The only problem with that attitude is, if things go to hell, an organization exists that is going to do everything it can help you. Despite your feelings or desires, they will launch in whatever conditions they have to try to pull you out of your trouble. Your desire to be in the middle of it, will put their lives on the line, and they will do that gladly. They are a very effective organization, but occasionally, they end up paying the ultimate price. If you get down to the bottom of that list, I knew Bob Carson and Mike Dollahite. They were great people with wonderful families. Would that have any effect on you or would you just assume it was the price of doing business? Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

We have a little, half full bottle of my Gramma's ashes decorated in a very festive manner with red and green ribbon and felt. It always says Christmas to us. Here's the thread from when I lost my first 101. A lot of those people said go 105. I never had a problem with either 101, but then again, I also don't know what I am missing by not having a 105. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

I had a 101, had a 101 stolen, bought another 101. Fun, easy camera to operate. You can find just about any lens you want for it. I use a .4 for RW, but also have a 2. for when I am not skydiving. Not sure you would want a .4 or any wide angle for snowboarding. It uses a 30 mm thread so either get a 30 mm lens or an adaptor. Either way it works well. Not sure if they are still making them, but they pop up on eBay from time to time. Good Luck. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

Totally agree. It always amazes me how, in a sport that prides itself on the individualism of its base, there are so many willing to stand up and ask for more legislation. The very reason Matt may still be alive is because he got training, read books, talked to those who went before him, and did everything else we call education. If you know the risks and how to avoid or ameliorate them, you are going to be much better off at 3000 feet than if you are only armed with an iron clad BSR. Shit happens. Had a heat pump when I lived in MD and it was worthless in the winter. Then again, I had one when I lived in Al, and at times, it was even too cold for it there. If you can, heat with natural gas. I think Mark Twain once said, "The coldest winter I ever experienced was a summer I spent in San Francisco with a heat pump." Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

Could not agree more. One reserve ride and I was sitting under it at 1900 feet. Probably had the time to play with my main a little to see if I could work it out. Then again, maybe not. I never intend to play with a bad canopy. I pull high enough that I believe I can evaluate and chop a bad one and get a reserve out so that it won't be a problem. Checking your altitude below 1000 feet without a good canopy above your head is wasting time you don't have. "Bad news doesn't get better with age." "The low altitude record can never be broken, it can only be tied." Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.

Yep, this was from when they were at Ft Devens, MA in the mid to late 70's. Basically it was a jump club for the 10th and I was one of two members who were not SF. Jumped with guys such as Lee Borden, Mel Lyles, Archie Uttley, Carl Franquette, JD Jones, Dickie D Pirtle, Marshall Buck, Buck Harrison, and Steve "Otter" Ottesen. Subsidized $5 jumps and once a month a free Huey at Turner DZ. The $5 jumps were at Pepperell when it was owned by Jimmy Reid and the only aircraft they had was a Cessna 182. Did a road trip once to Orange MA to jump the Twin Beech. Tried two shots at an 8-way and would have gotten, if we could have gotten the base together. Bell helmets, tight, black, no gripper, two zipper jump suits, and French jump boots. It was a different world. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
