  1. Well, maybe no other sport NEEDS one. But I sure didn't see any skiers walking to the top of the slope when I attended the Olympics. Never saw a bobsled being hauled up the mountain on the shoulders of the team either. They USE motors for all kinds of lift assets for events in the Winter Olympics. I do see your point though. One could argue that they don't NEED them. Anyway, thanks for the cliff notes. I think that pretty much sums it up. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  2. Use McCormick's Golden Dipt Tartar Sauce. It's awesome! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  3. Skydive Spaceland has a Student Training Program (STP) manual that they will give you when you take the first jump course. It has what you need for study material. It has all the dive flows, pop quizs, flight plans, checklists, etc. I'm sure I'll see ya out there. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  4. Ok, it's getting close....how much are the bribes up to??!! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  5. Holiday Boogie at Eloy is where I'd go. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  6. They have some mesh on the edges of the slider, but not totally mesh. The slider appears to be quite large too. I jumped the 135 at a wingloading of about 1.65:1. My experience was very similar to AggieDave's. I would compare the openings to a Stiletto, not near as snivelly as the XF2. Very responsive on toggles. Silly light on front risers and dives great with a long recovery arc. It felt like you good get the front risers and just put the canopy where you wanted it and hold it there. Steep, ground hungry glide, but I had no problem flying with a lightly loaded (1.3) Stiletto and bumping end cells. I felt it had great range. I don't think it'd get back like a Velocity or Stiletto, but still could fly back from some long spots in brakes. Bottom end was good with some sort of speed inducement, but I thought that in straight or braked approaches, there wasn't as much lift as I expected. Still ok though. I've also jumped the 107 and 120, but not enough to really talk about. After jumping the 135, I've decided on a 120, but the 135 was definitely a fun canopy at that wingloading and as Dave said, not at all for the inexperienced canopy pilot. 7. Got my Tandem and AFF ratings, and been using them, and only a few jumps away from 1000. I think things are going well! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  8. Does Spaceland have a basketball goal?!!! Nope, sorry. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  9. Why, yes, yes I do think it can! Question is, can you keep your right hand on yellow and left foot on red during the process?? Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  10. Bring a sleeping bag. There is some bedding that is in there, but you just never know who's got what when. You're better off with your own. If it doesn't fit when you pack, I've got one you can borrow, just let me know. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  11. There are separate bathrooms. Each bathroom has 2 showers in it, very clean and well maintained. There is also a vanity with two sinks. When they lock the hangar at night, they only leave the women's restroom open, as the other one interferes with the alarm system. But I'm not sure if they'll make arrangements to keep both open at Skyfest or not. Anyway, there is always courtesy of use with the restroom that is open, so privacy is not an issue. The shower and toilet stalls are all segregated and partitioned. The facilities are very nice. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  12. I'm kinda hooked on Godsmack and Shinedown right now. Pearl Jam has resurfaced in my CD deck lately too. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.

  15. That's what I always respected about Conway. He gave so much back. You'll be missed, Brother! Blues! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  16. Actually, the cafe has been closed and as far as I know there are no current plans to reopen. The Chevron on the corner about 1/4 mile away has decent greasy fast food, but the cafe at the DZ is not open. Not sure if there are any plans for anything else during Skyfest. 17. I got an email from the same address that's about the same. Here's a copy of the email: Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  18. Which has better restaurant choices? I know we ate at Chili's and a couple more places in Angleton last year... Hhmm. Probably Angleton. But it's better to actually go to Pearland as there are MANY more choices for restaurants there. It's not that big of a deal to drive to Pearland and then return to Angleton or Alvin. Alvin is closer to Pearland though. Angleton has Chili's, Arby's, McDs, and a handful of other typical restaurants. There's almost always a group going to Pearland for Dinner at one of the restaurants. We usually car pool there and back. More restaurants than I can list here in Pearland, but Italian, Mexican, Steak, Sushi, fast food, Fuddrucker's, TGI Friday's, Chili's, just to name a few. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  19. No, we've been told by people in that area that both Alvin and Angleton are 12 miles from the dz. Stick with Alvin. That's who gave us the better rates.
  20. I'm a Corvette. But I feel more like a Toyota Celica. You know, wants to go fast but really just can't. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  21. Now THAT is what i caled planning ahead. You could call it that. Or you could call it living at the DZ. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  22. I'm just bringing myself......everything else is already there! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  23. Let me reiterate...that what happens on the plane stays on the plane!!
  24. Well, my question is, can I bribe the pilot to climb slower? I mean does anybody really mind a 1 1/2 hour climb to altitude? Hell, with 19 hotties on board think of the extra altitude potential. It may take a while to climb to 33,000 feet anyway!! Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
  25. Well, I haven't heard my phone ring yet. Blues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
