  1. I always thought that was the biggest shame of the Iraqi fiasco, that after the invasion of of Afghanistan there was a real chance to bring some stability and security to the country for enough time to start to build something that could stand on its own two feet. The coalition had numbers and resources, tha Taliban were friendless and beaten. You couldn’t design a better way to throw all that away than invading Iraq. It created an amazing recruiting tool for a new insurgency and it stripped the ability to deal with one all at the same time. And the crazy thing is that’s not just hindsight. I thought it at the time, as did many others. Yet the decision makers somehow convinced themselves that invading Iraq would bring nothing but flowers and goodwill. Maybe a foreign policy built on hopes and dreams is as dangerous as one built on genuinely bad intentions. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  2. You seriously need to go and reread my first post. I said th US is not consistently moral in its international dealings. That doesn’t mean I think that they are always evil, just that they have sometimes done evil. Your own statement above confirms this. The US did entrench and support a dictator in Iran (among other places) therefore your logic follows that in that instance they did think might was right. Similarly the support of Germany and Japan post-war was a defence against the USSR, not an altruistic action. For evidence see how allied nations that weren’t on the new border of the USSR didn’t get the same assistance. I’m honestly not sure here how you can complain about not seeing both sides when you bristle so badly at the suggestion that the US isn’t always the good guy Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  3. Hence the support of rebuilding Germany and Japan. It wasn't done out of altruism. WRONG. Go back a bit further than that, why was the Shah in control in the first place? Selfish western belligerence created the environment that lead to Iranian fundamentalists gaining power. The Ayatollahs and everything that has come with them are a direct consequence of what we did, for a bit of oil and a bit of money. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  4. And how do you think that makes me wrong, exactly? Refer back to what I actually said.... Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  5. Gee, thanks for the in depth history lesson. I now see the error of my ways. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  6. Are you after a purely domestic perspective or do international considerations count? Like several other major western democracies, the US can only claim to be consistently moral in terms of how it acts outside its own borders if you consider “might is right” to be the measure of morality. The land of the free has done as much as anyone to actively suppress the spread of democracy where it is inconvenient for American economic prospects. Where would Iran be without US and UK ‘assistance’ for example? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  7. I hope SNL are putting in calls to Bob Odenkirk’s agent. A Cohen meets Goodman sketch would be pretty awesome. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  8. I can’t even with the irony right here. Here’s the thing, his was an rhetorical response to Nolhtairt’s anti-liberal generalisation. It wasn’t a suggestion that all or most Trump supporters like the KKK. That was neither explicit nor implicit in the statement, even without the tongue in cheek. But just look at how you jumped on it to tar everyone from his half of the country with the same brush, and so further your divisive agenda, and work another step forward to the broken nation you so desire. 9. That’s what I thought. Not to mention the key skill involved in being a ‘pop culture’ scientist is exactly the same as the key skill for a science advisor - being able to explain concepts to laymen. Because the clue’s in the name - an advisor can’t do anything on his or her own, they need to be able to persuade the politicians that what they are saying is both correct and important. Heck, could be that a kids tv presenter would be the perfect candidate Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  10. Why? The UNSC passed two sets of sanctions in 2016 when Obama was in office, and two more in 2017 with Trump. Trump gets pre-emptive credit for things that were in motion before he was in charge? 'Finish' the process is being slightly optimistic. it's still pretty much the whole process to be done right now... Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  11. You said "could". As youre well aware, "would" is a totally different word with a totally different meaning. I doubt you would try such an obvious bait and switch unless you realised you had just lost the first point you were trying to make. So, y'know, just man up and accept it. Don't play silly games. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  12. How do you come by that strict demarcation? People who fight a guerilla war or insurgency in defence of their country are psychopaths, but people who fight in uniform, while occupying a foreign country, against people who never attacked their own nation, are normal? Maybe think about it a little and try again, yeah? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  13. According to your Breitbart source, there is no report. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

That's so dumb. Trump telling Comey, while in the White House, that he likes the White House does not in any way prove that he did not tell other people while on the golf course that he didn't like the White House. It's Trump, the braggart in chief. When he's in the WH, he wants to impress people with how good the WH is. When he's at his own place, he wants to impress people with how much better his own place is. I can't think of anything more in character for Trump than to tell Comey one thing and his golf partners another. Do you want to have an ideagasm?

Here's a thread you started in 2013 with a link to Alex Jones's Infowars site. When someone said they didn't read anything from Infowars you said "Your loss". Here is a thread from 2014 you started with an Infowars link, where someone tells you that Infowars is a conspiracy theory site led by Alex Jones. Here's one from 2015 where you post another Infowars link and several people respond to you, and you to them, with Alex Jones' name. And here is another thread from exactly a year ago where you start pretending not to know who Alex Jones is, despite having swallowed his nonsense hook, line and sinker on numerous occasions. Why the lies, Rush? Why all of the stupid, obvious, easily proven lies? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  16. Are you aware that globalization doesn't bring those things? Says every wannabe prophet who's had hallucinations in the desert for the last 2000 years. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  17. Is that code for being a bigoted homophobe? Why? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  18. I'd be surprised if he's held out this long! It's not as if he's been spending all his time in the office Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  19. Yes, it is the only time frame I've heard. A) The adultery was 2006, the illegal campaign contribution was just prior to the election. B) If the adultery was when Trump was seeking office, not just in business, would that make a difference? If the adultery was when Trump was President, would that make a difference? 20. Of course I did. I also considered him a socialist/communist, progressive liberal, Muslim sympathizer. He too is ancient history, I hope. So you're saying the fact that Obama was a winner didn't really mean anything to you, or change your negative opinion of him? I wonder if you'll see the point I'm making... Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  21. George Soros is a winner. Feel free to chime in with how much you respect and admire him. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  22. Says who? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  23. Why do you say ‘alleged’? The payoff happened, no one disputes that. The person who made the payoff confirms it, the person who received the payoff confirms it, and the documents surrounding the payoff are part of a public court record. Calling it ‘alleged’ is Fake News. But the payoff happened just before the election. It’s the timing of the payoff that makes it a a campaign finance violation, not the timing of the affair. The timing of the affair simply makes him a moral scumbag and slimeball, unworthy of the support of anyone who claims to believe in any kind of moral authority. Do you want to have an ideagasm?
  24. You were told to swear personal loyalty to your boss? So you didn’t feel it was a good thing to be asked to do? Law enforcment is neither a business nor social services. Do you think it’s a good thing for law enforcement officers to swear loyalty to the boss over and above the laws of the county? Do you want to have an ideagasm?
