  1. My bad. I can't find anything on Canon's website about it.
  2. You are correct. The 20Da is now out. http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/eos20da/index.html
  3. I hope those aren't rumors. Thanks for the tip.
  4. Thanks for the replies so far guys. They have all been helpful. Im definitely not stuck on Canon. I'd like to know opinions on Nikon and other companies cameras that are equivalent to the D20. And if anyone is bias about Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc. let's hear why.
  5. I've got a little over 400 camera jumps and I'm looking to go digital with a $1,500 budget. I've worked with the Canon 20D a couple times and like it a lot. The only other digital SLR I've worked with is a Canon Rebel. Please post reasons why or why not to buy the 20D and your opinions on what you feel the best camera for 1500 bucks is. Thanks Ted
  6. I've set it to auto white balance. Should I set it differently
  7. I'm borrowing a digital rebel from a nonskydiving friend and I'm wondering if anyone can give me some info on settings to use. I'm not knew to shooting stills but not current either. Any tips on setups for sunny days as well as cloudy but still jumpable days would be appreciated.
  8. The connection point is simply girth hitching the 3 lines together. Before I got my system I wanted to see if I could notice the difference in drag with the d-bag removed from the top skin. So I disconnected it from the attachment point then packed it up. I had my buddy hold onto my pilot chute for an IAD then I exited in a sit. That left him with my pilot chute and d-bag in his hand which he then just rolled up and stowed behind the pilot before he exited. It works awesome. Your really notice the absence of the d-bag and pc when your in a dive. I had tabs sewn on the back of my slider then and used an RSL clasp to connect the line from the d-bag to the slider. If your gonna do that then sew up a spandex sheath to go around the RSL clasp so that it doesn't snag anything. It's a pain in the butt trying to unhook it with gloves on and its extremely time consuming trying to unhook your d-bag and pc, then stow it, then stowing your slider. I recommend buying the whole system cause its fast and you can set it up to use the whole system, leave the d-bag connected and just remove the slider, or leave the whole system connected and use it as a normal set up when you want too.
  9. I've got about 20 jumps on my new R.D.S. (on a Velo 96) now and I will never go back to my stock slider. I take it to terminal and get better openings than I did with my old one. My question to other R.D.S users is what techniques have you found to work the fastest for stowing your system? I've tried using the cargo pockets on my shorts but its so small it takes forever to cram in there. Right now the fastest way is to put it down my shirt or jump suit. I've heard of people using belly pouches and I've heard of different ways of folding it up all nice and neat but thats not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for the fastest possible way to slam it somewhere so I can get back to focusing on flying. A bigger pocket seems to be my best answer right now. Any ideas?
  10. Hey man, Walmart or your local hardware store in the sporting goods section. All it is is a bungee to hold tarps. All you have to do is cut it to length and put a rubber band on it. Only thing is you have to buy a whole package of 8-10 bungees. They dont come in single pieces or pairs. Or if you can get a better deal from the icarus staff member then definitely go that route.
  11. I didnt mean to make it sound like it was the best canopy piloting video out there. It is unique though. Thanks for the correction on the parachutist quote. maybe i read that somewhere else.[email]
  12. I just got the new Soul Flyers DVD from Flyyourbody.com and I think it is the greatest dvd Ive ever seen. It's got Loic Jean-Albert and all his buddies in it. The DVD is in all french and you can purchase it with english subtitles at the bottom but my suggestion is to just leave of the subtitles and watch the movie instead of trying to read. They dont say much of anything anyway. It has some killer blade running stuff chasing skiers in switzerland, lots of Base jumps from Gondolas on the slopes, bridges, cliffs, and parasails. One guy does a McConkey flip of a bridge with his parasail. Its got parasailing and and ground launched swooping over sand dunes in Namibia. Tons of wingsuit flying past CRW dogs and the best footage of all: Loic takes his wingsuit along the slope of a mountain at about 15 off the surface passes two of his skiing buddies and vears left off the slope to deploy. Parachutist said he was about 50 ft over the skiers heads which is why I bought it. But it looks to me like his buddy could have jumped and whacked him with his ski pole as Loic goes cruising by. Its the most phenomenal footage ive ever seen. All around this dvd is a must. Go buy it. You will be glad you did.[email]
  13. Im appreciating all the insite. Anybody else wanna say anything. It'll probably be helpful. Thanks
  14. Im willing to try anything. Have you experienced anything Im talking about
  15. Somebody HELP!!!! My velocity 96 openings are unpredictable and all over the place. Its pissing me off. Here are the facts. Velo 96 in a Javelin Odyssey. Wing loaded at 2.2 to 1. My packing is very neat. I flake the canopy out and clear the stabilizers. I don't stuff the nose into my pact job. My lines can't get any tighter. My line stows are about an inch and a quarter to inch and a half. I have about 18 inches of line left when I put the bag in the container. My risers and d-bag came standard with the container. F-111 pilot chute. Here's the problem. I know that it is normal for the canopy to search, seek, and dance on opening but this is outrageous. I read all about people who have great openings on this site and I dont see how. My body positioning at pull time is even throughout the entire pull sequence. I dont have one shoulder lower or higher than the other. My weight distribution in the harness is totally even. If the canopy starts to open one way or the other, depending on the intensity of the seek/search/surge/dance/dive, I apply correct pressure on the opposite rear riser and correct weight shift in the harness. Sometimes the canopy just doesnt care and continues to do its own thing. I've done compete 360's during the snivel. Thats not a 360 snap turn right as the canopy is completing pressurization. Thats a 360 with the slider all the way up to 1/4 way down during the snivel. Oh its quite fun and interesting but I dont care for it cause I dont want line twists. The canopy spun up on me twice when I first had it. Once at terminal and once on a hop and pop. I called PD and talked with Ian BoBo for 30 minutes. He and I are have the same build, same weight, same wingloading, same canopy. He suggested a smaller slider like the factory team uses and also to send my canopy in to see if it was out of trim. The end result was a new smaller slider and a new line set. No line twists since but the canopy still does whatever it wants on opening. Seems like my best openings are when I trash pack it. Oh yea, when I watch the canopy open it always starts out on heading and there is never a single twist to begin with. So I take it that eliminates the bag spinning off my back on deployment. So my overall thoughts of PD's Velocity: Once its fully inflated, its the greatest thing man has invented since the invention of the wheel. Please give me your thoughts about my problem. Thanks
  16. I was wondering, would the length of your risers have any possible effects on your opening characteristics. Mainly would shorter risers have a higher tendency to help induce line twists and vice versa.
