We enjoyed it! Thanks Jaclyn, for getting this together. Thanks also to Fortson, Jack, Spence, the pilot, Bill and Landon on video, and everyone else involved. Hope they invite us back next year. We got 30 miles away Sunday, and the skies started turning blue, figures! It was good to jump with our current group, along with some new faces. Good to see some old friends we have not seen in a while also. keith ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

Yes, a big thanks to Landon and Bill for the video! Great job. Thanks to Fortson and Jack for the instructing on bigway stuff. It was a good weekend. Thanks to all who participated in putting this together. Jacyln, good job! Thanks for inviting us. ps Fortson, I promise to work on my kicking ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am. -
Yes, they are! There can always be turbulance, last second traffic issues, sudden wind gusts, equipment issues, etc. At over 2000 jumps, I still do one occasionally, when I think I need to. It is a decision made in the last three seconds of a skydive, but one that keeps me healthy. Your ego will heal faster than your body. I would rather walk back to the packing area and take a ribbing from my friends and fellow jumpers for a less than perfect landing, rather than get there on a stretcher. I would rather wash the grass and mud stains from my jump suit than have it cut off me. Plus, The older I get, the more important this is becoming:) ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

I learned to jump at Warm Springs Ga around 86. I think it was called Skydive Atlanta at one time, then Freefall Ranch. Banks and Debbie Brazell ran it. There was one in Jenkinsburg Ga I jumped at, I think called westwind at one time. I had quite an interesting jump experience around 90 at a place called Astroid PC somewhere in North Carolina. Also Barnwell SC vikings of Denmark, I jumped there in the late 80's. Live Oak Fl all through the 90's. ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

December 7th, 1986, Warm Springs Ga. Drove to Jenkinsburg that morning with a friend who jumped, just to find out they were closed, so we drove on over to Warm Springs, and did the first jump static line. Like LuckyMcSwervy said "Awesome. I knew when I was walking back to the hangar that my life would never be the same. Because they are 50% entertainers, 50 % athlete. The more crazy they are , the more tickets get sold, the more millions they make. People pay their hard earned money to see that. Some go for ballgames, some concerts, some racing, some ballet. It is all ntertainment. Whatever your taste are. My tastes in entertanment; I spend my money jumping. (oh, and at the animal feed store.) ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

Did not see you Saturday. Man, the weather was great, the jumps were awesome! We even did some of your favorite 4 way dives. We had a great time. You really missed out. Then, after jumping was done, we sat around and talked trash about the ones who could not be there. Feel better now? ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

I am all for seperate landing areas. But this is not the only thing we can do, and it is not a cure -all. There is not a one size fits all policy for making seperate areas. Every DZ has its own little quirks. What we also do not need to let happen, that we are still just talking about doing something a month from now, when another happens, and two months from now, another. If you did not know Bob or Danny, or any of the other recent ones involved in these collisions, keep quiet, and it will hit close to home soon enough. I am guilty my self. I heard about the ones elsewhere lately, and although I talked seriously to a few close friends about it, I did not stand on the picnic table and shout about it. We all need to go to our home DZS and be heard this weekend. There are other things we can do from DZO's, to 10 jump wonders to 10,000 jump world class jumpers. DZO'S; I commend Art for his decision at his DZ . That is a great start. Dz owners can also ground someone for irrational decisions in the air, they can start seperate landing areas. Separate landing areas will not eleminate all chances of collisions, but will go a long way to avoiding accidents like last weekend. We are all responsible for protecting our own air space, and the looking out for our fellow jumpers. Collisions can occur on regular approaches, if someone does not pay attention or gets out of position. With seperate landing areas and a bad spot, a jumper may drift into the swoop lane, and be in danger, if he is not aware of where he is, or the swooper does not identify that he is there. There can be a warning system, three strikes you are outa here. One hook into a crowd 1 day suspension, 2nd 1 month, etc. Load organizers; they can announce up front, no high performance landings on my load. You know when they are doing bigger ways, there is a guy jumping up and down waving his arms trying to get "picked" for the load. He really wants to be included, so he may refrain from doing something unsafe to be included. Make it clear they will be thrown off future jumps if they do not comply. Being shunned or ostricized can be enough to prevent some from doing it. All of us, we need to have a grass roots, from the bottom up approach to this. From 10 jumps to 10000 start again teaching how unsafe this practice is. Swooping, high performance is ok, but it does not mix well with slower more conservative canopies. The younger ones we preach to now, will be the teachers years from now. We need to go out this weekend, and have some serious talks, take the gloves off if needed, hurt feelings are better than broken and dead bodies. Equipment has come a long way since I started, with skyhook, RSL, Cypres, all around better canopies and gear, but it cannot keep pace with the "its all about me attitudes" . An all out effort to talk about this and re assert our efforts to be safer, will be the best deterent. If we stick to it, we can be safer this weekend and next, but we need to look 5, 10 years down the road. These are my ideas for the moment, I am sure many of you have more. Lets get it said. All these things we must do"so that our friends can live." Keith ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

Condolence thread for Danny Page and Bob Holler
profallrate replied to PhreeZone's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
If some one could come up with a B.O.B. patch, I would gladly sew it to my jumpsuit, and wear it proudly the rest of my skydiving days. If someone years from now would ever ask me what is was, I would tell them about the man, and why I wear it, to remind everyone to be safe "that others may live"! See ya Friday. ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am. -

Blue skies B.O.B. You will be missed. I remember going to his retirement party and finding out how little I knew about him. Some there said that he had lived enough and done enough for two lifetimes. That may be an understatement. I have never heard anyone speak his name without showing respect for him, which he deserved. Thanks Bob for sharing those last three jumps with me. Sitting beside you on the plane Saturday for those jumps, is something I will always remember. A great mentor and teacher, we could sure use more like you, you set the standard. Please see my sig line, Bob WAS the great person his dog thought he was. Any one that saw him with his dog this weekend surely knows what I mean. Debi and I will miss you, and remember you. We are heart broken over this. Keith and Debi ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am. -
Hey I knew, but did not want to give up my lurker status.... oops, just did. Spelled "Debi", sorry Sam, I win on technicality. ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

You are welcome to go through them. ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

That sucks. One option I did not see, they make portable kennels, approx. 6ft x 6ft x 6ft chain link, that could be put in the back yard, garage, screen porch, etc. If the dog was somewhat well behaved, and did not bark too much, it could work. She could take it for walks as needed. We have 3 dogs, cats, horses, llamas, peacocks, goats, etc. We love animals, "our" animals. My dogs have never been away from home except for the vet. We have actually lost touch with some friends or aquaintences over this matter. They bring theirs to our house because they know "we like dogs". I love dogs, my dogs. I like other peoples dogs, at other places. Good luck. ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

I was on those jumps at NAS Jax also. That was a lot of fun. They took the clam shells off the back, and we exited as a tail gate. I think we did 4 or 5 jumps that weekend. It was for an air show for the 50th anniversary of the airfield at NAS Jax. The jumps were supposed to be all solo jumps, from about 7500 I think. They also had a some aircraft on display including a Stealth fighter, and some acrobatic stuff, dog fights ,etc. Like Mike said, we were to stand attention upon landing, while the anthem played, we did our best to stand up. ------------------------------------------------- Lord please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.
