  1. although we also jump through clouds in switz, we do not recommend at all tracking/wingsuit jumps with clouds... Last sunday again one of our WS jumpers went jumpin for a distance jump, the car already waiting for him at the estimated point of landing... He never arrived there as he lost orientation... when he got out of the clouds he was heading in the opposite direction scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  5. get ready to sell everything you have, loose friends and family, and also from time to time to drink a beer. let me introduce you to your new family and friends : the DZO, your instructors, the manufacturers, your fellow jumpers. now all the money you got by selling everything, you will spend it on : -jump courses -gear -jump tickets -beer Except from that, you're doing fine. Have a talk with the people at your future DZ, they will be most happy to help you, and certainly even happier if you do not arrive to them with ready made ideas on many things that you will have read here. Congratulations for the tandems. Hope your continuation will be successful. Oooh, and by the way, the advice will cost you a jump ticket scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  6. that's what we got as a present for a friend on her birthday... in a nice perfume bottle. We even did beautiful "etiquettes" for her. she really liked it. 8. Then they should pass a law...anyone carrying a gun anywhere on earth (not members of police/army/authority) will be shot ...doesnt matter who, where, when, or why. carry a gun or weapon...you are daid....real daid. mmmh yeah, why not ******* sorry for all the people getting killed in Irak, and for the families. ******* nobody has been asked to go there. Just remember it is considered by a part of the population n Irak as an invasion, and if you are wearing a desert camo, you are a TARGET. ******* there have been too many (far too many) losses. Unfortunately certainly not the last. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  11. I am from Switzerland and besides my small country I have visited parts of : france italy austria germany england ireland netherlands spain czech republic hungary russia cyprus turkey morrocco tunisia south africa mauritius malaysia thailand cuba USA canada french caribbean (yeah, I know, it's france again) I'd go again in all of these countries. Some in places I already visited, some in other places of the country. The country I would have "less inclination to return" would be tunisia, due to the attitude of many people there. The country is beautiful (visited sets of Star Wars, incredible places in the desert etc), but didn't like the "tourist trap" places... next country I am returning to is south africa, and that's in 2 days time
  12. allowed yes does that mean it's not ridiculous ??? certainly not. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  16. I know that the 2 main riggers I use for packing my reserve also give a close look at all my gear. and if they think something is wrong, or not so right, or is going to be bad, they call me to ask if they can do the mod. And I always say yes. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  17. might be correct with a sabre2 at 1.66. Try and think about a navigator 280 at 0.5 arriving with only vertical speed... .......... I have had a situation where I bounced on my knees. If I had tried to PLF or slide instead of continuing to fly the canopy, I would have get hurt ! And the image in my video wouldn't have been THAT cool... Just remember she is a student, and at some stage, or depending on the situation, PLF is NOT obsolete. ........... To the originator of the thread : remember, always ask your instructor/double check the information you might read here. Don't worry that much about your landings. They will be fine, maybe not all of them, but most. Some will require a PLF, on some you'll end on your bum. Most of them will be on your feet and you'll love it. And try and do some judo, it's all about learning how to fall. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  19. greg and don at skydive miami (they helped me with my 1st 5 jumps), also fred whitsit from the same DZ, talked to him on the plane, he is from South Africa, Pietermaritzburg... That's wher I'll go jumping next (on saturday, YES YESSSSS), so I'll be sure to think about these guys and him in particular when i'll be there. andreas (knabe) (posting on the french forum), he is the one (with his wife Anne) who helped me continue in my country after having checked what I had learned from my first instructors. www.epco.aero fred fugen www.babylon-freefly.com, my freefly and wingsuit instructor in empuriabrava scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

  21. as read on the forums, I understood that ZP canopies which are quite new or hardly ever used would tend to get sticky. Would not be the case with canopies which have "more" jumps. now... having read all that, would you take the chance to jump your canopy with the risk of having a brick above your head at deployment or spend 10 minutes (or 5$) to unpack and repack / hand to a packer ??? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
  22. try some judo. I'm not very flexible either... but jumping a round last summer helped me get a nice PLF. These 3 times were my only PLF's, besides the ones I did in the training room in Homestead during my ground course, and the ones I did just before jumping the round. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
