It was featured on the home page of Ted.com. I looked at the title and thought it must be a joke... I was tying it the "right way" already but just thought it was neat how doing it only slightly differently would make the knot weaker. Was then curious to see the split between those who were doing the strong vs. the weak knot. Before you answer, watch this very short video so you know what I mean... Apparently, a lot of people don't tie their shoes the "right" way!! Well, if you have been using paypal for a while, they build up a "profile" of your typical behaviour. It's kind of a good thing that unusual transactions get flagged up, even though it's a pain. My bank/credit card/ebay account have all been blocked at one point or another because I travel and have some pretty random purchasing habits... I HATE shopping, for instance, so I will wait and wait and wait to go buy ANYTHING until I *need* a bunch of stuff... Then my card gets blocked because in one afternoon I try to make like 10 purchases... It rather looks like someone grabbed my card and went on a shopping spree!! Not sure if that title even makes sense - ha ha ha! Basically, after weeks of hearing NOTHING on the job-hunting-front, I hauled my ass to recruitment agencies and forced them to tell me what I was doing wrong. Not only did they give me a bunch of great advice, the phone has been ringing off the hook ever since -

Really?? That doesn't even make sense! Our car was too small (and too full!) for us to lay down in the back... We always had to buckle up, but we never complained about it because that's just the way it was. We didn't back-talk to our parents - we'd have gotten the back-hand!! I kinda just did!! Well, I posted my response, anyway... Does that count? "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Ha ha!!! I just got a PM from someone doing that and I responded with "I'm not sure why you think I care about your squabbles??!" Meh... I've probably done it myself once or twice, although generally I prefer to make an ass of myself in public "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

No matter what she says, I did not send her PM's requesting pics in a French Maid costume. Oh... We're not supposed to do that? Oops... Did she respond to yours? You boys didn't get the pictures??? I was sure I sent them to everyone... Did you block my abusive PM's? Taking unnecessary risk is often "selfish" but we all do it for one reason or another (I mean, we skydive 'cause it's fun, right?). However, if something as simple and easy as buckling your seatbelt (or wearing a helmet) can so greatly reduce the risks, it seems like a no-brainer to me. My parents drilled it into me that I should always wear one - I'm glad that it's so automatic I don't even have to think about it

The writer of the PM should realise that his/her words are only private insofar as the receiver wants them to be... The receiver of the PM should realise that he/she has the power to block users who send abusive PA's. I *did* listen to it. It WAS funny, but it takes too long to tell it in this format, IMO. I reckon it would be funnier to read it. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

OVER 6 MINUTES??? Whoa! A *good* story-teller would struggle to keep my attention for that long, let alone a computerised leggo-man.. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Being falsely accused of anything is horrible. DNA evidence is great - it reduces the chances of this. The truly sad thing is that no matter what is done to clear his name, some people will always believe he is guilty - horrible. Ask yourself this question, however: how many rapists walk free because it's so hard to prove a rape? Or because women don't have the courage to be further victimised by a society that blames her for what happened? I see nothing wrong with this plan - as long as everyone involved is a consenting adult PS: Take pictures and post please

WHOA!! There is SO MUCH wrong with what you wrote up there... What part of EQUALITY to you not understand?? "Female supremacy" is not one of the goals of feminists - it is an excuse used by people who want to discredit feminism. I don't at all get the argument that men are suffering as well... Surely this is an argument IN FAVOUR of equality? An overwhelming number of feminists argue that the current system is bad for BOTH genders. You yourself are constantly quick to point this out. If some people snicker at the suffering of men, it's perhaps simply because they feel (rightly or wrongly) that they suffer *more*. Just who are you talking about???????? Who are these men who are walking around "feeling bad" about being "men"??!! WTF!! Rape is an important issue - I don't think anyone thinks "all men are potential rapists"! I think the prevailing mindset is in fact that all women are potential rape victims, not the other way around... As a society, we do need to stop "blaming the victim" and doing more to stop the aggressors. Women who are trying to improve a bad situation are not "angry feminists"! They are trying to prove a very important point: that focusing all your energy on the victim is not enough to solve the problem. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

And therein lies the problem... A SLUTWALK is doing what to reduce the number of victims? Like I have already said, it opens up the debate. It's an attempt to show that the victim is not to blame. Not saying it's necessarily the best approach, but it is certainly getting some attention, and that could be a good thing. No, 50% chance you're below the median! Also incorrect - this would only be true if there were 0 people AT the median, which obviously is nonsense, since the median is the most frequently occuring number. You're thinking "mode." Median is the number that falls directly in the middle, with the same number of values above and below. Mode is the one that occurs most often. Sorry, just had to get the last word on that one! Ah ha ha!!! Well, that would make you correct in your original statement only if exactly zero people fell on the precise number which is the median. Which seems unlikely. Still, I think "most people are of average intelligence" is the most accurate statement. Apparently, they want to send the message that we should stop "blaming the victim." Maybe this walk is deliberately provocative, but the article makes a good point... So often our answer to rape prevention is to tell women to be careful. Now there is nothing wrong with that, but in order to really reduce the crime, we can't just focus on the victims - we also need to do a lot of work on making sure men don't become aggressors in the first place. Predators will always find victims - we need to reduce the number of predators to reduce the number of victims... Dunno if SLUTWALK is the best way to get this message across, but one good thing is that it's opening up the debate...
