[Bump!!] Well, it's been an eventful few weeks... First 2 days - we thought we might have adopted a feral cat... Lots of growling and hissing and clawed paws swiping at us whenever we got near its hiding place (our bed). Then on the second evening he came out to greet us and was a ball of purrrs

Non jumping partner giving you grief about skydiving?
Nataly replied to MrGrumpie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You can't have been lurking for that long - this is a recurring theme on dizzy.com!!! Do a bit of a search, especially in the women's forum. For some reason these oft end up there... If nothing else you will see you are not alone... I'm not saying I agree with you about all of them fucking off and being consumed in a great ball of fire... But as I live (and ride daily) by the border of Italy, I will say that I regularly fear for my life, and it's not because of the French drivers... I don't think it's necessary, but I think offering is generally the polite thing to do. It's also the polite thing to say no when offered. And if you are really polite, you will offer a second time ("are you sure?"), in case the other person was just being polite... It's fine for them to accept at this point ("oh, ok then, thanks!"), but if they are really SUPER polite they will refuse again even though they really, REALLY want some. I'm so glad we did leave him alone - he is full of cuddles and purring like a mad-cat today and this is only day 3

Hope springs eternal We had supper with my bf's parents and when we came home he rushed to greet us and rubbed up against us and rolled onto his back in front of us!!! It was so great - especially since he spent almost all day under the bed...

His previous bringers-of-food managed to toilet-train him with a special kit. He has found our toilet (with his special lid) but has not used it yet. We also have a litter box just in case but he hasn't used that yet either. This morning he has been growling at me, but he has still followed me around everywhere and rubbed up against my legs (growling and hissing at the same time!!) I haven't tried to pet him yet because once or twice he really hissed like he was going to attack, so I figure he'll at some point request some cuddles if/when he wants them. Well he *is* looking at us like "WTF are you two doing in MY appartment??!" Hmmm... "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

Yep. When he got here, he seemed very calm and relaxed. We put him downstairs and just observed him from a distance (upstairs). Then he hid under the bed. Then he started nipping out. Then when I went to use the toilet he hissed at me and came out from under the bed to attack my foot... Now my bf is snoring beside me and I'm on the iPad and the cat is quiet as a mouse (and still under the bed)! I think he will be fine... We put some of his stuff here and there in the appartment so he would recognise his things and his scent... He drank and he ate, so I just think he is in unfamiliar territory with unfamiliar people... But I don't think he is traumatised (yet!). He sleeps on his back, he stands on his hind legs, he uses a human toilet... This is one cute cat!!! One year old Scottish Fold - his name is Leo. He is SOOOOO cute

It is certainly achievable (even for non-brilliant minds!!), but by no means easy. Personally, if he is prepared to go for it, I would encourage him to do so - but not at the same time as a Masters in Finance. Juggling work and CFA is more than enough, and as I said, I believe CFA surpasses the Masters anyway. (Some people may disagree.) Just my opinion, but I think if it's something he is interested in, it's well worth the effort.

My ex did the CFA at the same time as I did my CIMA (CA in the US)... Whilst I would never claim that becoming a Chartered Accountant is easy, it's a piece of cake compared to CFA (at least it seemed that way to me!!). He initially did his Securities exams, and whilst I don't believe this is a pre-requisite for the CFA qualification per se, he found this to be a good foundation for the nightmare that was to be the CFA exams... Level 1 was HARD. Level 2 was FUCKING HARD. Level 3 was UNBELIEVABLY FUCKING SO HARD HE WANTED TO DIE. Seriously. Now, he was working full time whilst studying. He found it challenging to do this, but he was very disciplined. One thing your son should note is that exams are held only once per year (unless things have changed). So if your son is not part of the world's most brilliant minds, he is very likely to fail a level at some point (a quick look at the statistics on pass-rates will probably shock you)... He is in fact very likely to fail more than once... So 3 years is the shortest amount of time it takes, but realistically we are talking about 4, 5 or even 6 years of his life. It *is* really worth it if he succeeds, precisely because it's so damned hard. (And also because it's a very good qualification.) Even in the UK, it is recognised as an extremely good qualification (so it's not just useful in the US). I'm not saying all this to discourage your son, but for him to understand the level of commitment. Honestly, if he wants a good bang for his buck, it is my opinion that he should put all his energy into getting just the CFA, because what he will cover in the Masters, he will cover in WAY more depth through CFA. Not only that, but the CFA has much more clout than a Masters in Finance (at least in the UK). To put it into perspective, imagine recommending to someone that at the same time as doing their AFF, they should also do some Tandems... Not much point in that, is there? Not a complete waste, but not the best use of their time/money... Just my .02 cents. The influence of social media on risk taking?? There were no questions linking the two!! To control, wouldn't you have needed to compare results to a time where social media was not in use? Not a great survey, in my opinion... Poorly worded questions and many questions where none of the proposed answers really fit my behaviour/thought-process... Hmmm... The annoying realities you eventually have to accept...
Nataly replied to Nataly's topic in The Bonfire
I don't have much of a choice regarding the timing of the surgery because Sept and Xmas are the only 2 periods of the year where I can afford to take 2-3 weeks off from work... If I wait until Xmas to get the first surgery, I would then have to wait until Sept next year to get the second wrist done and that's kind of a long time... Of course I'd rather be jumping but getting enough recovery time after the surgery is more important to me. Yep. Like the Street Triple. Although apparently riding any bike is not such a great idea because vibrations aggravate the problem and the symptoms could return even after the surgery. Anyway, at this point, I think selling my bike is the right thing. Perhaps getting a different bike will be fine once I'm all healed up - perhaps not. Only time will tell... In any case, it's good advice to "do my PT" after the surgery. It's funny... The R6 was never a "wise" decision from a comfort/practical point of view and when I first got it I admit that part of me *was* worried that it was "too much bike" for me... I just never expected to have this kind of problem with it... Nice idea, but it's a little trickier than that. Still, nice idea... -
