Absolutely agree with you. In a Hollywood movie the kooky, unattractive friend is a gorgeous actress with glasses and a slightly odd haircut. If you really want to make her 'ugly' you also put braces on her teeth. And voila, as if by magic - erm, a beautiful woman with glasses, bad hair and braces.

You've already got a 9:1 ratio, but I'll do my bit to claw back a little ground. All you need now is for a lot of people to somehow reply to the thread without viewing it. Are repeat views from the same account/ IP address added to the total? I've never known.

Saw this on the news last night, and when I found out she was only a few weeks old at the time it seemed to lose significance since she wouldn't have remembered it. I guess it must have been strange for her to be associated all her life with an event she had no recollection of.

Take your guitar into freefall and it might end up being not so pretty anymore. Nataly, if you want to maintain your interest and improve your playing in a hurry, I say start or join a group and rehearse in that context as well as by yourself. So long as your band mates understand that you're, um, a progressing player, then it's almost never too soon. It'll really motivate you and boost your confidence about playing in public.

I think it's maybe my favourite Tarantino movie - a bit less showy and brash than his other stuff. It's still got the great dialogue and performances and some iconic moments, but more emotional depth.

Can't upload profile picture, but no error shown

I finally decided I'd like to have an avatar, but I'm not having any success uploading it. The image I'm trying to use is a .jpg, and it's well within the size limits (both in terms of KB and dimensions). I can browse for it successfully on my laptop, but when I hit the 'Add Profile Picture' button the page refreshes after a few seconds and nothing much seems to have happened - no picture, and no error message. And the 'Select Profile Pictures' box still says I haven't added anything. I've tried in both IE and Firefox without success. Am I missing something? Thanks! -

I think it was the first of the annual Moderating Conspiracy Day (MCD) - the Mods take down the forums on purpose to enjoy at least one day of peace and quiet. And not a peep from Shah since the glitch... maybe he's been erased from existence!

I think the mods took everything down since it was the only way they could get near the shah269 thread to lock it. Kind of like a glitch in the Matrix.

If you can genuinely laugh about it you're doing well. Our upstairs neighbour used to have a girlfriend we knew only as 'Screamer'. They would usually start up some time after we'd already gone to bed, and it wasn't funny. Early one morning my girlfriend knocked on their front door and asked the guy if he realised they'd kept us awake all night. When he asked what we could hear, she just said 'Everything.' I think they were a bit more careful after that.
