  2. Im a FNG to the sport..but i was actually thinking of this very topic a few days ago. I think im going to start carrying my cell phone with me on future jumps just in case something would happen to cause a off dz landing. It would jsut expedite the process of coming to get me...so its not really a bad idea...at least in my opinion. I guess i would have to take the rig off though if i had the same covers...no big deal though. Ill jsut pack it while waiting for them to come and get me....lol As long as you're not taking video of landing out with your cell phone within an inch of your riser covers you should be OK. Everybody seems to have missed that only taking as video with the phone close to the riser covers (which by the way are on your back) has been noted as a potential problem. Nobody said you couldn't make a call. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

    Vasectomy?

Wanna bet? My husband had his done just over a year ago. I sat next to him on the couch and cracked walnuts, just because it made me snicker to do so He was sore for a couple of weeks, but nothing debilitating. He did it in December, so it didn't affect jumping at all, I like not being on the pill any more, I'm getting old now and didn't like the increased risk of stroke. We have no kids, neither of us had any desire to have kids of our own. And you didn't fetch him drinks without question? Hmmm.... it's true what they say about you..... Vasectomy?

If you get it done on a Friday, the wife will fetch you drinks, without question, one weekend of your life "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  5. Yep you're right - you won't be able to take video of your accident but nobody has said the phone didn't work for making calls "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

    My Life.

I lived in Trail/Rossland/Castlegar, BC for 3 years. Thats not all that far from Whistler either. I dont know where the school you mentioned is located though. LOVE the area, but if you like excitement after 5:00 PM forget it. Plus, and quite surprisingly, I felt a LOT of anti-american vibes there and that was 8 years ago. Its even worse now. The economy stinks, there isn't a lot of work, and as an American I was always the first guy laid off even if I had seniority and even when the newer guy was a shitty worker. Honestly? Its a beautiful place to visit, but I would never live there again. Never. Other parts of BC (and Canada as a whole) might be different, but I was not welcome where I was living and it was based solely on the fact that I was a US citizen WOW I was kidding with my comments (hence the faces and the suggestion that he think of France instead - God I laughed when I wrote that post), but it sounds like you actually ran into issues. Not to take away from your experience but Trail/Rossland/Castlegar are very much small towns and in the sticks as compared to the very metropolitan city of Vancouver. I doubt he'll run into much anti- Americanism in Vancouver. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  11. Seems to me that you're over thinking the plumbing and potentially, accidental, pulling silver first and doing things out of sequence. Why not just do things in sequence as trained and if the Skyhook beats you there is no shame in it. I think per chance is better to use the KISS system and follow established EPs. Then if you're ever jumping a rig that is not your own and doesn't have a Skyhook, you won't have practised EPs that are inappropriate. Remember in an emergency you have time to do it right, but not time to do it wrong. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

    My Life.

Interesting...Ive never heard of this. No offense or anything but do you have any proof of this? If so I would really like to read about it and investigate it. I only plan on going to school there. After I graduate I plan on moving back to the United States. As for the french thing i alreadly looked into that the entire area is basically 100% english and the school is actaully pretty hardcore with speaking english well just to be accepted. Yea for sure - English is the primary language in B.C. (that's what we tell tourists) "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Don't move to Canada its a socialist country and "socialist" is only one step away from "communist". British Columbia has its own set of problems, much of them centred around the rampant drug culture found through out their universities. If you go to school there you may have problems getting back into the USA. Having to stay in Canada after being barred re-entry into the USA introduces another set of problems. Knowledge of the French language its pretty much a requirement to get a job other than flipping burgers even if you have a University degree. Not bilingual? Learn the phrase that pays - "Would you like fries with that?" Perhaps you should consider going to France... 14. Look at a map. The commute from Madrid to its closest nudie beach appears to be quite a hike. However distances in Europe a deceiving. Having to drive half way across Spain is not like having to drive half way across Canada "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

  17. I am no expert but I suspect that if you have a Skyhook and you cutaway your main, I doubt that there is much chance that you can pull silver fast enough for you to beat the Skyhook at deploying your reserve. As I said I am no expert and I am open to finding out that I am wrong... "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  18. My only suggestion if you've decided to keep her is to watch for signs that you are being manoeuvred out of jumping. Like when you plan to go jumping on a Saturday and then she has other plans that need you. Thats what happened to me, over time I was jumping less and less, until it was just gone. Not saying that your woman is like like that, just that my wife was. I could see her trying to do that eventually Look at the up side! If it happens to you like it did to me, you get to give someone half your stuff "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
