a diveing board works fine, so only 10 feet is plenty. ps- FRASCA i think is the biggest and funnest. JK, its just a fun jump. hell, the exit IS a BASE jump, with a lot more freefall. we saw a lot of newbies that have NO freefall at all do a PERFECT 70 meter belly down exit and freefall.

no pictures, that was a while ago. i could draw a diagram though. we wore the harness over a sit harness, the riser release was used to transfer directly to a rappel device. reserve rope was tied into the climbing harness. -SPACE-

i catolouge the rope failures i have had and seen, could you give me some info on how this happened? a picture maybe? i cannot see how a rope could fail on a belayed pendulator. (i know nothing of your setup) please enlighten me! the worst we have had on our rope jumps is a full sheath failure and 4 of 7 core strands severed. but that was a rigging mistake (not me, stupid moe)

ahh.... i see. we have used BASE harnesses for rope jumps, i think they are stronger than rock climbing harnesses. weird attatchments though, and ropes will always hinder the exit trajectory and body position to an extent. but thats cool.

i read this and i was thinking- but then i realised it was a joke, and now im

if you ask me, its not a very relavent question. the differences would be soooo scattered, there would be no point in doing the research. PCA would probably be about a total of 1.5G accumulative, and i would guess it would be fairly evenly distributed between the 4 risers. on a 3.5 sec delay, i would guess upwards of 8 or 10G. probably leaning more toward the front risers. on a slider up terminal, i would say an average of 6G, evenly distributed front and rear. but i dont know much about this. damnit. now i want to test it. I have a load cell i use for rope hucks, maybe i should go to the potato with some super modified risers....

I have posted a few times in other Rope Huck threads that our best jump lines BY FAR are mammut. we put 500ish jumps on one once, and only retired it because we got scared of useing a 2 year old rope. keep in mind that every jump has a 10-100 meter rappel at the end of it, in our systems this is on the lower part of the jump line. and grigris get really hot. Dynamic loading of a rope is a VERY small part of its wear-life. rapping destroys ropes quick, and Maxim ropes were the worst we have ever seen. poor impact absorbsion, and bad sheath life. DEF. Mammut. Best static ropes are sterling. also hands down. Blue water is good value, but they have poor handling.

do you mean, that you used the same ropes for over a thousand jumps? We dont count very reliably, but the two 200 meter tyroleans have seen 7 different systems, and have taken somewhere between 1200 and 2000 rope jumps. the dynamic lines we use as 'jump lines' take 50-500 jumps each, depending on how they are rappeled on. a mammut line we used for 4 diferent moab trips took about 500 jumps, 150 of those 70 meter FRASCA freefalls. we still use that rope as a tensioning amplifier. looks in mint condition. the only reason we retire a line is if it is melted through. (grigris get hot) or the sheath was not twilled correctly and it slips. the mammut line was just, well, old. it still had brand new dynamic propeties (we measure this stuff after every system)

speaking of this year sister, lets be as safe as possible in moab, on ropes or parachutes. i have lost way to much in the way of mobility and freinds so far this year. we all have.

The point was to make BASE freinds in a lot of places. not exclude skydivers. there is 10,000 kids on facebook who have done AFF level one, and in the BASE jumpers group i made, there is 9 that actualy do it. I mean no offense, but skyjumpers are a dime a dozen, and i can find good people to jump with every dropzone i show up at, BASE jumpers dont group in small confined areas like hangers. we have to keep in touch and search for freinds elsewhere. and i like climbing towers with good new people.
-
anyone on facebook? BASE jumpers i mean? there is WAY to many skyjumpers and i really dont want them all to be freinds with me. just a way to keep college jumpers in touch. My search name is 'Calvin Ventus' 10455151@uvlink.uvsc.edu

If you want to know the history of our names for our rope jumps, i could spout it all out, there is a lot. but if anyone really wants to know, tell me and i will post this in a already existing frasca thread, because we are supposed to be talking about enlightenment or some shit like that.

sorry, my sister like me hold a streong case of terrets. or however you spell it. Avenphoto- sister can rap, but i dont know if she can Un-invert (re-vert? re-orient?) a grigri, that takes a bit of strength, and remembering what way to force it. (in a jump on frasca, or any of our medium sized rope jumps like frasca, inverts the Grigri) edited because my sister uses real words, im good at making them up.

Hmmm.... GF asked me that tonight. The Soggiest guy we hucked off was about 230lbs, and we modified it a bit. so, maybe. we should try and keep it under 110Kg. but a tandem is totaly possible. hmmmm... im 64kg.... hmm....
