We will have a handful of flyers local to Skydive Orange. There are a number of competiing regional events that are providing competition for the participants. There are a couple of people looking for first flight instruction and some coaching. I expect we will have a smallish group, this is almost better to get some focused skills development going. If there is enough interest and the weather finally cooperates ... we are planning to have a wingsuit weekend at Skydive Orange May 10th and 11th. We will be offering first flight training and basic flocking skill development. We will adjust the complexity of the dives to the desires and skill level of the group. If there is interest please post here or send me a PM. I expect we will have at least 5 - 6 birds for some small ways. If things go well, we will move to some more technical dives. I have a number of suits some made with rip-stop nylon and some from parapack. I would not go with parapack if you are doing ALOT of jumping in plus 85 F degree weather, but the suit will wear more quickly. I must say I was very thankful for my parapack suit a few weenends ago when it was 10F at altitude and 45F on the ground. Parapack also becomes more attractive on the suits that have full body zips in the front that allow you to put the suit and rig on without having to put the legs / body of the suit on until 4 - 5 mins before exit (if that's your thing). While the weather attempted to washout the entire event, by any measure that matters the weekends was a huge success. Saturday greeted us with clouds at multiple levels with an every changing ceiling, mostly dropping during the day. Most wingsuit pilots got between 3 - 5 jumps, none from full altitude. The Charlottesville’s Paper came out to cover the event. Scotty B. (Sky2Productions) - Thanks for the Photo and Video support for the media !! We did have a first for the DZ with a single plane load of only wingsuit pilots that turned into a 9.5K 14-way. Saturday ended with dinner at the DZ and some of the stupid human tricks around the fire-pit. To include placing a large 16 inch x 20 foot log across the fire with one-on-one foam staff battles over the fire (Sam you rock girl). Sunday started and ended with rain, mist, and low clouds. We did the raffle and shut it down for the day. Central Virginia redneck entertainment took over for the afternoon, with us nearly getting tossed from a local bowling alley.
