I’m headed there for the week as well. Look forward to a beer with those of you who’ll be around!

Sounds like the springs might be loose. The springs in the G3 are basically rubber o-rings, and when they get too stretched out the visor acts as you describe. In my experience, the springs last quite a while so long as the visor is not left open. If you leave the visor open for an extended period (e.g. for days at a time) the springs can get loose. Sometimes just leaving the visor closed for an extended period gives the springs time to rejuvenate. If not, they need to be replaced. Since your helmet is new, if leaving it closed for a while doesn't resolve the problem, a call/email to Cookie is probably the best plan.

Thanks - looking forward to your review

I have worked with Garet Bloodworth in Rosemont for a few hours - I'd recommend reaching out to him.

anyone with experience to report yet?

Thanks for the detailed comparison Daniel! I've flown in Yonkers a few times now and definitely noticed the dead zone. The lack of a diffuser is in some ways even more noticeable. Looking forward to trying San Diego or similar designs. I wonder which version will be in Philly.

How does it compare to Yonkers?

judging only by a totally uninformed impression based on the construction site, I'd say at least a couple of months. They seem to be about done w/ the underground stuff.
-
Depends on what kind of confirmation you are looking for, I suppose... iFly has it listed as one of their new locations, the township approved the project (with an opening expectation set at the township meeting of late Nov 15), and as you can see from the photos I posted construction is well underway... Until I feel the wind, that's all I know, though :)

Thanks for the authoritative answer! While you're on the topic, any updates on MARD for Curv?

According to this Skydivemag article from PIA, the Curv 2.0 includes magnetic riser covers: http://www.skydivemag.com/article/new-curv-released

Progress (?) Report: there is now a fence around a small area. And four traffic cones. Photographic evidence attached.

FYI, they stated during the board of supervisors hearing that they intend to open in November 2015... That would be a fast build.

i hadn't heard about it, but after seeing your post i did a quick search and found this http://www.umtownship.org/index.aspx?NID=998 on the Upper Merion Township website which says that "Proposed construction of a 5,929 SF indoor skydiving facility in the parking lot of the existing Overlook at King of Prussia Shopping Center." was "Approved by the Board of Supervisors 2/26/2015" The plan is here http://www.umtownship.org/DocumentCenter/View/4647 Looking at the plans, the location will be here: https://www.google.com/maps/place/40°05'34.5%22N+75°24'04.0%22W/@40.092908,-75.401111,363m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0!6m1!1e1

Michele, There is a federal law related to maximum liability in the event of credit card fraud. The maximum consumer liability is $50 (most card companies, however, have a policy of $0) in the event that the consumer reports the fraud in a timely fashion. Since you clearly reported in a timely fashion, the maximum amount you could owe is $50, but more likely $0. You might try asking for supervisors until you get to a person who understands this. If all else fails, check out http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/credit/cards.htm The Federal Trade Commission has an 800-number and web site for consumer complaints. Mentioning that you are reporting the situation to the FTC might help you with the credit card company as well. One final strategy is to call the credit card company's corporate hq, and ask for the 'compliance' department. This is the group within the company responsible for compliance with law and regulation. They can go over the heads of the customer service people who are currently screwing you over. Good luck, Dave

The 'other' in that photo was none other than yours truly! First time my mug has been in Parachutist. I guess I owe Steve a beer, eh? Cheers... Dave

Now to count your firsts: 1st tracking dive 1st linked exit from a skyvan 1st time trashing someone with your burble :) How about 1st jump as a licensed skydiver? When the beer light went on, you were nowhere to be found :( just kidding, lets jump again soon... you going back out next weekend? Cheers... Dave

New IRS auditor, eager to make a name for himself, decided to review the tax returns of the local synagogue. He proceeded to interrogate the Rabbi, asking him what the Synagogue did with the wax drippings from the Shabbat,Havdallah and Chanukah candles. The Rabbi, pleased to show the auditor that nothing went to waste, responded that the used wax is collected and sent to a candle factory and they send the Temple new candles. What about the crumbs from the matzah you eat at Passover? Asked the IRS auditor. Simple, the Rabbi responded. We collect all the crumbs, send them to the matzah bakery and they send us matzah meal. All right, said the auditor, refusing to give up. I know that you're a moyel as well as a Rabbi. What do you do with the leftovers from the circumcisions? Easy, said the Rabbi. We send them to Washington, DC and they send us little pricks like you. Cheers... Dave

Alright Pammi (or maybe Merrick)... You have to tell the whole story for dz.com... I can't do it justice 3rd-hand, and 'your public wants to know!' Cheers... Dave

So............. I just got back from a couple of weeks on the east coast, jumping at Cross Keys on the weekends... One guy I was freeflying with starts telling this story about his recent trip to OSC... It all seems to revolve around this girl named Pammi, and a veritable plethora of shampoo... So, Pammi, it would appear that word of your shampoo has spread as far as New Jersey! Care to share the details? :) Cheers... Dave

248 for me as of yesterday... but no Quincy this year, too much going on. I'd like to make it next year. I've also heard that Long Prarie is out of this world. Anyone been? Cheers... Dave

I hear ya, brother... Yesterday was a blast for me as well. I woke up after not nearly enough rest, made a quick sleep vs skydive decision, and headed for the DZ. Since I hadn't done any bellyflying in about 60-70 jumps, I decided to hook up with Mark Brown (rw load organizer at Perris) for some chaotic entropy-filled skydives. To my amazement, flying skills are flying skills, regardless of body position. I got 8 jumps in, and made it into my slot relatively early (for me anyway) on all of them. Only two jumps involved me departing the dive plan for some 'improvizational flying.' One of the last jumps of the day way particularly cool... we had 9 jumpers, plus camera. We did a no-contact exit out of the otter, then built an accordian for the first point. 2nd point was an in-out round, which went to zippers for the 3rd. 4th point was a 'flying wedge' which we flew across the sky, right into the sunset, for the rest of the dive! Our camera flyer did some cool transitions, and the video was great... How about the rest of you? Good weekend jumping? Cheers... Dave p.s. I won't mention twisting my ankle _walking_ back in from the landing area. It hurt quite a bit for a few minutes, but apparently not bad enough to keep me from jumping the rest of the day... Very sore by sunset, but feeling fine today... Thanks for the Aleve, Michele!!!
