I didn't know a Vigil could give jump data. It logged a 3s freefall on my last wingsuit jump from 12,200'. Not very useful.why would you do a clear and pull at altitude in a wingsuit ?? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Canopy Collisions as a Percentage Fatalities Over Time
piisfish replied to base698's topic in Safety and Training
Bigger planes, bigger crowd jumping together. We don't know each other. These could be the reason for canopy collisions over the landing area. Lazy tracking, bad separation can be the reason for canopy collisions after opening. that plus often faster canopies / bigger speed differences between canopies... scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -

No picture, but helping my wife give birth to our 2nd daughter was pretty great :-) scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM -
It is serious enough, has been well handled, and you trust your pilot which is a good thing. Video/photo would not be good enough to be sold. Go jump again and enjoy it. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Best trick would be : Don't practice at home alone. Either have someone come over and help you, or wait till you get to the DZ. you will save time, energy and frustration, and you won't be learning wrong. And enjoy your beer

So now if you built a second canopy, would you be recognised as a parachute builder ? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Not necessarily. If done by the same rigger that packed it then the container just needs to be re-closed. I wouldn't switch a handle for someone without a full inspection and re-pack on someone else's pack job though.handle can be switched without opening scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

So what's the News ? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

If that is all an AAD had to do then yes, it would be simple. It is all of the exceptions that make it complicated. For example, what is "freefall" speed? We have wingsuits and canopies flying with each other now. It's complicated. Good point - I would want the ability to change my freefall speed. When I wingsuit, I may not reach the ~80 mph required. Honestly, I've been thinking of switching the thing to student mode for wingsuiting, but would really prefer ~50 mph. The other thing that I want to be able to do is to download the data from the unit - see what it sees.are you sure you understand how your AAD works ? scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM

Insurance is here http://www.swissskydive.org/index.php/fr/versicherung/online-versicherung You can check the calendar of www.flying-devil.com, friendly place and people, mostly in freeflying, angle dives, wingsuit. Heli jumps can be organised if enough people interested. scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
