  1. New bests : On SF3, I will repeat what has been said before; The performance difference between the GTI and the SF3 is huge. Longest flight : 3 Mins 16 secs from 15.2K to open canopy at 3.2k, 42 mph avg. at SDC when the temps were in the mid-low 40s on the ground. Thick air. Slowest average : 38 mph(2 mins and 40 secs from 13.3K to open canopy at 4.5k). This was in Houston, Tx. Pretty thick air also. These numbers were not reached by trying to slow fall. I am certain it was not best glide either. Kris.

    GPS ?

The GPS logs altitude, it is not a barometric altimeter though. The mapsource software however does not plot altitude and position together. Kris
  3. I have you beat on the 80......easy . I seriously considered driving as far as Georgia or North Carolina to do some jumping but laziness won that fight. Kris.

    GPS ?

From my experience I would say, do not buy a vista. It is a pain in the butt to mount and too big. Get a forerunner(or foretrex 201), these are small units and you can wear it like an alti on either wrist. I used to wear my foretrex 201 on my right wrist (pull hand). With the S3, I wear it on my ankle facing the sky. Happy Logging, Kris. Edited to add : The GPS performance of the Foretrex 201 units is quite good.
  5. I think it has to do with technique. Manbird got over 100 secs with the combo. Give it a few more jumps, you will improve. Read this thread in the BASE forum. Good Luck and long flights, Kris.
  6. Nice !! Looks like it will be a dull few months for us in the midwest. Kris.
  7. I doubt it. Most of these kits can only repair surface(the transparent one) scratches. Even then it is a pain in the butt. You have to be real careful when you do it. I guess having a lot of patience also helps. Kris.
  8. Anyone jumping at SDC tomorrow? The temps are cold but otherwise the weather looks jumpable. Kris.
  9. Thanks Tom. That is the info I was looking for. Question : I want to make a few Balloon jumps with the BASE canopy packed in a skydiving rig. To get a feel for slider down subterminal openings. 42" PC o.k for this? Kris.
  10. Wait till you see a pic of me wearing that thing . This will be a walk in the park. Kris.
  11. What on earth is this thread doing in the BASE forums anyway?
  12. I was playing with the pics to see what a royal vampire suit would look like. Did'nt think it would be that easy. Royal and white with white zippers
  13. Just to set the record straight, I did NOT make a contribution. I got in touch with her thru email but I never got off my lazy butt and do what was needed. I am glad she did it. A kick in the butt to stereotypes, no? Kris.
  14. Where did you get this info from? That is a great price. Kris.
  15. From the news page on www.flybirdman.com. Kris.
  16. Let us not confuse the two issues here. Eric's issue is different. The issues that you mentioned have happened to other wingsuit pilots and we can reason as to why they do. IMO, It happens because the Neptune registered a very slow rate of fall for an extended period of time and thinks you have deployed. Have you not noticed the neptune go into canopy mode while flying your suit around? Kris.
  17. This post by Manbird explains it. According to that, the older versions of the neptune used to log the jump as soon as it sensed descent(or some similar algorithm). Now the neptune does not log a birdman jump until it senses a downward speed in excess of 38MPH(from my observations). Please check with your friend if he has the latest firmware for the Neptune. Kris.
  18. After debating a lot whether I should try BASE, I finally decided that I will try it after proper preparation. I very recently ordered an all F-111 BlackJack 280(). The plan was to put about 50 or so jumps on this canopy(skydiving and baloon) before taking a BASE FJC. After some more thought(provoked by reading a post on BLINC), I have decided to get a BASE specific 220 or so as my regular canopy. I can put a bunch more jumps that way and practice packing all I want. The mirage M5 that I have will fit a Spectre 210(Zp 7 cell) but with Dacron lines, I don't think a 220 BASE canopy will fit in the container. Or will it because the bag is gone. Kris. Edited for grammer /spelling.
  19. I want to jump over the thanksgiving weekend and the weather here in Ann Arbor, MI looks like it is going to be Bad. Does the weather look jumpable anywhere close(500 mile radius) to here? Houston weather is good but the trip will cost me almost $50 a jump. Kris.
  20. I will be ordering one. I will be having 3 suits and one rig(and potentially no money to jump in AZ), that just does'nt seem right. I know that I will keep the S3. Maybe time to let the S-Fly and the PC-109 go. Kris.
  21. One of my coworker's son visited our office today. Dad: This is chris. He is a skydiver. .... later while the Dad and son are in the car. Son: Dad what's skydiving? Dad: It is jumping out of seemingly good airplanes. Son: Why?? Dad: I can't tell you why son. .... .... sometime later ..... ..... Son: I will become a skydiver when I grow up. Dad: You can't do both son!!
  22. The triax-BD04.avi looks like there was a D-bag, anyone know if he was jumping a skydiving container? edited to add: I am trying to figure out why the PC and the bridle did the whole rotate like a stick in a tube thing. Kris.
