You know damn well he was using the 45° rule, not counting before exit. I can't recall how many heated discussions I've had with others about this same topic. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Depending on how tall you are, try and locate a Javelin J8 W/ a 280 sq.ft Main canopy. That would put your wing load at: 1:01:1 which should be safe and provide you a controlled & safe canopy flight. Most rigs (even mine) are TSO'd at 300 lbs, heck of a safety factor. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Nothing more than my opinion. We're not that far apart, at least we're no so far apart that you have to mouth off about my reply to the OP. Mind your business please, so you wont be minding mine. Thank you. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Yeah, that was the feeling I had. I just threw that out there so they can smoke it over and think about another stradegy to land the thing after all the foolishment has taken place. I doubt seriously this is the last time they'll do it. If they keep it up, we'll be reading about it in the Incidents Forum. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Which makes you more safe: A restraining order, or a gun?
rwieder replied to JohnRich's topic in Speakers Corner
Your home is your iminent domain. Should an uninvited intruder break in your house, threatning to cause discomfort or make you feel threatned he belongs to you. A restraining order isn't worth the paper it's wrote on. It's a joke. It's not just real hard to walk through a protectective, or restraining order. These summons don't manage to do anything but cause more trouble in the end game. And remember the old adage: (I'd rather be judged by 12, than to be carried by 6) -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall" -
Those types of flight are generall looked down upon. Too many good people have been injured, crippled & malled, even killed. By the way, why did you cut your main away? You barely had enough altitude to recover with your reserve. NEVER cut away a good canopy. You could just as easily had your driver slow down and land the main canopy normally, a dissconnect from your umbilicle to the source of towing would also allow you to fly & land the canopy. I wish you the best. But I part you with a few words from an old man. Don't do this foolish crap, that is unless you think you're immortal. Be safe & don't do any silly crap and you'll live through it, if not....Hmph..... -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

The first canopy I ever had that was mine: 7 cell Triathlon 210, the second canopy: 7 cell Triathlon 190; My third canopy: PISA Hornet 170, 7 cell semi elipitacal. All of them opened great & flew well. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Please don't get me wrong, I have experienced loss of my own, I know how it feels. I do however think you're overreacting to his job at the DZ. I'm very sorry for your loss. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

No, never. When I was a kid (90 years ago) we used to drink like Vikings. I just got sick & tired of being sick & tired. Well having 4 kids will make you review life as well. The use of alcohol after the "beer light" goes on especially on a Saturday night is what keeps me from staying on the DZ after hours & sky diving on sundays. I observed a TM1 at a DZ near me (Yeah, you know who you are) puking his guts up into a barf bag, generally reserved f/ the tandem passengers. Consequently he made an ass out of him self, was grounded for the day, and the tandem passenger didn't get to jump on that particular jump run. This TM1 is a real prod. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Eventually the DZ's are going to have to step up their efforts to puch programs such as this one. I'm a firm believer (If I were the DZO) that a PJSM, JSA would be held each jumping day. (PJSM: Pre Jump Safety Meeting) (JSA: Jump Safety Analaysis) That way everyone is on the same page while under canopy & on jump run. I've been missed by no less than 2 feet by 2 skydivers who was still in freefal while I'm under a SSS canopy while some jack-ass is getting his rocks off pushing the envelope and getting all of the ground rush he possibly can. When I was training years ago we had one guy who wouldn't pull until a 1,000 AGL then having a 2 second canopy ride, while he's thinking he's cool. I'm calling BS on all of the skydivers who pull this BS. It's selfish, careless & ignorant on their behalf. They only care about getting what they want f*ck anybody else. I have approached a couple of skydivers who have pulled this crap on me and told them if they did that around me again, somebody's getting an ass whooping, maybe me, maybe them. Sad but true, it's the only language they understand. We can either police ourselves, or be policed by the USPA. Which do you prefer? Please give what I've said some thought. Thanks for listening, and may God Bless each & every one of you. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Buy youself a baggy jumpy jump suit with some swoop cords, that way you will learn how to adjust your fall rat to match others. Bev makes such a jumpsuit as does Tony. Good Luck, Take care & may god bless you & yours. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Listining to music in freefall..............BAD IDEA. How ever someone got this in your mind, please don't do it. It's a bad habit & it will surely lead to someone's death, maybe even yours. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Aubrey: You know what your limitations are, and if I know you as well as i think I do: 1) You have the self confidence any skdiver has, or will ever have" I'm 265# out the door myself and I'm flying a 179 sq' foot', Icarus 149 Sq. Canopy. Yeah it's fast but you learn to live with it. The one problem I have is all of the bad first impressions and idocy i see at the DZ. Chris Miller at the dropzone in SkyDive Rosharon, Texas. With his expertise, i"ve jumped and am not by any chance intimated by the main canopy, period. Aubrey, you've recieved a lot of PM's from me, whether you perused them or not is up to you. But please by all means, feel free to contact me at 512.585.5197. While I think you may, or may not converse with me, That's up to you. In any event, fly safe and God bless you & yours. Tell me where you are, and I'll be glad to make an appoint with you and give you the benifut of everyone's fears to the side. (My dime, my nickle) If I can educate you, then you in turn teach others what you know, then we will have both made skydiving history. You take care champ, God Bless! Together we can, and will save the Sky Diving sport & the negative things that have been going along the lst 10 years of my skydiving career. The more we learn, the more knowledge we can pass down th the lives of non jumpers, and jumpers who have just got licensed and don't know where to go from that point in their carrers. YOU can make a difference, as can I, but I can't do it by myself, I'm sure you understand. Aubrey, Take care, be safe & May God Bless You & Yours. By the way, buy a military rig to jump with until other oppottunities become available to you. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Lisa: I'm quite sure your reasons for your actions are you're own, so it don't make any difference who says what about it. I quite understand and respect why you're doing what you're doing and IMHO you don't owe anyone an explanation. You take care, God bless. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

If youu bought the rig either through an individidual, or the manufacturer, It doesn't matter. A new main lifting web is exactly $400.00 with new side panels, mud flaps, logos, my name etc...$400.00 No big deal at all. Be sure to inclue haveing tha main inspected, and the reserve as well. Very good worman ship too I may add. Good Luck, Be Safe, and remember always land into the wind! -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Why do you say that? There's no proof of what you say. "Faith" is the things hoped for, and not seen. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

Yahweh is a name from mythology. Jehovah is a name from mythology. Satan is a name from mythology. Thor is a name from mythology. Nythical this and Mythical that. The truth is I know what & who my saviour is, it"s Jesus Crrist Jesus, the son of man. 1/3 of the TRI_UNION God. Don't kid yourself, judgement at the fest of God's wrath is not something to be looking for. Please rethin your thought that all may be weel with you. -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"
