Personally I would consider space to be just that, empty space with no effective atmosphere. Since Kittinger got to height in a balloon which gets its lift by displacing more mass than it contains then i would not think that he had been in space because there must have still been some atmosphere to be displaced. still sounds like one awesome dude though.

does any one have a pic of the two mig crash at a uk airshow a few years back? the wingtip of one sliced through the fuselage of the other about a foot behind the cockpit, cut it near in half. Both pilots ejected safely VERY low, one out of what was basically a fireball. Russian ejector seats must be very good. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I thought that after ejecting there is a high risk of injury, like broken arms, unconsiousness, dislocated shoulders etc. Wouldn't a round parachute be safer than a ram air if you weren't able to reach the toggles or risers? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

That and the B-52 - without a doubt two of the worlds' most versitile and leathal weapons platforms. The US can go anywhere in the world and kick ass in anyones' name with extreme predjudice.*** Aren't they quoting a retirement date for the latest (or next?) B52 models of about 2040, 2050? looking back at my aff (april 03) I was lucky to have some damn good instructors who probably could have saved me from most situations, BUT, would I have felt comfortable with them pulling my ripcord for me? Hell no. I would have been absolutely furious with myself for being in a situation where I could no longer have saved my own life. Going for a jump believing it's safe to screw up that badly seems to be an unsafe attitude to me. thats just what i think though and i can be a bit of a perfectionist so i'm always pissed off when i screw up even a little bit. If the "children" "shot dead" were, say, warring factions in a gang-related turf war who shot each other, I'm far less concerned than if they were children shot "accidentally" by their friends while playing with a gun they shouldn't have been. Puritanical based cultural bias against open sexuality in favor of gratuitous violence in the media. Good one, I hadn't thought of that. I don't know how much "true crime" you guy's get in the news and in the papers but we get a lot of violence in the cinema, tv and video games too. I wonder how much it does affect people, especially kid's. Christian right definitely seems to get really angry about issues of personal freedom with sexuality though. Thought christians liked to help people not just try and send them straight to hell. They scare me. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
