If you look through this thread I think you'll see it's Jay who castigates and ridicules (just as you do on many occasions). Can't you see Jay's frustration every time he's asked about elements of his teaching that don't quite square up? Can't you see the peace of mind that eludes him? Yep, something isn't right... Do you want to have an ideagasm?

For those who have not seen the story: https://www.npr.org/2018/03/31/598484688/kentucky-lawmakers-limit-black-lung-claims-reviews-despite-epidemic "In an interview with NPR, Koenig said he "relied on the expertise of those who understand the issue — the industry, coal companies and attorneys."" Holy fuck. Let's hire the foxes to guard the hen house while we're at it Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Thanks Bill. I had zero motivation to go and find that among the nonsense See Jay - your source says that I'm right. At this point, don't you think you should be taking a long look at how well you understand your own beliefs about the order of the universe? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
Do you have anything intelligent to contribute in your own words? So far in this thread at least half your sources have contradicted your own statements, so I really can't be bothered to wade through someone else's woo woo bullshit only to find out you don't even agree with what it says. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Especially because the Trump that was out on the campaign trail was the same Trump that Trump has always been. No-one had any reason to think that outrageous, campaign trail Trump was an act unless they think that Trump has been acting all his life. I'm reminded of the quote from In Bruges; Harry, let's face it. And I'm not being funny. I mean no disrespect, but you're a ****. You're a **** now, and you've always been a ****. And the only thing that's going to change is that you're going to be an even bigger ****. Maybe have some more **** kids. It's ironic now that when you here the term 'fake news' being shouted it's almost guaranteed that the claim itself is what's really fake. Anyone on the left, the middle or the right should be concerned and angry about Trump's gleeful efforts to destroy public confidence in any of the bodies whose job it is to hold him and the rest of government to account. Not at all. He predestined to save some. Ok... I'll dumb it down even further for you... the operative part is "he predestined". This is in direct opposition to your statements that God has foreknowledge but does not foreordain. Foreordination is predestination. Well, I do if god made me with a nature that would lead to that. But if god decided I was not to be saved, he'd have made me with that nature instead. So if I've got the nature god decided he wanted me to have, I'm following the path god decided he wanted me to follow, and I'll either be saved or not depending on what god wanted my destiny to be. According to what you're saying, I don't have the opportunity to change that, I'm just floating along the path that has already been set. The point is you are trying to tell us that our actions are not predestined by god, and you've just posted a bible quote that says they are. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

God always knew what the result would be. Right, because he chose to make us in the exact manner that would lead to this result. If he wanted a different result, he would have chosen to make us differently. There you go. The bible disagrees with you. Why? It's not our fault the mirror is bent. Why do we need to repent before it can be mended? If it was mended first, we'd have nothing to be repentant about. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
That can't be true, because he would have known when creating man what the result would be. If he didn't want humans to sin, he could have created humans differently. Like the guy with the girl's name (which you now concede you were wrong about) said, everything that happens is what he planned to happen. Not allowed it, caused it. Again, it's incredibly obvious that you're dodging the question. The question is, why doesn't he straighten the mirror? It's not our fault that it's bent. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

This right here is probably the most dangerous aspect of Trump's presidency. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
Again, incomplete logic. You are ignoring the fact that you also believe god created each person's nature. And as god creates each person's nature he would know exactly how their life will unfold as a result. Then, if he wanted them to have a different life, he could simply give them a fractionally different nature that would result in the destiny he chose for them. In which case, what does free will even mean any more? This is what Loraine (who you now accept has a girl's name) realised, which is why the quote you posted from him undermines everything about your argument. So why doesn't he just stop making us with fallen natures? None of us actually fell, did we? The only person responsible for fallen nature at this point would be him, not us. So Ron had no excuse for not believing in god, yet god went to the trouble of manifesting to him in order to make him believe, thus saving him. Even though it was Ron's own fault he wasn't saved already. So again, what makes Ron so special, and how is it fair that he gets help that almost no-one else in the whole world does? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
Fairness is an integral part of justice. Justice cannot be just if it is unfair. You didn’t follow the rules, and you still wouldn’t if you didn’t think god had manifested to you and (literally, not metaphorically) spoken to you like he did with the prophets. I’ve never seen or been given any reason to think god exists, and I sure as hell haven’t been spoken to by one. So I guess the question is ‘what makes you so special?’ Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
So what you’re saying is, for you it was easy. God physically manifested to you, otherwise you didn’t believe and still wouldn’t believe. What if you’d been in an accident one day before god spoke to you? You’d be in hell forever. Would that have been fair? Is it fair to everyone who does die without believing that god didn’t treat them the same as you and personally, audibly speak to them and ask them to believe in him? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Because you don't want there to be a paradox. You actually posted a quote from Boettner (who you now, after educating youself, accept has a girl's name) in which he lays out what the paradox is, and makes no attempt at resolving it. If you were remotely interested in applying any intelligence to the problem it would be impossible for Boettner to have made sense of it for you. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
Ha! I'm just super impressed with Trump's rigorous, exhaustive, "some guy I've met personally who works in the approximate field" selection process for these roles. I'm sure he's right, and the other 350M Americans he doesn't already know on a first name basis couldn't possibly have anything more to offer. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
You see how on that page it specifically lists the masculine variants Lothar and Lotar? That's because all the 'Loraine' homophones are feminine names. In every language. Educate yourself here. You only need to read the first two lines. Honestly, I can't make this any simpler for you. You'll have to make more of an effort to keep up. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
You think the problem with your arguments are that they're not dumb enough? That's pretty special, bro Yeah exactly, it's an old fashioned girls name. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
And while the passage that Boettner cites disagrees with jcd, the passage that Boettner writes agrees with him. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
And she explains why she disagrees with the cite, yeah? Because they definitely say two different things. You can't just paper over the cracks and pretend they're not there - these are not examples of a cohesive theory. There's nothing illogical about calling a guy Loraine? I beg to differ! Bet he was never bullied at school... Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
Incomplete logic, failure to follow through the conclusion. God is not just omniscient, but omnipotent. God does not just have foreknowledge of events, but he has created every single aspect of the universe that lead to those events. It's the ultimate expression of the butterfly effect, in that a triple-O god could, as he was creating, fine tune the exact starting conditions of his creation to produce the exact results he desires, for every single person in it, for all of time. See, that lady gets it. You realise you just posted two contradictory sources, right? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
I "heard" you the first time. I'll ask again. What specifically are you looking for? You do know that question is the wrong way around, right? The number of ways an omnipotent god could manifest itself into the world is infinite. The answers to your question are limited only by the depths of the respondant's imagination, yet it means nothing if any of those individual possibilities haven't occurred. On the other hand, since you stated that the preponderance of evidence is with you, then you must have some specifics already in mind, and it should be very easy to list some examples. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
A) How would you know? B) How would it help you know the answer? You need to redirect your question to JoeWeber. It is his fantasy problem. What an odd thing to say. Although they most certainly are, I know you don't believe that souls are fantasy. And human chimeras (odd as it sounds) are real. So from your point of view, the only way it becomes a fantasy is if you think that people you haven't personally met aren't actually real. Which is consistent with things you've said before... Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
A) How would you know? B) How would it help you know the answer? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
-
The scientific method is how you judge reality. No-one judges a literary work on the preponderance of evidence. That doesn't even make sense. The value of a literary work as literature is a) subjective and b) purely judged on its own merits. The value of what a literary work says about how the universe works is judged in exactly the same way as any other claim about how the universe works. With science. A lot of good people devote their lives to defending lions, and I'm very glad they do. Without them we'd have no lions left, and our world would be that little bit poorer for it. So what happens in a situation like this when they refuse to fund something they have to do? Does someone with standing need to get a court order for the bailiffs to go into the State House and start selling off the furniture until they find the cash or what? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
