true, true. Not solo, but my best friend and I did a two day trip up the sawtooth south wall. Just for fun, early January 2000. Freshmen in high school. Asked my mom to drop us off at the parking lot (they still plowed Guenella pass year round back then) at 7PM friday night, and to pick us up sunday evening. Spent the first night at the base of the ~200' 5.3 wall and the second about 500' south of the summit. Did not see another soul the entire time. After summiting Saturday morning we did two 1000' glissades to a frozen lake and climbed the steep snow wall back to camp2. A storm came through that afternoon, nothing huge, but our crappy early 90's dome tent was not up to the task that night. (photo 4) It was no big mountain, but it's fun when you are 14 years old and the high is -10C. We had a cell phone, an early Nokia. Called my pops from the summit (only place there was service). I have a soft spot for Bierstadt. We made two winter attempts on Longs Peaks' cable route in 2001 and 2002. Got turned around at 13,800' both times.

After this incident I would invest, seriously, into a GPS implant (not collar, IMPLANT) for both my cats. Just in case. I know it does not exist and you would have to charge the batteries, but still. GPS!

VERY happy to report that I found my SpaceCatOne three houses down under a deck and a pile of abandoned 'powerwheels' carcasses. She is alive, but has some battle scars. I think she was outside for a week. Cats are awesome. I mean, I suppose I was asking for a dog to help, But I love SPACE!

We have been rooting through some backyards for sure. knocking on doors, etc. I have done a bit of searching for dog forums/SAR forums, not much came up. Anyone know of one for colorado area? I will call the shelter again, this time looking for a dog group.

Hi friends, I need help, advice. My 2 year old indoor-only semi-dissabled cat got locked out of my house last week, maybe during neighborhood fireworks, when I was out of town. Roomates did not notice her missing because she is so shy and the other cat was still using the box/food/water. We are doing the cat box outside/clothes outside/food, talked to the shelter, posters, etc. Of course GF and I noticed within minutes of coming home. It's been 2 days now. I found a place where she was sleeping on the side of the house. Her hair no doubt. But she has not been back since i discovered it. She had a BAD sickness as a kitten before i adopted/rescued her and her head wobbles a lot, and her eyes are very shifty. She is VERY shy. Only comes out when me or my GF is around. I am somewhat confident she can still kill stuff to eat and find water, but maybe not find her way as it has been 5-9 day she has been out. I am not an idiot, I know the stats are 25%, but It is worth being very proactive about it to me. WHAT I WANT TO DO: Find a bloodhound or SAR dog to help trace where she is/went. I know the scent trail is likely dry, but I don't think she would go very far. I have read that this has been done, but all my attempts to contact dog people are shit down. (cops said they only will use their dogs look for drugs and lost children. Pigs. But I understand i guess. all SAR groups are out of reach at the moments. People ARE more important ) But there has to be dogs in training that could use a field trip? amateur trackers? I will pay. $$$ WHAT I DON'T WANT TO DO: never see her again (dead or alive), or think that I did not try hard enough to rescue her. (again).

I think I agree now, watched it from the other angles. Maybe the loaded wing did not stall, but he just realized that the plane was not performing as needed and he made the decision to abort. In the photographs for the ~4 seconds you can see the elevator move to nose-up at about the same time the pitch change occurs, making me think it was a control failure. Also the transitions are very smooth. It almost looks like he changed his mind after rolling inverted and did not have the altitude to recover. I initially did not want to think that there was an error, that act has been performed hundreds of times. They knew what they were doing. Amazing pilot and performers lost.

http://www.theepochtimes.com/n3/125661-ohio-air-show-crash-and-deaths-shows-risks-of-wing-walking-video/ Vivid. Sad. my guess after a few youtube views: If it was not pilot incapacitated, it looks like it could be elevator control failure.

I never liked that thing. The "flying car" claim is cute. It's a marginal execution of a terrible idea resulting in a go cart that can barely drive on the ground and does a worse job at flying. Can't launch or land in wind. Can't fly in turbulence. I'll give them a B+ on the flying frame though. -SPACE-

This photo is making its rounds on facebook. As worthless of a person as he is, I don't think he is a dog fighter. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10200316735592384&set=o.74381110990&type=1&permPage=1 Snopes has it pegged as a fake: http://www.snopes.com/crime/warnings/dogstickers.asp I disagree with whoever made this, He does enough stupid and immoral things, we don't have to make any up. But it still kinda feels like this :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of1bVlo_5Y4to see the tar and feathers broken out.:

Skydive/Paragliding Crossover- any interest?

Done that a few times. I have made a couple freefall deployable sit harnesses and Dbags, and have done Direct bags with my paragliders and speed gliders. -
Skydive/Paragliding Crossover- any interest?
Calvin19 replied to jnick1206's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi friends, I have deployed my paragliders several times from full altitude. (8-16m Speed gliders, 18m acro glider, and 24m XC glider[with >10/1 glide]). legally, using heavily modified paragliding harnesses and custom deployment gear. Also while wearing a complete skydive rig for legal and safety reasons. The logistics of doing it are literally and figuratively heavy. The legal issues are a little muddy, exiting over property where you have permission, airspace clearance, etc. Also, you are in the airspace where your jump plane may be climbing up for another load. It's a high pull that lasts an hour. -
He told the press, his muppet fans/students, and anyone else who asked that the video was not him and it was his competitors on the west coast lying and trying to bring him down. Then he filed a copyright claim for the video. Classy, Dell.

Maybe, but he uses his Mormonism as fuel and defense for his battshit. It comes out sticky. http://mormoncurtain.com/topic_mormoncelebrities.html -SPACE-

I wouldn't give one fuck if he goes in. Same. he is infamous in the PG world. The feeling is nationwide. His antics spread outside the sport as well. VERY conservative, VERY religious.

my wingsuit dealer measured me VERY inaccurately for a V1 in 2005. Suit ended up being built for someone 2" taller than me. Instead of waiting for a re-build I took 2" out of the booties. I then did about 150 skydives and 200 BASE jumps on it until I gave it away in 2010. Flew fine, IMO.

Hey friends, I have a newer (~2010 I think) Barigo altimeter and the three of the four screws fell out. Anyone have any idea where I can find them? I have tried a few hardware/fastenall stores and supposedly these screws are "hand made in switzerland".

I have jumped a 320 big boy student rig exit weight of 170. Still above .5/1 but it was not a problem. Front riser forward speed was pretty low. If there is no wind, not a big deal. Just slow. If they let you do it, go for it. Also jumped a 350' BASE canopy in Twin Falls. Not a problem. Exit weight was probably about 160. Swooped it and everything. NBD. -SPACE-
