In fact the Attorney General is required to investigate certain allegations against the president, and to appoint a Special Prosecutor if it's not obvious that the allegations are frivolous. If you think about why the Special Prosecutor exists (to avoid conflicts of interest in investigating the investigator's boss) then your interpretation makes no logical sense. If you need to prove the crime before appointing a Special Prosecutor then the conflict of interest will already play out in full before you can do so, in which case what's the point of the office? The only belief you stick to is that things conservatives do are fine and liberals do are horrible. Any other principle you claim to hold simply turns in the wind depending on who you're asked to apply it to. No-one agrees that this is the inference of the Russia collusion investigation. The investigation was instigated by a man appointed to his position by Trump. That Trump appointee chose a Republican to lead it. Why does the Republican party hate its own President? Why is Trump so bad at choosing cabinet and other appointments that he is surrounded by disloyal, backstabbing staff? Do you want to have an ideagasm?

What do you think about the fact that an incident you brought into the conversation as an example of why the victim is always to blame actually involved a policeman who had already been found unfit to carry a badge and a weapon? No, the point is that he recognises someone who uses the tactics, rhetoric and some of the policies of a dictator.
