  1. I found a couch going out holding you, and then telling/changing your position while holding you head down, then letting go worked well with me.
  2. Can you right click on the link, save as, then change the extension then?
  3. You mean, like rip off and re edit other people's music? I'm not sure about what reccord companies have similar agreements but it is 100% legal to use Warner music for youtube videos http://www.youtube.com/blog?entry=3xDEdJmPDI0
  4. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=HDRCX7&LOC=3
  5. I think the main reason is that most people jump with a lens, and it hasn't got a thread.
  6. I thought the CX6/7 had problems because of the optical image stabiliser? Is this not the case? Also I herd today that the HC9 actually parks the lens when the stabiliser is off unlike the HC7. So back to my original questions are the newer cameras, HDV or memory sticks suitable for skydiving in gerneral including freeflying?
  7. Any chance of posting a relevent link then? Or one that in some way answers my question?
  8. I was wondering if the HC1, HC3, HC5 would be in high demand in the future for skydiving? Am I correct in assuming they are the only High Definition cameras that are suited for skydiving(including freeflying). All the newer sony cameras or other makes have optical image stabilisers which makes them bad for freeflying or are small, compact and don't have a thread for a lens. Is it worth getting HC5 now for use in the future?
  9. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! That looks quite good, but the terms of the conditions make it look like that is the ultimate best case example that isn't likely to be achieved. Anyway I wish Bedford would do something like that, or hmm I could move to Raeford....
  10. I thought the HC7 didn't work well for skydiving due to the optical image stabilizer?
  11. Ask him what he wants. I usually hate people getting me something since it's usually the wrong type, etc. e.g. People know I like whisky, so they buy me a JD, but I hate JD. He may be planning to go HD or have something in mind. Some people don't like the newer sony range and would prefer to buy a PC range second hand. The only way to get him what he wants is to ask him.
  12. I know the sit flying is far more exhausting from first hand experience. Last time I was at the tunnel I told my instructor in the last 2min I want to do some formation stuff on my back, but he just called me a pussy and put said we were going to sit fly, I couldn't hold the sit for more than a few seconds before transitioning(falling) onto my back. The breakdown is only 14min freeflying tomorrow, and I plan to spend most of that working on transitions between belly and back. The hour of time is spread over 12 hours. So it should be okish, but I still know at the end of the day I'm going to be in a world of pain.
  13. I know that everyone suffers from the body ache/pain after any tunnel session of a reasonable length. But I've never herd of people taking painkillers for the pain. Is it something people do? Has anyone tried, does it make much difference. A quick google search gives contradictory results. I would have assumed ibuprofen would work well, as well as opiate based painkillers. What about acetaminophen (paracetamol)? I have over an hour of serious 4 way and some freeflying tomorrow, and was wondering if painkillers could make it more bearable to move once I finnish.
  14. The test I was told by an instructor was to pull on the bridle and see if all the bridle extracts from the BOC neatly before the pilot chute comes out. If you somehow pack it so that the pilot chute and bridle come out together when you pull on the bridle then that is bad. I think the reasoning is if the air catches the bridle and starts pulling it, you want to make sure you have the best chance of having a simple premature and not have a horseshoe or a tangled pillot chute. I guess it would be easier and clearer if you asked an experienced instructor about the pilot chute.
  15. I've been wanting to find ways to reduce how long it takes me to pack. Today I saw the PD video on how to pack and realised that there were quite a few things they do that I don't, but also a few things I do that they don't do. Their seem to be soo many different ways and variations people use to pack. People seem to stick to some kind of degree to how they were taught how to pack. So even riggers and instructors pack differently. So what are the crucial steps in packing, how can you reduce you the time to pack without significantly increasing the risk of a malfunction. Also what are common things people do while packing that doesn't actually help or even has a negative impact.
  16. I would like a FF2/FF3 style helmet but with the camcorder located on top. So you have the enclosure to reduce snag points, plus it is on top out of the way of the risers. I guess it would mean a stills camera couldn't be fitted on..
  17. I was wondering what does the slow motion footage of skydiving look like. When trying it on the ground the quality looks very crap. I was wondering if it looked any better in the air,(more light¿). I plan on trying to film someone opening. I've tried looking and asking but can't find any footage. Is it just going to be a wasted jump?
  18. Is that a common practise of having a load like that after a 13k H&P? That sounds very dangerous whatever safety measures you take.

  20. Can you explain this statement a little? As far as I understand, the material appears to be black because it absorbs all the light wavelengths in all the visible light spectrum. White fabric reflects the incident light evenly throughout the spectrum. Well, the colour that we see is an indirect indication of what the reflectivity/absorptivity of UV, as UV is not in the visible spectrum, but is close to violet. So you say if the fabric absorbs all the visible light, it is LESS prone to UV damage? If anything I'd think it would heat up more as you're flying it under the sun, but you also get nice aircooling effect
  21. I just kind of assumed for editing the footage, doing effects etc, rather than having to deinterlace the footage first.
  22. Has anyone tried the Sony Cinematic mode 24p, on the new HDV cameras? What is it like in skydiving, I quite like the idea of having progressive video rather than interlaced.
  23. Have you actually jumped in the UK in winter? The BPA would never let skydiving die, since it is the best way to attract people to the wind tunnel. There has been discussion of renaming the BPA to BWTSA (British Wind Tunnel Simulator Association), but was rejected on the grounds of the acronym being too long. I like the wind tunnel, it's great fun. I do wind tunnel simulators now and then, but in winter it gets really, really cold. I have a wind tunnel simulator quite close by but it uses a plane and that is terrible for the environment and takes ages just to do one minute. Also wind tunnel simulators are very unpredictable, you may spend all weekend there and not do any time at all. I enjoy freefall aspect the most and the wind tunnel is ~7 cheaper than skydiving in that regards. I can't agree on the fact that the wind tunnel takes people away from the drop zone. The main reason is cost, most skydivers can't afford to spend much time at the tunnel. And you can do 40 minutes in one evening and that's it. To do the equivalent amount in skydives is quite a few weekend.(weather depending) EDIT: Nearly forgot to say the most important reason why the wind tunnel is a million times better than skydiving. You don't need to pack!!!!!
  24. They are good rigs. Some of the features are better than anything else out there. How did you get the rig for soo cheap? The only problem with them is the massive wait.
