  1. I was a chronic bad sleeper forever... that is until I got divorced. Just an idea... "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  2. In my opinion.... RUN don't walk away from this one. What special relationship do you have with this guy that he is going to pass up the other 20 people that have already said they want to buy it? You must be best buddies for that to be true. 3. use this site, with your location, to help you see all kinds of neat things in the sky. www.heavens-above.com Yes there is info about this comet. Comet info with my location http://www.heavens-above.com/comet.aspx?cid=17P&lat=51.083&lng=-114.083&loc=Calgary&alt=1097&tz=MST "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  4. So how does using a trialer to provide power impact your ride? I am thinking about control issues. Also, playing devils advocate here, what happens if you make a hard turn or fall off your bike? 5. Our annaul dues in CSPA are more but our insurance is higher and as for lobbying, see this post http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2998086#2998086 All that said without CSPA we would have no BSRs, no licencing or rating system, and havoc would prevail. We're better with CSPA than without it.
  6. I am a wonder woman man... she had a pretty impressive rack "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  7. I had 93 kids come to the door tonight... slow year... sometimes in the past I had over 200. A few, very few, of the kids were not dressed up. They were polite and said Thank You when I put stuff in their bags. I don't know why they didn't dress up. Perhaps they are lazy or perhaps there are issues at home that make getting into costume difficult. Perhaps their parents are abusive or just assholes... I hope not, I hope the kids are just lazy but on the off chance... I figure that a candy that cost me about 10 cents is a small price to pay. 8. Slow year - only 93 total "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  9. Maybe the owner of this site would let you post an on-line list... they're covering the skyride scam pretty well already http://funjumper.com/skyride/ "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  10. good point to raise.... this is happening now to us in Canada. It looks like the government is about to regulate skydiving and we don't have, and can't get, much information about what they are going to do to us. Was this because CSPA didn't do a good enough job? Some will say yes and site examples, some from very long ago, where CSPA didn't act as effectively as some, probably a very vocal minority, would have hoped. Others will tell you its because of a non-CSPA dropzone having several accidents that were highly visible to the public and all the bad press skydiving got because of these accidents. Unfortunately the very vocal few and the bad press together are going to see skydiving regulated in Canada and the government has not been very open to working with CSPA to develop whatever regulations they are going to impose on us. 14. You don't really expect anyone on this forum to say that they live in fear do you? Even if fear or feelings of insecurity are the root reason to carry a weapon, I expect that few would openly admit it and would justify being armed with a gun another way. Perhaps it would be hard to consciously admit it to them selves as living in fear is not something pleasant to think about. 15. Maybe you do live in a overly violent society with those stats! "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  16. Thanks for the information about the crime rate among CCW holders being similar to that of large police forces, I didn't know that. I haven't been able to find anything on line, in a short period of time that I've looked, that indicates what the that rate might be. It would be interesting to know. Do you have a source? "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  17. This could apply to me... LOL. I pretty much knew what I would get when I called the original post into question. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  18. I doubt he was actually trying to speak literally for every single person who applies for a liscence. Do you honestly beleive he meant it that way? Nope I don't. But I am responding to what was written and not to any thing I might imagine was intended. My objective in responding to this post was to point out that the original post was an over statement of the facts. Just as all CCW holders are not bad, neither are they all good as is suggested in the original post as written. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  19. Good disclaimer. If it had been with the original post I would have no argument. As I indicated earlier, the concept that all CCW holders are good is just as false as the concept that all CCW holders are bad. But I do have to raise one point in the original post that is questionable in the skydiving community. "We don't get intoxicated in public or hang out around people who do." I guess no skydivers that go to a bonfire after jumping are CCW holders!!! LOL "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  20. So all CCW holders are of good character... except the ones that lie to get the permit. I can buy that. LOL "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  21. The use of the word "many" instead of "we" would be more appropriate but thats not what was posted and what others responded to with words of encouragement. The concept that all CCW holders are good is just as false as the concept that all CCW holders are bad. As such I think that the orginal post is simply foolish. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  22. No, I think some are just trying to come out with their own life if the shit hits the fan. ANother person that agrees with me that the original post is rubbish. Thanks! "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  23. Then we agree that the original post is an over statement with its flagrant misuse of the word "we" suggesting that all CCW permit holders are of good character. Glad to see that not everyone has bought into this rubbish. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  24. Can't argue with that. Do you believe that all holders of concealed weapons permits are only looking out for the best interests of society as the original post suggests? I don't. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
  25. The broad use of the word "we" indicates that you speak for all persons that have a concealed weapon. It amazes me that you can speak for all of them, that you know what is in the hearts and minds of all such individuals. I am sure that many of them feel the way you do but I would suggest that there is a chance that not each and everyone of them hold your beliefs. Of course I have not asked them, same as you. I don't have such a permit, but I do own several guns and don't have a problem with the ownership and responsible use of guns. It just amazes me that people feel so insecure that they need to have guns on their person, but then I don't live in a overly violent society. Perhaps their insecurity is justified or maybe they're just paranoid, I don't know. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
