  1. So if Dave Grohl ran for President he would definitely win, right?
  2. Countries that people want to flee from will often use their justice system as a weapon against anyone they don’t like. Lots of asylum seekers and refugees may be ‘criminals’ who aren’t actually criminals.

    Ukraine

Russia is now rushing to push through a (ahem) referendum in the four Ukrainian regions it fully or partly controls about whether they want to become part of Russia. Spoiler alert: the results will say they will. On one hand, no one in the world will take it seriously - even Turkey have said it’s a sham. On the other hand there’s going to be a plan. Maybe they’ll try and conscript their new eligible ‘citizens’ though that seems like a bad idea. The worrying thing is what they could try and justify once ‘Russia’ is under attack.
  4. What would make you think that?
  5. Given that you’ve already criticised someone else for not reading an earlier post, how often do you think it’s been made clear already in this thread that the objection to shipping migrants round the country under false pretences has nothing to do with their legal status? Here’s what didn’t go over my head. You said they were illegal. A bunch of people showed you were wrong. Instead of holding your hands up you pivoted to this bizarre “then what’s the problem” even though you know damn well that was never the problem. Just be fucking honest for once.
  6. What kind of stupid fucking crystal maze mental gymnastics bullshit are you trying to pull here?
  7. You really wanna draw attention back to your assertion that Kallend’s representative would have introduced legislation based on one conversation with one constituent? You do you, I guess.

I’m pretty sure Obama can spell. How else would he have faked his birth certificate?
  9. Right, I suppose when people are already frightened and helpless it’s ok to lie to them for a political stunt that emphasise their helplessness. Kinda like kicking homeless people for fun. They were already at rock bottom, now they’re at rock bottom with bruised ribs, so really what’s the difference?

I believe the lack of a comma means it is option b all the way.
  11. Next time you’re bothered about some other border situation I’ll be glad to remind you it’s all just a big joke.
  12. Right? Like, if Biden is so popular why did he win by millions of votes and (what Trump himself defined as) an electoral college landslide? Oh wait, that kinda makes sense.

Even though I know better I still kinda hope that guy was a plant.
  14. Ah the classic right wing playbook. “How dare you make such an outrageous accusation without proof?!” ”Here’s proof.” ”Whatever, it’s not important.”
  15. The Murdoch family are liberals? That might be even dumber than thinking Obama invaded Afghanistan in 2001. Actually no, I think they’re just about tied.

Yeah but they won’t go after Ron’s benefits because he earned those. They’re just gonna cut the social security if people who don’t deserve it. The bad welfare, not the good welfare. Y’know, like the whole ‘you gotta scrap Obamacare but don’t touch my ACA!’ thing.
  17. Send the bill to Trey Parker. It’s his joke anyway, and he can afford it
  18. Sounds like he’s angling to get promoted over the heads of his American colleagues. Schrodinger’s immigrant - the lazy freeloader who’s tekn arr jerrrbs!
  19. Assume the reason is that because of their different flight plans Voyager 1 overtook 2 quite quickly, was the first of them to overtake the Pioneers, and the first ever man made object to reach interstellar space. Makes more sense for number one to be the leader.
  20. I didn’t ask Russel Brand a question, I asked you a question. Then say it. That is a lie. From you, not him.
  21. Not so much a populist as a true Thatcherite / neo-liberal / Reagonomics / free market believer. She's about to announce £30Bn of tax cuts primarily to the very wealthy, which will somehow pay for itself almost immediately because trickle down. Her Chancellor's first act will be scrapping the cap on bankers bonuses (introduced after the global crisis to discourage the rampant short-termism among investors that led to the destitution of millions in 2008) because he and Truss think it discourages banks from doing business in London. That's right, London. The second biggest and busiest financial centre in the world is, in her mind, struggling and needs help. Then there's the energy bill assistance which will cost £150Bn of tax payers money this winter... because most of it is being given to people who can pay their bills just fine anyway. Rich people in big houses will get several times more money given to them then the average person, and the poorest people who are struggling the most will get significantly less and in some cases nothing. It's genuinely hard to explain without coming to the conclusion that she really believes rich people are genuinely better and more deserving, and poor people are always to blame for not trying hard enough to change their situation. The only good news right now is that even elements of her own party are worried that her policies are so out of tune with the public that she's going to hand over the next election to Labour. Tory MPs fear Liz Truss’s policies will create a ‘complete open goal’ for Labour

You are killing democracy and accelerating the division of your country
  23. Citation needed. Both sides, huh? One side can stop dragging it out by abandoning an unjust invasion and occupation. The other side can stop dragging it out by giving up their sovereignty, agreeing to be subjugated, and abandoning their citizens to the tender mercies of the FSB. Are both sides the same?
  24. Are you against Russia's invasion of Ukraine?
