GLX Expedition reports...
Jumpmunki replied to SlatonAirSports's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i think you guys are just showing off -
if you master nothing ... else work on -your altitude awareness under canopy, -urgent dive recovery from full drive and from a toggle turn (to simulate you turning too low to the ground by accident and trainging your brain to flare quick and hard to just above the stall point) or to bring the other toggle down to match it.. -learn about the stall point of your canopy, where it is, how it feels and how long it takes to happen -learn how to make a flight plan to where you want to land BEFORE you get on the plane! -don't be afraid to ask your dzo/cci lots of questions about canopy flying .... there are so many more things i would highly reccommend a canopy pilots course with scotty miller or such they teach these things in depth, more than can be explained on here ... Good luck, and remember breaking legs isn't big or clever, so respect your canopy and make sure your in control of IT, not the other way around ....

i got some work done by the original manafact and they didn't even do it right ! sent it back and it's still shit! going to get my local rigger lou lou to put the padding into the legs (it's all that matters) sounds like a good plan steve and faulknerwn !! *calls rigger*
-
pardon me then, but why are our canopys made from something that gets it's topskin exposed to direct sunlight whenever we pull? shurley we should fly as fast as we can to get the canopies collapsed and into the shade then? ...
-
i have a rig that is oldish, i've had her modified to be freefly friendly and am on i tight budget.. i was wondering if there was anything i could do to make her more comfortable in the legs and maybe the back and shoulders at a push ... any ideas that wont require a mega mega remake of the harness & container?
-
was just gonna suggest that ! i went thru a phase of wanting to swoop and trying to learn myself and i just had a moment of ooooooooooo camera .. and boink ... no snaps but a badly fractured ego ! i'm glad it happened to be honest baby steps .. and lots of help really lower the risks .. but your already a swooper so ignore all this

David Brandal (have you had dealings with him?)
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thankyou VERY MUCH guys... i thought there would be at least a little support in this community and jimbo, just wait until someone pisses you around on a $650 deal for 11 weeks all you get is "oh no you can't say that "! and see how you feel.... this thread is dead and burried, will a Modorator please close it. there is no point in it staying open as all i will get is more abuse about speaking my mind and not kissing peoples arses when they piss people about -
David Brandal (have you had dealings with him?)
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
there is no personal attack in here at all i don't have to explain myself to anybody on here, but when your in a position that i am in on a deal that has gone very very sour. and only when you have seen what i have seen and read what i have read then you will understand why i have posted here ... i've edited the post to keep people happy i thought i did very well to stick to the point and only state the FACTS when i could let everyone know how i feel on this matter but chose not to ... -
David Brandal (have you had dealings with him?)
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i need to know all the people that have dealt with this individual please and how the deals went, does this guy owe you money? i have been in a deal now for a canopy for 11weeks of which i have got neither my $580 back Nor the canopy i am putting together a file to take him to small claims court in nova scotia and this is your opportunity to join me in being a co-plaitif for a short backround on this problem go here .. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1079186;search_string=canopy%20sale;#1079186 for other people reading this i have extended dealines past the length ANY reasonable time.. 10days here.. another week here till saturday there.. it's been 11 weeks since i sent money for good and they arn't here. he keeps saying he's going to send them and hasn't and comes up with excuses as to why he hasn't which arn't good enough i asked for a refund 4 weeks ago he sent $70 ... as a good will and i would have the rest the following week ... that never turned up so he send me an email after i posted saying he is goignt o have to sell the sabre to get the money he owes me so i told him well, just send the canopy like you should have int he first place ... so i wait then ask him what is happening and when (after another deadline) he didn't get in touch he said he was waiting for his $70 back he refunded me before he's posting the canopy . i gave him a reality check!!! and said i will gladly return the $70 (out of $650) when or even IF the canopy arrives and here we are again ANOTHER deadline past with no contact or proof of posting .... *edited to keep the "PC" people happy -

David Lief Canopy Sale Problems
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
having "organised" a dispatch from his mothers house i asked david to provide proof of postage... he hasn't ... so .. as i have i stated i'm refering this matter to a local doorstep debt collection agency. -
i'd go head down before pulling to allow a clean airflow over your alti... it'd be safer than pulling low ...

David Lief Canopy Sale Problems
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i've already been through these channels and got no advice the trransactions are not covered because they were existing paypal funds and not credit card fraud ... having spoken to the citizens advice in the uk i am convinced i can take him to court according to various people he has moved to the west coast of canada... and is not a current CSPA member this is of course if his real name is David Brandal and not Earl Sprague which is his paypal account name linked to his david brandal hotmail account .. ---------------------------------------------------------- anyone with any information of this guys location is asked to contact myself or dave williamson at the atlantic school of skydiving, in total he owes people (to my knowledge) $850 , $580 of that money for a refund on a canopy that was never delivered please contact us as a matter of urgency as this guy appears to leave debt wherever he goes and with whoever he "buys" from -

Not Freefall Related, But After A Critique
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in Photography and Video
how do you mean? the squares on the main page? they are cropped to that just to add a little colour.. they arn't ment to be display full size images .... i've had a few people coment on that, but without them the front page looks bland .. i went for a jpg to reduce the size of the image instead of a gif to speed up the loading process.. it seams to have done no favours ... all images are 10x8 in the "shop" and also the portfolio .. they are cropped from 35mm format ... i'm going to go back to the gifs ... -

David Lief Canopy Sale Problems
Jumpmunki replied to Jumpmunki's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
does anyone know this person, he is fromt he u.s and was selling a sabre 150 on the classifieds. i paid him about 10 days ago and have not heard from him for at least 7 days.. despite him logging on and off msn (where we talked about it and finalised everything, even talked random crap! ) if anyone knows this guy can you please tell him to get in touch as i'm $600 odd down and no canopy, not even a message saying it's been posted, last i heard was he was "waiting for the funds to go from his paypal to his normal bank account" please, again if anyone knows this guy can you tell me if he's on holiday, been in an accident, or even just ran off with my money! Cheers Wayne
