What was your most proud skydive day
DownWind replied to cocheese's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
With my limited time in the sport, I would have to say that my first solo jump after getting off AFF status was my proudest day in skydiving. It was a 5k hop & pop from a 182. edited for spellin -

I have to remind everyone to go catch Jersey Girl tonight..... Anyway, used to be a Jersey guy. Exit 36 off the parkway. -
Are you jumping this weekend, if so, I better be on my best behavior, although with Tim Dave around, I really have no worries.

Not sure where it is, but would love to visit. We can make a DZ.com trip and up the jump numbers for the DZ.

An ode to spring: Spring has sprung the bird is on the wing, but that's absurd because I've heard the wing is on the bird.

Right you are cocheese. Weegirl does rock, even if she want me to shift to the dark side.

I used to climb a good bit before I ccught the skydiving bug. I particularly like trad routes from 5.5 to 5.9. I need to get out more to climb, just can't justify not jumping.

I generally say bless you, although Gesundheit is also used. It is the proper thing to do. Same thing with our pre-exit rituals in skydiving, it is just the right thing to do.

If money was no object what would you do with 1 million dollars?
DownWind replied to Kiki's topic in The Bonfire
1) Pay off student loans 2) Give some to my parents to let them get a house down in Florida to retire in. 3) Move somewhere warmer than Michigan and buy a modest house. 4) Travel to SE Asia, Australia & New Zeland. 5) Invest the remainder. -
I would have to say that a 3% raise is not bad in the current economic environment. Many corporations are not only giving smaller amounts compared to 10 years ago, but they are also delaying raises or providing lump sum "bonus" payments in lieu of an annual raise. (read no future compounding). There are also a few corporations I am aware of that are reducing salaries. It is good to have a decent job right now. A 3% raise is acceptable.

Installation of RW collapsible pilot chute on RW D bag
DownWind replied to DownWind's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks PilotDave & LivnBored!! I put a bit of padding on my locking pliers, little pressure and convinced the stop block to slide through the grommet. Thanks again!! -

Thanks, I guess I will let my rigger have at this one since I am not going near the bridle with a pair of pliers. Thanks for the input! -
Installation of RW collapsible pilot chute on RW D bag
DownWind replied to DownWind's topic in Gear and Rigging
First I want to say that I will have my rigger check this at the DZ Saturday, but I can not help trying to do it myself for the learning experience. Does anyone have experience attaching a RW collapsible pilot chute to a RW D bag? Directions for the part I am stuck on are as follows: 4. Pull your bridle though the main bag grommet until the grommet is between the stop block on the outside of the bag and the stop block on the inside of the bag. I have to admit I feel like my 5 year old nephew trying to put the square peg in the circle hole. The stoppers are obviously meant to keep the bridle connected to the D bag, so it would make sense it is difficult to pass the stopper through the grommet. Anyone have a trick to putting the bridle stopper through the grommet? --- edited for spelling -

check it out in a few minutes. edited to say sky surfing. The preview clip was of wingsuits. Edited again to add summary of clip: The history channel did a good job with giving insight into skysurfing and wingsuit flying. No drama showing the sport in a bad light. Vary well done.
