Used to be a PC gamer, but I don't upgrade often enough and I got sick of trying to keep up with the minimum hardware specs for new games. Now I'm 90% console, except for stuff like 'proper' flight sims that are PC/ Mac-only. I do miss PC controls, though - console controllers aren't really ideal for pointing at stuff (unless you've got a Wii, of course!) And I reckon I'd feel more at home with the PC online community. Sometimes it feels like everyone else on Xbox Live is a trash-talking 12 year old.

My mum used to tell me if my nose itched that it meant I hadn't got enough sleep the previous night - hence, I needed to go to bed earlier. I think there were probably 101 supposed symptoms of staying up too late, but that's the one I remember.

Once you've got the right format, I tend to think that storage is storage and if one brand is much more expensive than another then you're probably paying for the name. Personally if I was getting through a lot of cards I'd buy cheap ones and just make sure I backed them up to a hard drive regularly - which of course is a smart thing to do anyway.

He goes through his muttaway drills. Oh I'm sorry. That is just terrible.

From your thread title I was all ready with the answer, they'll both hit the ground at the same time. Lots of manufacturers now make 'pet friendly' models of vacuum cleaners, but I think it's typically just a marketing ploy. I don't see how the technology for sucking up cat hair (possibly the stickiest stuff known to man) should be any different from normal vacuuming requirements - except that the more suction you have, the better. One technique I've used (when I could be bothered) was to loosen the hair as much as possible from carpets and upholstery with a stiff brush before I started vacuuming. After that you might find that you can shift it with your current machine.

0:6:0. Had bad weather for most of the weekend. Those six jumps, all 8-way FS and all from fifteen grand, were squeezed in after lunch on Saturday. Add in the packing and the dirt diving, and next day I felt like I'd had a pretty good workout.

Funny you should say that. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7417384.stm

Why pay anything at all. Um, because somebody has to, or movies (even bad ones) wouldn't get made at all.

Fixed it for you. Don't know why people seem to have such a downer on M Night. I thought The 6th Sense and Unbreakable were great movies. True, maybe he should have stopped there...

Nice philosophy for life. Bad strategy for planning projects at work.

I remember one of the early cult websites was published by a woman who'd done exactly that. It was a step-by-step guide, with photos. Seemed like a pretty drawn-out process, but I guess worth it if you're going to have an indoor cat for life. I remember her saying that once she'd trained her cat to use the toilet she then had to train human visitors to leave the lid up.

[temporary hijack]Karma. One of those things that really, really ought to exist - but sadly I think experience says it don't.[/temporary hijack]

In my experience (in the UK), the machines where you have to manually insert and retrieve your card also tend to be the ones whose operators charge you for transactions. So there are two reasons to avoid them like the plague.

I'm not sure there is anyone smarter than BillVon. I think you could build up a whole Chuck Norris-type mythology relating to him.

it will no longer be the latest and greatest thing on the market. and for lots of people, if its not the best thing out there, there's no point in having it. I thought that might be it. In which case my response is, keep on using it!

I'm clearly out of the loop here, but what happens on July 11 to make your current iPhone useless?

An AN-2 featured quite heavily too!

I'm so sorry - that must be really distressing for you. The feeling of guilt is tough to cope with and I think it's quite common when a pet dies, whatever the circumstances. I recently lost my cats (also both aged 13) to illnesses, and I was beating myself up for a while wondering if I should have picked up on the symptoms earlier and if that would have made any difference. Unfortunately bad things just happen sometimes to animals as well as people. You just have to remember all the love and care you gave her for the time that you had her. She had a pretty long, and I'm sure happy, life.

Hm, I dunno - that's starting to sound like a bad movie pitch in itself. Writer looking to add authenticity to his script becomes dangerously embroiled in the world of skydiving... I think you'd need to spend a lot of time at a dropzone and make quite a few jumps to really get any insight into how it all works. And that's not practical for the sake of what sounds like a fairly minor plot element. It bothers me (not directed at you, AggieDave) that any posts by non-jumpers always seem to get at least a handful of cynical and unhelpful responses. I don't see anything in moviewriter's questions to suggest he's trolling or has some secret motive. Moviewriter, sorry I don't have the right experience to answer your questions - but I hope somebody here will, and I hope it helps you to get it right.

Name 3 things you're looking forward to in the near future
MikeJD replied to maestrabella67's topic in The Bonfire
2 minutes away: drinking the cup of tea I have brewing. 15 hours away: waking up, remembering it's not a workday, turning over and going back to sleep. 4 months away: being a cool person in England, apparently. Unless that only applies to the people apollard24 is actually going to be hanging out with... -
I've done the same thing with my car a couple of times. The scary thing is, since the dashboard lights only come on when I switch on the headlamps, that's what normally alerts me. It's not a case of, why can't I see where I'm going - but why can't I see how fast I'm going?
-
Surprised at the hostility here. I think his quality control's been a bit uneven - and in general it's been on the decline since The 6th Sense, although I still think both that and Unbreakable are brilliant. But he's still more interesting than 90% of directors out there - and I'm really hoping The Happening will be a return to form.

Seems like every jumper has either had exceptional service from Larsen and Brusgaard, or knows someone who has. I really think they're the most respected dealer in skydiving. So long as every happy customer takes the time to say thank you, they must be feeling the love by now. But hopefully they're also reaping the benefits in return business and word-of-mouth, and are not about to go bust from giving away too much stuff!
