Because of the slow flying characteristics of a paraglider and the ability to stay in the air for hours I wonder how many of you CReW Dawgs might be interested in exploiting your skills on such a wing.

I don't know about that. But you can't knock manbirds advice! The only confusion I see here is that apparent Glide which is relative to the ground and Glide Ratio which is relative to the airmass are being used interchangeably. I don't see a conflict in the actual methodolgy. Just do what you know works. P.S. GravityGirl Rocks!

It's just that of the people I know personally from both parties all of the one issue voters I know happen to be republicans. The democrats I know personally tend to a greatest good for the greatest number philosophy so a range of issues is generally important to them like healthcare, education, childcare etc. I personally have never met a one issue democrat. ----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ Once again I am sure you are right. All but one of the admitted racists I have known personally were republicans (I am from Texas). I admit the possibility that they were merely more vocal. I know many republicans who are not racist.

I hope so. But I know what you meant. Since my father is a gun dealer, and I have owned firearms all my life, gun control is not a big issue with me. Personally I think that EITHER we should all be able to carry them wherever and whenever we want OR that gun control should be comprehensive and rigorously enforced. Either of these ways would be more effective at detering crime than the current structure. The problem with attempting rational discourse on any issue is that people are not rational. They are rationalizing. They are also easily manipulated by unconscious fears. Why do you think the republican party has consolidated its power base by pandering to the one issue voters? Because these people are easy to manipulate. Lets use the gun rights group as an example. A rational person might look at the data and see if some form of legislation might work at mitigating the social cost of guns in our society. An irrational person cannot even discuss the issue. Why Not? Because they have been programed to react instead of think. This programming is done intentionally to us by the monied interests involved using the process of association. The paid mouthpieces of these monied interests will associate the product (in this case guns) with emotional concepts like FREEDOM and HONOR or more often fear concepts like CRIME. You can determine whether you have been programmed by seeing if you have an instant emotional reaction to an idea. Any idea. Say Gun Control perhaps. If you are emotionally attached to an issue you cannot think rationally about it. That is what they are counting on. For the republicans its as easy to rack up votes from the gun rights people, anti abortion, gay haters, no taxers, and racists as pushing the one appropriate button. If they keep their finger on it long enough you won't even have time to think about the issues you are not emotionally involved in. And of course democrats lie. Everybody does. When Clinton lied nobody died.

After all Paragliding had it's roots in using skydiving gear like BASE and some of the technology developed for paragliding (i.e. elliptical wings) has come back to skydiving gear. The current best forum for paragliding on the web is Jerome Dausts forum hosted by bigairparagliding.com. Perhaps he would moderate the new forum. His community includes designers and world champions but his software doesn't have the capabilities yours does. Just an idea. If you are agreeable I'll be happy to broach the subject.

I used to be a nice guy. One of the nicest I think. After about the 20th time I heard, "I just don't think of you in that way" and, "Your the nicest guy I know, any girl would be lucky to have you" I realized I was doing something wrong. I had a buddy that was a total chick magnet, just a total dog. Sure, he was smooth, but he didn't look any better than I did according to women who knew us both. So I asked him, "How do you do it ?" HE DIDN'T KNOW!!! Hmmm... So I asked him what he was thinking about when he went up to speak with a girl for the first time. He replied, "The same thing I am ALWAYS thinking about (insert female anatomy here)! Whenever I talk to a girl I am just thinking about getting with her" AHA! EUREKA! Nice guys don't think this way! I decided to put this kind of thinking into effect immediately and observe the results. I Scored, and Scored, and Scored again! I decided to try it the second night as well I became a Bad Boy and a Dawg and never went without again till after I was married. (That's another story) My conclusion is that the signals a man puts out by thinking this way are responded to by a woman unconsciously. This puts you in her "pool" of potentials. Of course women make a concious decision on whether to act on it or not all the time but if you aren't in the "pool" you WILL NOT get chosen. Hence "Nice Guy" Simple equation Nice guy thinking = No nookie Straight Guys who never get nookie = Gay I think that is correct but we might need Kallend to verify the math. ------------------------------------------------ Why get married? These people are smart and have a winning formula. A lie that someone wants to believe is all that is remembered. Facts have never been important to the republican movers. Manipulating peoples unconsious predjudices so that they will go against their own self interest is all too easy.
