Just curious, I wonder what would happen in the USA called in it's debts? With the size of the US National debt, maybe it would be more interesting to wonder what would happen if the rest of the world came knocking on the door of the USA with a pay up now notice

Well this is where science is proving you wrong... You're now learning that it was because of it Of course you gotta look at the source. Who's going to believe a pysch prof, with a name like that, from Saskatoon? All I know is that he wasn't one of my profs when I went there in the 70's "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

I can't get into the pub anymore, see the attachment for a picture of what I get. I'm running XP SP2 all patches installed and latest version of IE I've got the latest Java. All pop-up blockers are turned off. I've tried clearing my cache & dumping my cookies. Any more ideas? I feel like I must be over looking something obvious... Says you. That's a personal opinion only. Maybe you just like the way the comparison goes, so that's the one you choose to select. After all, anything that makes America look like the evil Satan, has got to be good! If you go back and look at the definitions of violent crime in the sources I provided, you will see that, except for Canada's "level-3 assault", the definitions are identical between Canada and the U.S. FBI. That's why I went to the trouble of factoring out the unequal part. Just because you don't like the outcome, and don't bother to keep up with the details, doesn't mean that they don't corelate well. If you want to make such an allegation, support it with some information, or expect it to be dismissed as yet another personal opinion. You didn't have to factor out things, I refer you back to this post: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1874104#1874104 It uses a source you supplied and in one table compares Canadian and US rates of violent crime broken into four areas. In all but Sexual Assault the US rates are higher than Canada's. With regard to murder the the US rate is more than 4 times higher. petition for exemption to the 120 day reserve repack cycle denied
IanHarrop replied to jsaxton's topic in Gear and Rigging
Well as Bill said "not all risers are made with the correct webbings" "On mini-rings, flexing the webbing was never really necessary. We left it in the generic 3-ring instructions only because not all risers are made with the correct webbings, and it doesn't hurt anyway." Mine are made of the right stuff so I can be lazy - one of my goals in life -

I missed that, link or something? Derek From the thread about 3 ring maintenance. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1874167#1874167 "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -

IanHarrop replied to jsaxton's topic in Gear and Rigging
Ya, that was more about spinning the rings. From releasing 3-rings, I notice a difference, on the ground anyways, between risers that have been recently flexed and those that haven't. They will still work, but they work a little better when they have been flexed. Either way, the cutaway cables need to be cleaned. Derek Well the first part was certainly about spinning the rings but the second part (and full half of the post) was all about flexing. -

Mini-risers do need to be flexed. From what I understand reading what this poster said (he quotes someone) not all mini-riser need to be flexed... -
From one of your sources http://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/text/pblct/forum/e092/e092a_e.shtml Table 2 (reformated for cause it wouldn't cut and paste well) Victimization Rates for Violent Crimes rate per 100,000 United States (1995) Homicide 8.5 Assault 50 Sexual Assault 15 Robbery 17 Canada (1995) Homicide 2.0 Assault 44 Sexual Assault 18 Robbery 11 --- Perhaps I am reading this wrong but I interpret this show higher rates in the USA for everything except Sexual assault. What I can't understand is anybody getting thrown out of B.C. for smoking pot. If they keep doing that B.C. will be an unpopulated wasteland They grow the good stuff there

Canada's politically correct way to refer to Indians of the North American variety That's what I thought...but that wouldn't that include Inuit? That would be politcally incorrect

You'll find that most crime in Canada is commited by white people In Canada we like to say we're culturally diverse but we're really not. 86.6 % of Canadians are white. As for those that commit crime, these are the latest stats I could find. You''ll notice only 6% of the prison population is black. Offenders are Culturally Diverse On any given day in 2002, there were approximately 12,500 (12,492) offenders incarcerated in federal facilities in Canada. As illustrated in Figure 2, offenders are culturally diverse. Excluding the 78 offenders for whom racial information was not available, about three-quarters (71%) of offenders were Caucasian (8,787). A further 12% were First Nations (1,523), 6% were Black (773), 5% were Métis (628), and approximately 1% each were Inuit (92), Asiatic (88), South East Asian (88), and Arab (71). The remaining were other visible minority groups—Other (154), South Asian (50), Chinese (45), Latin American (44), East Indian (27), Hispanic (19), Filipino (19), Korean (4) and Japanese (2). Will he be perceived as the messenger of God?
IanHarrop replied to EricTheRed's topic in Speakers Corner
I very much agree with you about arguing religion being worthless. Its an emotional issue. People believe what they believe and are unlikely to change their beliefs. None the less, if we ever cross paths I will very much enjoy sharing a beer with you anytime. -
I think its anal to avoid a site simply b/c it uses flash. also intros don't bug me and if i don't care to watch them........i click the skip link....It really is not that hard to do....you just have to not be lazy. Some sites like Aerodyne's are built on flash, not just the intro. Yes they have an html only version but it is not fully functional, by example you can't get to their on-line store unless you use the flash version. As far as I can figure no one that is fighting a war is following Christ's teachings. But everyone that goes to war seems to pray a lot. I understand that they pray for many things, including strength and victory. If they are in fact Christians, and therefore followers of Christ, shouldn't the only thing that Christians involved in a war pray for be forgiveness for not following His teachings. I am not a religious scholar but this is just how it seems to me. "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy -
Depending on where you are it can now be harder to get rid of him. He's now got a medical problem that he blames on the employer. Fire him and a discrimination suit could be coming Edit to add: I wouldn't know whether to be proud or not either "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Hmmm.. let me see. I pointed out that John's stats were wrong in the beginning and that the murder rate is in in the USA is quadruple that of Canada, he figured the rate for murder was only double that of Canada. John asserted that the rate in the USA is inflated by by a factor of 2 because of the "black" element. John also asserted that if you remove the "black" element the murder rate in the USD and Canada are the same. This only works if his original information was correct and the USA rate is only double that of Canada. Read this whole thread. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1800155#1800155 I suggested that someone would be ok but many others - most smarter and/or more experienced than me - believe that the only safe way is to get your reserve repacked when you get there. See this post in particular: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1800757#1800757 "Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy

Weren't you paying attention in the "Bill Bennett" thread? If it wasn't for black crime, the U.S. homicide rate would be cut in half. That means that white Americans commit murder at about the same rate as Canada. Thus, the significant cultural difference is with black Americans. Opps - who wasn't paying attention? From an earlier post: --- According to this site the homicide rate is more like quadruple. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph-T/cri_mur_cap --- So cut it half and you still got double

You gotta dig deeper than the overall numbers.
