  1. Woohoo, can't wait! I hear that there may be a balloon or 2 also.
  2. Yep, Jimmy Olander is a pretty cool guy, good skydiver too. He came to our little dz about 5 months ago and did a 3-way with BikerBabe and myself on the 1st load of the day.
  3. When is it available and for how long?
  4. I completely agree with you. I have met more skydivers that are engineers than any other profession. I do a lot of scheduling for my dz and I also return far more phone calls from engineers than anyone else. Definitely more than the 9.7% USPA shows.
  5. You're not, I stow mine the same way...it's worked fine so far.

    IQ's

149 in 8 minutes that can't be right. I would never score that high.
  7. This thread should be deleted.
  8. I've had my Wings which I ordered new, for over a year now and love it. It's very comfortable, safe and I got a smokin' deal on it at Para-Service. Also Wings customer service is outstanding. I had to send mine back for a slight modification and they gave me a free repack and had it back in about a week,
  9. Currently recovering from a broken tibia from sliding into a truck on my first night jump 3 weeks ago. I hope to be back in the air in 2 weeks. It's not that bad as far as breaks go.
  10. Front Range Skydivers in is a great place to learn. It's in Calhan near Colorado Springs. Check it out. They have something for everybody.
  11. My 2nd and 3rd s/l jumps were very scary. I kept asking myself why I was really doing this but that feeling began to diminish after about 16-18 jumps. Strangely enough I had I a reserve ride on my 38th jump and that wasn't too scary at all, I just automatically went to my emergency procedures. Night jumps are a different story though, I just did my first night jump 2 weeks ago and that was, how should I say, quite invigorating and now I'm sitting here on dz.com with a broken ankle from that last night jump. I expect there will be a bit of nervousness on my next jump in 6-8 weeks.
  12. Heineken is nasty skunk beer, Heineken dark is worse.

    Blondes

    Another old urban legend.

    Weekend Numbers

2:1:1:1 2 jumps, 1 night jump(1st), 1 broken tibia(1st break), 1 case of beer for the night jump which I didn't get to drink due to the trip to the ER for x-rays and cast. The night jump was mostly fun until the landing with overcast skies lightning in the distance.
  15. It never worked for me either.
  16. That is definitely "One sick bastard". I just hope he stays north of the border.
  17. Last year we were jumping a C-205 with no door. And while the TM was explaining the upcoming jump to his passenger he told her this and with an extremely quizzical expression she asked " Well how will we jump out ?" It actually took a about 5 seconds for the TM to realize she actually what she meant.
  18. Like everyone else has said, count yourself lucky that you learned a few important lessons without hurting yourself or anyone else. And since you feel like an "ant" right now, you're much less likely to repeat those mistakes.

    What's good?

I love that sig line...short, but we all know how much it means.
  20. Rafting can be a blast if you have some good class IV or better water. Sit in the front for the most action. I have a 10 man whitewater boat that I usually use every summer but this year most of the rivers are at a 100 year low. Haven't dipped a paddle once this year. Just like skydiving, be sure to smile and have fun.
  21. Yeah, I saw it. No I didn't record it. Incredible walls those guys were jumping off of. Overcoming the depth perception from that frozen white ocean must have been tough.
  22. Lance is doing damn good for this early in the race. Let's hope for no crashes and his usual strong showing in the mountains. His autobiography is well worth reading also, what he has overcome is unbelieveable.
  23. I bought my Spectre new and now I have about 50 jumps on it loading it at 1.2 at 5200msl. I like the canopy even more now than when I first got it. The openings are nice, consistent and on heading whether flat packed or PRO packed and the canopy is forgiving of a sloppy pack job. I will definitely keep even if I decide to go with a high performance nine cell in the future.
