  1. I don't plan living near the place were i've done my two tandems at for the next 3 years. (away at college with no plans on goin home) Thanks for the reply though. Happy Trails
  2. I've read most of this thread, although it is kind of long and I might of skimmed over the stuff at end. I found it pretty interesting because it kinda pertains to me also. I've done two jumps (both tandem) and am looking to get my license this summer. The kink is i'm 6'2'' and weigh about 265. Would normal dropzones be able to accomidate me or am I going to have to make alternative plans. I'm loosing weight but I am vegetarian so I can't really go on any super weight loss plans (Atkins is not an option). I consider myself in decent shape. I rock climb, bicycle alot and generally am not a couch potato. Anyone have any opinions. The two dropzones I have in mind are ether skydive new england (before end of may) or Skydive Smokey Mountains. Does anyone know if these two dz could accomidate a student of my weight? Thanks Ray Happy Trails
  3. Yeah being just naturally big sucks. I'm 6' 2'' and just a big guy. I do have a beer belly which is what I want to loose so hopefully I can get to 225. I was 250 when I did my first two jumps. They let me get away with it for the tandems (don't know why) but said I would need to get to 235 once I was doing solo jumps. How strict are most DZ? Happy Trails
  4. I don't have the cash to drop all at once on the package deal. If I can find a job when I get back to school (i'm on break right now) I might be abel to afford one AFF jump a week. That gives me eight weeks which equals eight jumps. I guess as long as I don't have to repeat a level I could do it. That is if I can drop some weight before april. The weight limit is 220 right? Thanks Happy Trails
  5. Got a question. This season I wnat to go through AFF and get my A licensce. Currently I'm at school in maine about 45 min from skydive New England. Starting June 1st I'll be living in NC about 45 min from Skydive Smokey Mountains. I'm real bad at saving money so pretty much want to jump as I have it. Would it be a bad Idea to start jumping at the beginning of the season in maine and then finish the AFF program down in TN? The reason is since I'm bad at saving if I start earlier in the season I have a better chance of getting all the way through A licencse requirements before I move back to school. If I wait till I'm in TN I would probably have to finish A license back in Maine at the tail end of the season with a lot less money available (need to find job). Any Ideas on how I should approach this. Thanks for the help. Ray Happy Trails
  6. Thought I would say hi and tell a bit about myself. Umm, lets see. I'm 20 years old and a Biology Student at University of Southern Maine. I like all things outdoors. I have jumped twice both tandem. My first jump was just testing it out. My second jump was part of the AFF program but due to a wet spring last year and lack of funds I only made it through the one jump. This winter and springl I'm planning to loose a crap load of weight (any sugestions) so I can go through the student program again this summer and work on getting an A license. I'll be working at NOC (Nantahala Outdoor Center) in NC about 87 miles from Skydive Smokey Mountains which is where I plan to get my training. Anyone from the area, or frequent that drop zone? Well sorry for making this so long. I loved my frist two jumps and it is something I think about everyday. It is inspring me to finially get my plump ass into shape ( being 6' 3'' and overweight for my height really puts me over the 220 mark for skydiving, so I got my work cut out) Thanks for reading.
