Using a cameye or hypeye with a Sony HC46
idoru99 replied to skyknight32's topic in Photography and Video
LANC port is what the Cameye is plugged into. I don't believe the HC46 has one (off the top of my head). The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take. -
There is a way to have the visor open in freefall, a friend's visor opened in freefall when the locking mechanism (the part on the visor) came off. The screws loosened themselves and he lost everything in freefall. I'm in no way badmouthing the Mamba, I love mine and he loves his. Bonehead also sent replacement parts to him at no charge as soon as they heard about it. The helmet is great, very comfortable and great field of vision. I'd second getting another if mine met with unfortunate circumstances. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

I'd def recommend the collapsable pilot chute. Even on a 168, there will be a difference. Anyway, you'll only forget to cock it once. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

Heart rate readings while skydiving
idoru99 replied to bradp's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This is something that was mentioned at the canopy course I took from Brian Germain. He mentioned that for newer jumpers, stress levels spiked during exit. For experienced jumpers, stress levels spiked during deployment. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take. -

Lead hazards (shot bags in rigging; weight vests)
idoru99 replied to pchapman's topic in Gear and Rigging
That funny...manufactured plastic is considered better for the environment than lead, which is found in nature. However, that may be a discussion for SC. My question actually pertains to the use of plastic seals in the US. I'm a new rigger here in the USA and I seem to remember that the FAA states that the reserve pack must be sealed with a lead seal. I'm in the middle of a move from California to Virginia and don't have my books with me. Can anyone shed some light on this for the US riggers? Thanks. They're working on it. Sometimes things go ok. Other times it's frustrating as hell there. I was hoping ot see a nice turn around there to a more upjumper friendly place, but as this weekend is my last weekend there, guess I won't be seeing that. That's too bad. Gear Buying advice - Demo , Used, or Other...
idoru99 replied to rslavick's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've been to Perris a few times and I must say. I like their demo program. It gives new jumpers an opporunity that a lot of jumpers never have. You've got the ability to try a number of different containers, mains and different combinations. Yes you can get demos directly from the manufacturers, but it's a lot easier just to show up and ask for a container and main, plus no shipping charges. -
I jump an HC90 with the royal-lens diamond .3x. Seems to work pretty good. I do have a little 'fuzziness' in the corners when shooting in widescreen, but I've only been jumping it a few weekends, so I'm still messing around with it. Mike, any idea about fuzzy widescreen corners? The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

Jarrett, I do believe you are right. Risers should definitely come with the container. Links should come with the canopy. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

Star Farms Boogie - Sept 16-17, California

At least another Wingsuit will be there. Wayne and I are planning on being there too (thanks for the peer pressure, Cass :) ) The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take. -
Remove main and reserve Large tub COLD water woolite soft bristled brush Fill tub with COLD water and little woolite Wash rig with the brush (submerging the rig) Rinse the rig multiple times (rinse and replace water) until water is clear. Hang to dry (probably 2 days) Optional - once dry -> Scotchguard Talk to your rigger, but you'll probably get something close to this about how to clear your rig. Your rigger may be able to do it for you (for a price) at your next repack. WARNING - Do not use warm or hot water, it can cause your rig to shrink. Hope this helps. Hey, I'm in the same boat, moving from CA's central coast back to VA in the middle of OCT. I, too, am interested in hearing about Suffolk from regulars. Thanks. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

If the policies were initiated before you started, I believe it's illegal for them to drop you because of it. At least that's what I was told with my life insurance. As was stated, if you're worried, ask for excluded activities. I'd be surprised if they tell you that they'll drop because of it now. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

I agree...I love mine and the original lens scratched if you looked at the wrong way (it seemed). I replaced the lens and the replacements are A LOT nicer and scratch resistant. Hopefully the newer ones have the better lenses on them. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

Tandems - What do you do up there behind your student?
idoru99 replied to Fast's topic in Instructors
Funny you should mention this...I've seen TIs actually do this. They didn't cover the student's the entire jump, but they did cover the student's eyes. This TI had a routine of doing the "hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" routine on the student during the jump. We had a few students more than a little upset after the jump, especially after they saw the video. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take. -
Who is faster? Greg Nardi's? One in Monterey, CA and one in Titusville, FL. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

pilot 150--do they always open so sloooowwww
idoru99 replied to woodpecker's topic in Gear and Rigging
Shouldn't be, that's exactly what I do with my Sabre2 and my Safire2, still get 800-900 ft openings. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take. -
I checked my Crosswind DVD. I didn't see any music credits. I did see some credits regarding keyboard, guitar, vocals, etc. Looks to me like the music was written specifically for the DVD. You may need to contact the producer to get a copy of the music. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

Mine was acting funny in almost the same way. I'd sit at home updateing my logbook and afterwards it would show that I was climbing (at 5000 ft/min). After a minute or so, it would sound one or two freefall alarms and then the process would start over. I called Alti-2, they sent me a new one (mine had the latest firmware update). If you're worried or concerned about it, give thema call. They've always helped me out. The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.

idoru99 replied to porterhouse's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've got these swen into both my Mirage and my Wings. I love them. I've never had the slider move on me and it stas just behond my head. I like the fact that my main isn't connected to my container in more than 2 spots (the 3 rings). The greatest risk you take in life is the risk you don't take.
