I did my first 2 stack a few weeks ago, then a few jumps later we made a biplane, and last sunday I did my first 4 stack which went beautifully. I love doing crw, can't wait to get the guts to try a side by side and downplane. Going to do a few more biplanes first though. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

The first thing that stood out about this helmet is how comfortable it is. It's so soft and cushy inside! It looks a lot better than that old surfing helmet you've been wearing for 5 years, is reasonably priced, and best of all, the delivery time is fast! I'm not jumping camera yet, but when I do they're going to modify the helmet I already have to fit a camera. Easy. In short, the Hookr is extremely comfy, well priced, quick delivery and looks awesome. I wouldn't expect anything less from a Hookr. Once you see it and put it on it speaks for itself really.

I'm a vet nurse and we have one client in our clinic with 2 of these cats. They are an extremely feisty breed as far as I have seen, but I also dont know much about them. Both these cats need sedatives for the vet to get near them, having said that, the owner is a little weird, so I wouldnt be suprised if their temperament relates to her freakish upbringing. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

In the skies above Picton Sydney - my video
nael replied to br0k3n's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nice video Oli! Hopefully Rusty will be able to watch the video for himself sometime soon. Trav, welcome to Picton. I'll be at the dz on saturday, I have short blonde hair (that basically sums it up since there's no other girls there with short blonde hair). My name's Nicole. If you see me, come say hi! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store -
Oi, what's going on here?? Beer and I'm not invited??? Lainey, of course I'll be ther Sunday, I'm staying at the dz all weekend, although I dont have many jump tickets. But yeah, thanks for the invite guys!! Now now, no excuses, my heart is already broken. Dave, during 4 way next weekend I'm gonna kick you in the face for this.......plus, I already owe you a freefall kick in the teeth! Edited to add: I just realised certain Aussies hijacked this thread. You bastards. Damn Aussies. I'll apologise on their behalf because they are rude bastards. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

1) what made you start jumping / how you became interested? I was one of those people who always swore they would never jump out of an airplane, then I did a tandem when I was on holidays in feb this year. I only did it because I realised how much it scared me, and I hate thinking there's something I can't do, so I made myself do it. 2) How long have you been jumping? How many jumps do you have? Started AFF 6 months ago, 85 jumps. 3)What method of training did you do? AFF. 4) how has skydiving changed you life? I no longer have a social life outside the dz. If I spend a saturday night away from the dz I am either too tired to stay out all night because I jumped all day, or too poor to afford drinks. I'm also pleased to say I've met some of the nicest, friendliest people I've ever known at the dz, people who in normal day to day life I probably never would have met. I love how skydiving has people from all walks of life and how (for the most part) they can get along. When I'm under canopy on a sunset load nothing else matters, and that's why I love this sport so much. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

I generally do about 10km/hr over the speed limit. Unless it's a highway with a fast speed limit anyway. Oh, and if it's a really slow speed limit I might do 20km/hr over. Obviously it depends on the road and how many people are likely to be around, I'm not going to speed past a school or shopping centre. I have 2 speeding tickets in the past 5 or 6 years. Of course, neither were my fault! The first one I thought the speed limit was higher than it was, I saw the cop car with plenty of time to slow down, but I didnt slow down because I thought I was doing the speed limit. That sucked. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

"Snivelling at 4000 Feet": A Friend's First Jump Essay
nael replied to craichead's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's an awesome write up! One of my best friends did a tandem to see what all the fuss was about - she didnt like it much either. She said it was ok, but not worth the money. Her ears hurt during freefall apparently. She doesnt understand why I spend all my money jumping, and I dont understand why she doesn't spend all her money jumping! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store -

I met a couple of mine at bars. One was a backpacker, another was leaving the country a month after i met him (for a year) so with both of them it was obvious it was nothing more than sex. Another was a friend of mine, we talked about it before we did it so we both knew where we stood. I got attached to one of my FB's, and in the end turns out he got attached to me too, but then I realised I like the thrill of the chase more than the actual catch, so I ended the whole thing. You dont. You have to keep reminding yourself what you're doing, and reminding yourself they dont care about you. Simple as that, if you start to care about them, end it. Lastly, do as I say, not as I do! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

I want to try stalling with rear risers this weekend. I just wanted to know before I did it if there's anything I should know before trying this. Obviously, I will talk to some instructors before I do it also. I read that it takes longer for the canopy to recover from rear riser stalls, as opposed to toggle stalls - is this true? Anything else I should know?? www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

I've done this a few times, and I just wanted to point out to some people that 'friends with benefits' arent always ex's. Actually, I've never gone back to an ex like that. I met one guy about 3 weeks after i'd had my heart absolutely broken by a boyfriend, this guy was only going to be around for 4 months - perfect. I have found that a lot of the time feelings get involved and mess things up, but that's the risk you take. You just have to decide if it's worth it. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

How often you jump depends on the money you have to spend on it. Some people jump daily, some once a week or month. I started jumping in april - i have 59 jumps now. I have a friend that started 2 months before me, he did his 300th last weekend! I wish I had his money! Don't let too much time elapse between jumps, because as a student, and low time jumper you need to stay current. The more experienced jumpers can tell you more about currency in jumping though. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store -
You're not going to the Whitsundays! You're only going as far north as Cairns. Sucks to be you....so close to the whitsundays - yet so far. See, at least for me - I'm a long way away from there, but if I was going to Cairns, I'd sure as hell be going to the Whitsundays too! Oh well, I guess I'll just spend another weekend jumping - looks like you wont get to do your usual 2 days packing this weekend (or next weekend). Maybe one day you'll start actually jumping again! hehe Have fun in Cairns! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

I'm going to go to this party at Laineys place, cause her place rocks, and she's providing the alcohol. Once my hangover has gone, I'll head to Airlie beach (north qld). Nothing better than cruising around the Whitsunday islands for days, only to get back to the mainland and party for a week straight - with some jumps in the middle of course! Ahhh, if only had money (that I didnt spend on jumps!). www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

I induced line twists on my PD 170 (wl abouy 0.8:1) on my first jump on it. Buried a toggle, let it up fast, and buried the oposite one. I'd always done this on the bigger canopies I jumped, but evidently my 170 doesnt like it. We get along fine now, but it scared the hell outta me on that first jump! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

Once you've watched Two Towers you have to watch Return of the King, you cant finish watching halfway through the story! I've seen the fellowship about 15 times, two towers about 10 times, and return of the king only 3 times. I have all 3 on dvd, the first 2 are limited edition box sets. I'm slightly obsessed! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

It's actually set for 500' above my hard deck, and if I heard it, I'd still go for my main, unless I was at or below 1500' when i deployed. Plus, there's the first warning altitude set at 3000' because I cant set it any lower (but after thinking about it I doubt I would set it lower even if I could). If I'm still in freefall at that altitude (and have not broken off from the rest of the group) I have enough time to react. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

Your reserve is your last chance. To take that chance knowing you have a good chance of having a fully functional main (that you just decide not to use) is not too smart. If this guys reserve had malfunctioned and he went in would you still argue that he didnt make a stupid move? Obviously in your friends situation, he had no way to deploy the main, therefore had no choice but to deploy the reserve. The 2 situations are not comparable. Now, for the disclaimer. I am very new at this, but this seems so obvious that I feel like I've missed something in what you wrote. If I did, I will accept a well deserved, swift kick up the ass! www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

Yeah, they told me to set it just below break off, just below pull height, and at my hard deck. Then we had the discussion of someone with under 100 jumps with an audible (some of them think it's a bad idea), and I basically came to the conclusion I'd leave it set for my hard deck and that's it. Do you think I'd be better off setting it just below break off and pull aswell? I'm open to opinions, I just thought setting it like this until I get a few more jumps would be a good idea. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

I have only just started jumping with a pro track. I had it set for 4500 (break off), 3500 (deployment) and 2500 (500' before hard deck), but after speaking to a few instructors who basically said not to rely on it to remind me to do anything I now only have it set at: 3000 - only because you cant set a pro tracks first warning any lower than 3k. 2500 - 500' above hard deck. I then have about 2 seconds to make a final decision and respond as I hit my hard deck. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store

Should students be allowed to use audibles?
nael replied to lewmonst's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree with this. I did my first 5 jumps today with a pro track. After a lot of discussion with my instructors I decided it'd be smartest not to set it at all for break off etc, and just set it at my hard deck. I definately dont want to start relying on it, but if I need a wake up at my hard deck then I'd rather it be there so I can kick myself about it later rather than become a statistic! (although I do have a cypres - which I also dont want to rely on!) On this topic also, I have a friend with about 18 jumps who told me he couldnt see his alti in freefall today (I think he said someone had taken a grip on his hand and covered it) so he "waited for his pro track to go off so he knew when to track". I was suprised people put this much trust in an audible (but I guess it happens often). Hearing things like this makes me think students, or even people with under 100 or so jumps should only have an audible if it's set to the hard deck only. www.TerminalSports.com.auAustralia's largest skydive gear store -
