Hi, guys. I'm a relatively new jumper (A license, 50 jumps) who just got his first rig. I knew I wanted to experiment with CRW, so I chose a Spectre for my first canopy and ordered it with CRW lines. To me, that meant dacron lines with non-cascaded center A+B lines, with the A lines in red. To my surprise, the outer A+B lines arrived in the same configuration. I did some searching here at dz.com and found a post by Wendy Faulkner advising some newbie that this was the proper thing to order, but I haven't found any posts (or anyone at my dropzone) to shed light on why. I know I'll have CRWdogs docking on my end cells, but unlike the center set, I don't think anyone will be sliding down them. Are they just easier to grab when they're red? Does the non-cascaded part help, or is this just a consequence of making the A lines red? Anyone from the Seattle area want to give a new pup an introduction to the dark side? thanks, Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Congratulations, Kevin. Now let's go do some two-ways! Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Not to worry, Rosa - the two aren't mutually exclusive. I tend to go for taller girls, myself, but there have been some notable exceptions. You'd probably be one of them if you weren't 1000 miles away.

Just to add a datapoint here - my first demo from PD was 4 weeks late, and the one I have on order right now just missed its third weekend. The DZO has been ordering them for me, so I'm not the one who's been communicating with PD. For the record, I'd much rather be told that I won't get a demo for a month than be told every Friday that no canopy has arrived and they don't know why. US citizen. Grew up in the Florida, but have now spent most of my life near Seattle, Washington. (cronologically) The Bahamas, Canada (a zillion times), Spain, Gibraltar, Oman. I would gladly go back to any of them, and lots of other places besides. "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Yeah, but it's good work when you can get it. "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

You can order a Spectre with CRW lines (Dacron, non-cascaded center A+B lines). It doesn't even cost extra. If you buy a used canopy you can just re-line it that way. "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

How? My copy of the BSRs lists 16-years-old as a non-waiverable minimum. Did they just go to non-USPA dropzones? Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Skycat, I've searched and searched and I can't find this post. Would you mind finding it and giving us a clicky? Thanks, Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

I'll give you $100 and promise never to let anyone jump it. I'm looking for a reserve to use to practice my rigging skills. I'm going to wear it out on the floor trying to learn to pack like my favorite rigger (and that's a lofty standard!) then I'll start practicing my sewing skills and give it a few patches and line repairs, etc. I will definately never let someone jump a canopy I've done all this to. Thanks, but my rig feels tiny compared to our student rigs. I think they're I-88s. I also like the new "narrow" size option. Our large student rig is the right height for me, but keeps wanting to fall off my shoulders. My rig feels like it's glued on. At this point I can't imagine wearing a rig much smaller than this - it wouldn't feel like I was wearing a rig at all! "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

We put the reserve in today. My main's still 6 weeks out - I'm waiting for a demo canopy so I can jump it.

Not if you're only wearing one parachute! "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Aren't the Samurais actually built by PD? "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Question: Are the rings on the harness the same size with either style riser? Can you switch riser styles without getting a new container? "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."

Thanks. I think the bottom line is "I'd better call Kelly before ordering my Infinity".

Wow. Your profile says you're also getting a PD193R in that I-55, which is so far off the published specs I wonder if I'm missing something. VSI says an I-55 will hold a 343 ci reserve, but PD says their 193 has a pack volume of 442 ci, and PIA rates that canopy at 471 ci. VSI says an I-55 will hold a 443 ci main, but PIA says an original Sabre 190 takes up 500 ci, and even a Spectre 190 takes 475ci. Am I missing something? Is there that much variation in container and canopy sizes? Is this just a testament to how tight you and your rigger are willing to pack? thanks, Spencer "Be braver -- you can't cross a chasm in two small jumps."
