Mirage Systems, Mark Klingelhoefer and UPT/Vector, Ulla at Merlin Suits, Linda Hardesty at Bonehead Composites, Redbull Canada, Adam Schmucker & SSK/Cypres, Candace Procos from Vigil America, Melanie Guerin from Skyventure Montreal, Chris Talbert from Sunpath Products Inc., Cliff Crawford & George from Firebird USA, Lauren Demme & Jeff King from Icarus Canopies, Rick Motl at Skydive Wings, Jenny Kron at Daredevil Designs, Mike Gruwell & Glen Hauenstein at Chutingstar for the awesome goodie-bags, Lesek Stachyra from Aerodyne Research Corporation, and CSPA for sponsoring the coaching!! Wow, I really didn't mean for this to sound like an Oscars Acceptance speech, but there you go. Hopefully we'll have an even better turn-out next year if I can get my shit together Thanks again to anyone else I may have forgotten. I expect to see ALL of you next year!! Blue Skies, Adam. Your instructors might not want you/let you jump a full-face yet. Coaches still like to see your eyes

Earliest age to start skydiving in all states
skydude2000 replied to accel's topic in Safety and Training
Thanks Jerry, I couldn't remember, but I meant wasn't there a thread or series of threads recently about the manufacturers changing the waiver with regard specifically to the harnesses or something, in the last year or three? I'm not a TI but vaguely remember reading something about it. But then, I'm getting old PULL!! or DIE!! -

Earliest age to start skydiving in all states
skydude2000 replied to accel's topic in Safety and Training
From the USPA website re: FAA 'The agency has the authority to impose fines and suspend or revoke certificates it has issued. In the case of a skydiving violation, the FAA can fine the pilot, rigger, jumpers, as well as suspend or revoke the certificates of pilots and riggers.' PULL!! or DIE!! -
Earliest age to start skydiving in all states
skydude2000 replied to accel's topic in Safety and Training
Wasn't there information released at one time from the tandem manufacturers about minimum age, too? I don't know if they have the authority to mandate the age of the passengers who use their harnesses, but if it's true that they stipulate a minimum age of 18, wouldn't the TM be risking his rating, and technically, the pilot risking his license, if that rule were bent/broken? No matter what the waiver, or the law says, or what country or state the jump is made in? I don't imagine too many DZOs, TMs or Pilots would be willing to risk that for $300 from a total stranger, compared with the potential liability. PULL!! or DIE!! -
When I did mine, I had to tie it up so I didn't step on it, running out the landing PULL!! or DIE!!
