  1. If you do a search with posts by me, you'll find a crapload of information on this. But which laser procedure did you have done? That does make a difference. LASIK is most common, so we'll go with that... I wouldn't recommend any sooner than 2 months. The reason is that the cornea has no blood supply, so no raw materials delivered to it to regenerate itself. That flap will never heal to 100%... research shows that the flap can be unflapped even 18 years after the initial surgery was done. You want to wait at least 2 months to get some degree of corneal integrity back, the last thing you need is a dislodged flap in freefall. It also takes several months to get your tear film back up to par after LASIK... the problem is that the corneal nerves are severed, so it's harder to tell that your eye has dry eye related damage, since it doesn't hurt. Don't get back in the sky just because your eye feels fine and your vision is good.... feeling is definitely misleading in this case. With PRK, closer to one month is fine, there's no flap to dislodge, and by a month, you're back to a reasonably healed cornea and decent vision. That's assuming that your surgeon has said that you are healing on track and have no side effects (epithelial ingrowth, wrinkled flap, etc.), as that will change things. 2. I have 2 rigs right now... Javelin Odyssey with Sabre2 135 and old Racer with Spectre 150. I have 500 jumps on the Spectre, about 40 on the Sabre2, so have no problem going back and forth between them. The reserve in both rigs is the same.... PD 143 Reserve. How many jumps do you have on the Spectre? When you first start jumping the Safire, jump it a lot, ignore the Spectre... get adept with the Safire2 since it's the new one. Once you can land it in any situation, comfortable with how it flies, handles, etc., then I don't see a problem with going back and forth between them. If you constantly go back and forth from the start, you won't get the chance to learn your new canopy as quickly. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  3. Happy birthday, Walt! Hope you get to celebrate with a great shit and a shot of ipecac Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  4. Granny, I loved your posts right off the bat, but this thread has made me really want to meet you... you have impeccable taste in beer
  5. It really depends on the weather... if there's not a lot of jumpers there, Cburg will be flying a cessna, not the King Air. They need 8 to fly the KA. Honestly, I havent been to Cburg since before thanksgiving due to the weather, so can't give you a good comparison from this year. Cburg on a good weather day will have more people than Maytown in the winter, on a blah or so-so weather day, Maytown may have a few more. In the summer, Cburg is much busier than Maytown, and always flying the KA. Check it out for yourself sometime
  6. Beautiful container! Congratulations!!
  7. Funny, I think I remember seeing you show your face a time or two at Cburg too And don't be using a canopy course as an excuse either... you liked it and you know it Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  8. I don't know. You can email Kathie at manifest@skydivingcenter.net or call them to find out. When the weather is iffy, we just go to Maytown... much closer to home, we can get a jump in and go home without blowing 1/2 the day driving. In the past Cburg has been open for New Years though, so I doubt this year will be any different. I have a few Jan 1 skydives there
  9. We have a Krav Maga instructor at our DZ... I'd love to learn that one too... too bad his school is an hour and a half from my house. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  10. I've been to three of the four listed, and would recommend Skydive AZ above the other 2. Sedona was great... beautiful, very nice staff, but very prone to windy weather and the landing area is very small. When we were at Marana, we both got a 'why are you here' kind of vibe, not all that friendly, so we did one jump and left. Pilot was a nice guy though. Skydive AZ has a hell of an operation, tons of outs, seemed like good instructors there. I'm looking forward to being there again in Feb for a visit
  11. Absolutely beautiful pics... congratulations!!!!!!!! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  12. I took your survey, hope you provide us with the results later... I've done a crapload of surveys for people on here asking for help and no one ever posts what they come up with. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  13. Well, then you'll be delighted to know that after 3 years as packers, we both recently retired from that profession (YIPPPEEEEE!!!!!) since we have instructor ratings now. So, his sweaty balls will be busy strapped to a tandem student ) That sounds so vile, but you know what I mean!) Glad we didn't scare you off... it really is a great crowd. 14. I think we probably scared the OP away from Chambersburg Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  15. This is the PERFECT time to be talking about balls.... don't people put balls all over their Christmas trees? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  16. OH SHIT... are your hairy, sweaty balls going to be molesting my poor new gear????????? Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  17. Damn right!!! He offered to do my first pack job, and there was no way in hell I was letting hiim touch my new baby so soon
  18. We tend to give to those who truly need, not each other. I just dropped off a card with $100 in gift cards for the local grocery store to someone who I know is really hurting financially this year. For each other, we just give each other lots of lovin' and all's good. Though I'm intregued by Billvon's spool of microline... all kinds of applications there...
  19. My husband and I didn't buy each other a damn thing, nor do we intend to. We know we love each other and don't need a bauble to show it
  20. For me: Start of jumping day, turn on AAD and go over entire rig, webbing, harness, keepers, 3 rings, handles, pins making sure everything is good to go. Then I do three quick gear checks (main pin, handles/hackey/bridle , leg straps, chest strap, 3 ring, altimeter) prior to every jump... once on the ground before I put it on, once before getting in the plane, once in the plane prior to exit. 21. We live in Elizabethtown, between Harrisburg and Lancaster... for future reference, you'd have been welcome at our place Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  22. The problem is that in this case, the author was Mis Quoted.... yes, he is agnostic (NOT athiest), but he is not 'hell bent' on converting kids to anything. That was what he thought CS Lewis would say about his books in an interview, not his actual goal. But what are the odds of those who posted so vehemently on here actually reading the links I posted and giving the guy an honest chance to speak for himself? Christians are often quick to judge, but slow to give a person benefit of the doubt. To use Jaye's analogy, someone else said that Larry hated her dad, and she believed it without talking to Larry first. Turns out Larry is perfectly fine with Jaye's dad, but she'll never find that out due to a visceral reaction rather than a rational investigation of the situation. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
  23. I honestly don't know... When the weather is crappy we jump at Maytown instead... only a 5 minute drive vs. an hour plus drive
  24. Not all of us are gear snobs Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
