  1. do you not experience any pressure adjustment problems with earplugs? I'd considered it, but because i never saw anyone do it and because i figured the rapid descent might cause discomfort i never have tried it... michael Michael Hart
  2. i live west of boca & west of the turnpike. taking the tp north to Ft. Pierce, then hop over to I-95 for the last 20? miles. the fl tpk is great coz usually traffic moves just under 80, sometimes more. 1 hr, 25 mins no problem nate: is sobe still open? for some reason i thought not... michael Michael Hart
  3. when teaming up, i didn't think it really mattered how tall they were... everyone's about 1' on their back... not counting the high spots... and the altitude-challenged certainly have no corner on the "feisty" market... windcatcher sez: mmmmm. while i like to be equal opportunity, there's something about a tall woman in heels... course, there's something about a short woman in heels too... michael Michael Hart
  4. here's a line from something i recently wrote: first, you may never know if it's the right thing or not. we can never know for sure, can we? go with your heart. (i'm coming to realize that the little voice that squeaks out an answer that we barely hear at all is usually correct.) that little voice is usually right... but sometimes it's damned hard to hear, damned harder to believe, and that's not even taking into account that it's very likely telling us something we don't want to hear... now there's an understatement.... make that "an incredible, seemingly impossible amount of heart wrenching, brain bending, gut destroying soul searching...." michael Michael Hart
  5. At WTS, we get a little parabola at the top of every KingAir run.. lasts about 3-5 seconds and it's just enough to help everyone get up off the floor... i think it's very cool... you can feel the plane getting into position... even sitting on the floor, all you have to do is wait a second until you've floated up a bit, then put your feet down.... EFFORTLESS! now, if someone knows how to get onto the -real- Vomit Comet for some astronaut grade weightlessness... sign me up!! michael Michael Hart
  6. i wouldn't be surprised if there's some psychological trait that would correlate a propensity to speeding to also taking up a sport like skydiving. Or vice versa. Or not. I have a fun game i like to play. On highway exits, when there's an exit speed posted - i like to try to take the exit at TWICE the posted speed. Not the whole exit mind you, but to at least hit 2x posted at some point... you lose points for leaving the roadway or rolling your vehicle... Michael Hart
  7. 0:3:2 three at the Girls' Boogie at ASC Pell City. Tried a fun 2way with Rachel - couldn't get fall rates matched, but we managed an almost-dock 1 case for first boogie, 1 for first visit to a new dz... had a great time meeting the girls that visited and the staff and locals at Pell City - a fun bunch o' people ... michael Michael Hart
  8. another TN voice: freefall michael (michael) - if possible.. Michael Hart
  9. You and I have to meet someday and have a couple of martinis! They're my favorite!!! ditto! love martinis - there must be, what, like 835 different types? so many yet to try.... call it a sissy drink if you like, but i really like chocolate martinis - made with Stoli Vanil and Godiva Dark Chocolate liquer...mmmmm. i try to limit myself to, say, 5 michael Michael Hart
  10. blech! absolut? just my humble opinion, and not meant to impugne anyone's tastes or favorite libation, but... [puke] absolut is to vodka like smelly fish heads are to automobiles. (so far removed as to be in a different dimension). you want vodka... Grey Goose, Chopin, Belevedere, hell, even Ketel One ... but only on the rocks.. after the taste buds have been numbed, it's time to switch to mixers anyway... the first two are for taste.. the other 15 are for effect... michael Michael Hart
  11. Q: How many Micro$oft programmers does it take to change a lightbulb? A: None. They just change the standard to darkness. Michael Hart
  12. oooohh!!! a pet peeve! lemme tell ya, i like it just as loud as the next guy (mostly) .. and louder than a lot of others... at my daughters' bat mitzvah, i told the dj that i wanted people to be able to talk at their tables and that every time i had to tell him to turn it down i was taking $100 off his fee. didn't have to tell him a single time... mostly louder = gooder... but there is a limit.. michael Michael Hart

    Sex at 100?

oh g-d, i hope not! i can't even imagine under what circumstances that could be true... i always wanted to be shot in the back at the age of 90, jumping from a young ladies' bedroom window... michael Michael Hart
  14. good point.. and especially valid after we've had 4 in 6 weeks... but - can you say "earthquake"? Michael Hart
  15. and what better thing could there be to celebrate? yeah, i'm coming.. should be gettin' there about 1-2pm on saturday. well according to marks (http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1276320#1276320), beer for boogie #1 is the custom.. hehe.. but then beer for _(insert just about any-damn-thing here)_ seems to be the custom.. count on it! i'll be arriving about 1-2pm on saturday. i understand donations of beer are customary for a) first boogies (this'll be mine!), b) first visit to a drop zone (um, okay), and c) just about anything else - so it would seem. fine - i can do that... very much looking forward to meeting some dz.commers there... and locals.. and cool skydiving chicks... and whoever else drops in... does a liberal supply of vodka count as a suitable substitute for a case of beer? michael Michael Hart
  16. yeah, that would suck. worst case... we have to just light the beer lamp mid-afternoon. the things we do for our sport... not to rain on Pell City, but if we do get shut down and just gotta jump there's also The Farm, 94 miles northeast, Skydive Alabama in Decatur, about 115 miles north(ish), and Skydive Opelika about 100 miles southeast. I've not been to any of them, but have read great things about The Farm here.. I was thinking it might be worth the drive just for the hell of it.. but i'm puttin' my money on a great weekend right there! michael Michael Hart
  17. yeah... just decided to go... i should be gettin' there about 1-2pm on saturday. i understand donations of beer are customary for a) first boogies (this'll be mine!), b) first visit to a drop zone (um, okay), and c) just about anything else - so it would seem. fine - i can do that... very much looking forward to meeting some dz.commers there... and locals.. and cool skydiving chicks... and whoever else drops in... does a liberal supply of vodka count as a suitable substitute for a case of beer? michael Michael Hart
  18. you only said drinks three times... i thought skydivers were partyers!! count me in... Michael Hart
  19. hehe.... aprilcat, i'm gonna make a stretch here and say you were horny before getting pregnant, which would probably explain -that- condition! IIRC, about 3 months... held steady for a while, then started to really climb around month 8... others have said it wasn't so much a chronological when, but "after the morning (and afternoon and evening) sickness stopped".... which tends to be about the end of the 3rd month... DISCLAIMER: not being in the "suseptible to pregnancy" population, i have no personal experience... only anecdotal Michael Hart
  20. i don't have an explanation, but i love that phrase and that song "Shake Your Tail Feather"... if i had to guess, i'd say the reference was "is that your ass (coz it's SOOO big) or did your mama give birth to a reindeer (coz that looks 'bout the size of a reindeers' ass!)". ymmv... 'mama ya dead wrong for havin' those pants on, capri's cut low so when ya shake it i see ya t'ong' Michael Hart
  21. i may be getting waaaay over my head here... but i'm thinking i'm coming to this... as far as i can tell, this is not girls only... true? or would it be in poor form/taste to attend? this'll be my first ever boogie... since i'm pretty sure the girls can most definitely out party the boys, i'm wondering if i'm gonna be outta my depth.. lastly... anyone in the memphis area going? wanna carpool? michael Michael Hart
  22. Fantastic!! It's a great feeling, isn't it? You think it was fun before? and that's worth some beer! Michael Hart
  23. Ah... Bob and Tom... the lack of which is an indication of the low level of civilization in memphis.... warning - rest of the day head fuck alert!! all together now: wiper wiper wiper bla-a-ades.. Michael Hart
  24. looking at the calendar, that would be the w/e of 10/23-24? I'd like to make that one. might be going home to see my daughter, but not sure yet. I don't believe i can do the earlier ones. consider yourself tentatively notified - for the Farm weekend. Keep me in the loop as we get closer. you're right, i have found folks friendly. i just have a hard time getting out to them... shyness, insecurity, not wanting to intrude.. whatever... i have noticed, though, that once someone talks to ya, they tend to remember you and say hi again. i find that refreshing and quite different from the whuffo world. wonder why that is? something about the sport? the danger? personality of folks who'd jump? michael PS: you got PM Chiquita Michael Hart
