  1. Oh, sure, you'd turn down a Chevy Manta. Moller SkyCar quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  2. You are living in an alternative reality http://clivebest.com/blog/?p=2208 You should really take a look at figure three again. I realize you probably too a look at it already and it's probably where you've drawn your conclusions from. It's also a great example of fucking with graphics in order to have them support a pet hypothesis as opposed to being honest. Can you spot the shenanigans? Please see attached. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  3. FIFY. Please, people. There is a reason we have the 7-year rule about retired military officers servicing as SecDef. Congress voted to waive it for him, so let's show they made the right decision, and we can all see him as a cabinet member now, not as a general officer. I wonder what official protocol says? I know generals get to keep their titles, but since SecDef is higher does that now overrule? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  4. This is a lot like how I feel about "libertarians". They are people who claim the don't want regulations. But what they really are is people who only want the rules that enable them to retain and/or increase their own status and wealth. Society would not work without rules. It has been said that a libertarian is simply an anarchist with money. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  6. Yep, the reason is simple; those who can help put them in power can also help take them out. Better to get rid of them before they become an issue. You'll notice how "loyal" Trump was to Christy for hanging around and supporting him all during the election. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  7. I'm not so sure. It would be an admission by Trump he has no idea what's going on. When has he ever done that? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  8. Can this even possibly be true; that Bannon slipped his NSC EO authorization in under Trump's nose and Trump didn't even realize what he was signing? 9. Taylor, Grant, Eisenhower didn't hold any political positions before being elected. They were, however, very involved in the government since they were generals. Taft and Hoover also were never elected before, but both were in government. Taft as Secretary of War under Teddy Roosevelt. Hoover as Secretary of Commerce. Trump is unquestionably the least experienced President the US has ever had in terms of government service. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  10. I'm aware Obama killed via drone strike a US citizen who joined Al-qaeda in Yemen where we have no extradition treaty. Honestly, I don't give a fuck. Once a person actively joins a terrorist organization fuck 'em. Who did Obama detain without trial? Or are you thinking of Bush 43? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  11. Don't misunderestimate the idiosyncrasies of old GW. What do you have against George Washington? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  12. Well, I think a case could be made for Andrew Jackson, but even he wasn't as much as and even then he frickin' earned it. He was an actual tough bastard as opposed to simply a rich one. Nixon was an asshole, but not the kind Trump is. At least Nixon wasn't a public asshole. He knew enough to generally put on polite face in public. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  13. There have been other controversial Presidents. None has had such blatant disregard for the Constitution he was sworn to defend or principles behind it. None, to my knowledge, has taken office then instantly went looking for war. Not even the Bush 43 Administration did that and it had members who had been pushing for war during the previous Administration. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  14. Your polling options do not cover a wide enough range of views, nor does it cover the differences between people who may or may not be personally impacted by the decision. Your poll is far too simplistic. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  15. That is perhaps going a bit too far. If this is an actual soldier with PTSD or whatever making him lash out, he's probably already paid a pretty hefty price regardless of what we might think of his writing. On the other hand, this may be simply an X-Box warrior poser. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  16. Iron Mike is a name for statues of service members. So, not just a pseudonym, but a pretentious one. Check. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  18. I think they've done the socio/political calculus and have come to a different conclusion. You're free to disagree, but that doesn't mean you're right. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  19. No. What I'm suggesting is sometimes people reject the philosophy of other people for reasons other than what you're suggesting. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  20. Yes and no. There are, in fact, some things to be concerned about about Neil Gorsuch when it comes to certain issues; women's contraception, religious "freedom", energy issues, a defendant's right to council, use of police force, the concept of "walk and talk". Don't be so certain this is just about SCOTUS "balance." My guess is these would be large enough issues that even if the court was currently held with 8 liberal judges, questions would still come up about Gorsuch. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

  23. I don't think you understand the program. https://www.dhs.gov/countering-violent-extremism The program is currently designed to combat ALL forms of homegrown terrorism and gives support to local law enforcement agencies. In other words, it's an admission by DHS that in order to deal with the issue it can't just be the Feds dealing with it; it has to be all law enforcement all the way down to the city police and even non-government organizations. quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
  24. You do realize that in a lot of situations the rush to "do something" is just the flat out wrong choice; right? quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
