The funny thing is that after AFF Level 4 (floating exit), I now don't feel so intimidated by the door. That exit was SO MUCH easier to contend with than the crouched one. . . Hey Bob, I only got a wimpy turn to the right and a pretty good turn to the left on AFF 2. . .exit was fine, except I was pushing Dan out the door because I just "needed to get out of the plane" or I would change my mind right there. Trust me, every jump gets easier. I repeated Level 3 because of that funny feeling pull handle (aka JM's Altimeter). My 2nd time through Level 3 was much better and level 4 was GREAT. Now if I could just learn how to flare properly. . . You did great. 1:2:0 Had a great weekend. . .repeated Level 3 AFF and did Level 4. Passed both this time. Level 4 with Brian was the most fun I have had skydiving so far. He came around in front of me and made faces to make me laugh. . .a great skydive. . .lots of fun. My skydiving buddy bought me a pair of really nice clear goggles so I wouldn't have to wear the student ones. . .no problems with vision in them at all and the best part is, they were completely invisible in my photos and video. . . The pay for nurses out here is EXCELLENT. . .You can also get some EXCELLENT sign on bonuses. . .There are great hospitals here in San Diego and some pretty nice housing. . .the best part is you have 3 dropzones all within an hour drive. . .Skydive San Diego, Elsinore and Perris. . .and some of the best beaches in So. Cal are right here also. . . All I can say is. . .WOW. . .2004 could turn out to be one AWESOME year. . .a license to jump out of perfectly good airplanes, skills camps galore, a DC-9 at Perris and a damn tunnel. So. Cal. could not get any better. . . First of all we must define the word Atheist. . .this term refers to belief that higher powers and spiritual beings simply do not exist. There are really no true atheists in the world because everyone worships something. I am new to the sport so I really don't know the true statistics of how many come to the dropzone and actually stay with the sport. . .I do know how I felt. . . On AFF level 1. . .my very first jump ever, just getting in the door of the plane was so damn nerve wracking I thought I would never do it again. . .once out and stable. . .Oh my god. . .I knew I would be back. That was a good thing too because I had paid for the AFF program in full. . .now I have done jump 2 and 3. On 2 I was more nervous in the plane but felt great outside of the plane. . .jump 3 was just a good feel all the way around. . .it was after jump three that I knew I would be hooked for life. . .there is this little wave of "holy crap, I am about to jump out of this plane" feeling as I approach the door for my jump, but once in the door, I cannot wait to get outside. . . I know it is not for everyone and certainly didn't think I would ever do more than a tandem. . .I am glad I chose to do AFF instead of the tandem just because of the feeling I got. There was a guy at Elsinore this weekend. . .a paraplegic. He has done 3 tandem skydives. I find it quite odd that a government that cannot wait to get their hands out of the school system (like they did with the post office and the energy companies) would want to then put their hands back into some other piece of the puzzle to run. . .Our system isn't great but it works and I get to keep more of my salary in my pocket because the government is not controlling it. . .That being said, there are lots of ways for the government to improve upon the social welfare systems that provide insurance to the poor and working poor. . .but as usual, the government can't even run itself. . .how is it going to run healthcare. . . Hey all, I got in level 2 and three this weekend. Two was good but had a pretty good biff on landing (trouble with flare). Three (release dive) was absolutely awesome. . .once my instructors released me and I was on my own, I felt absolutely fabulous. . .It was so nice to stay on heading and hold steady in the air. . .what an absolutely great feeling. . .landing still rough and didn't pass because I couldn't find my handle to pull so one of my jumpmasters did it, but not a bad day for me. . .I loved it. . .
