Hi !
I did a Tandem jump last year and I of course got immediately hooked. I decided to take it a level further and start my AFF course this season.
I have been rained out the last 3 weekends but yesterday I was finally able to go (my wife said that she was thankful for the change in weather as she was getting ready to kill me )
What a rush !!! AFF is a trillion times better than being a Tandem passenger but also more stressfull. The whole time in freefall I more or less felt like I was watching myself. I knew exactly what I had to do and when I was supposed to do it but for some reason I had a very hard time with the altimeter. I mean, I could read it clearly and see the numbers but my brain must have been left in the plane because I was unable to translate those numbers to altitude. So I got the finger (love that expression) when we reached pull altitude... Oh well....
The canopy ride was really fun. I like that part almost as much as I like freefall. The landing was ok, slid in on my butt but it was not a hard landing at all. Unfortunately my video guy was not able to film the landing as he had a SEVERE linetwist and by the time he had it untangled he was landing off the dropzone (in the Video I can actually hear him cursing at the canopy ).
I can not wait to get up again and this time actually concentrate more on the altimeter.
Thank you for letting me ramble here as everybody in my family and all of my friends run away from me as soon as I mention skydive. Ha ha ha !
Blue skies,
Christian
