  1. What I said was this: What is "ergonomic equipment"? Left-handed tractors? That was intended as humor, not sarcasm. It's hard to believe that that simple joke, has led to all this controversy. Some people see what they want to see, rather than what is actually there. Do I need to start peppering all my jokes with little smiley faces for everyone to understand? Well, that is a Grouch for your picture isn't it? 2. I wanted to be a lion tamer, but was encouraged to go into banking. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  3. This would make my newest cookbook, 50 Ways to Wok Your Dog, obsolete. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  4. Not to get off topic (though this one is definitely more interesting), but I thought the manufacturers dictated such rules, and that they strictly prohibit night tandems. Is there a manufacturer that allows them, or is this a purely rogue activity? 5. Must not report anything but registered sex offenders for our area. I put in an 8 month window (the most it would allow) and opened it up for ALL crimes (including vehicle stops), and still got 0. 6. Be interesting to know their criteria. They must not include DWI's because it returned 0 crimes and I am certain that is not true. The biggest danger in our area is the idiots who drive our rural roads with incredible complacency. 7. There is a certain childish cuteness to it, the kind of gullability kids display when they still believe in Santa. But then every once in a while a statement comes out that clearly indicates delusion. For a person this deluded, the content is not really relevant. It's not like he will eventually learn anything from specific arguements the way a kid will eventually figure out reindeer don't fly and that there are logistical issues with visiting every house in the world in one night. What is worth exploring is their state of mind. We should be asking him about his childhood, his feelings, his relationships, etc; not debating physics, engineering, or politics. His statements are firmly grounded in emotion, not knowledge. Understanding what is driving those is the key, and that is not going to happen over the internet, even if some people here do have the qualifications to decipher what is going on in his head. I say delusional because it does not appear to be just the usual case of needing to feel in on a secret, or belonging to something special. There appear to be strong elements of paranoia, indicating deeper issues. A true understanding of what is behind the emotions driving his thought will never be obtained in a relatively anonymous (and highly confrontational) discussion. There is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, you could say or do that will change his thoughts on the topic, because the topic is not really the issue. 8. How many are on meds for emotional or nuerological problems? Any that are outright cooped up? It's not difficult to find a tiny fraction of the population to buy into nonsense due to their paranoia, social dysfunction, or some minor nuerosis. Why is it that almost without exception, the people I've met that think this crap might be true are, at the very least, just a bit wierd? Many are obviously more than weird, but very rarely do they come off as a normally socially functioning person. Always with the strange gaze, more closely resembling the typical streetcorner soapbox lunatic than anything else. So they've found 1000+ nuts? So what? I could go find at least that many that believe in The Ark, Atlantis, astrology, maybe even the Easter Bunny. Only thing it proves is that a small percentage of humans are loopy. Oh look look look! I got a thousand people to sign a statement that they believe JFK is alive and well and living in Argentina with Adolph Hitler! 9. You just do not need to spend a lot of money to get to the heart of the matter. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=125x56836 " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley

  11. Couldn't follow your link; but did you use explosives on a Jenga set? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  12. How silly of them to use all that equipment and time when all they needed was 5 minutes with Rhys. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  13. Another noisy fringe group. Wonder how they feel about animals (other than humans) that practice homosexuality? Seeing our male Schnauzer trying to hump our male Maltese would probably make their brains go POP! 14. Nice one! Next time you play, try taking all your blocks from one side, leaving the other side complete, see what happens! I think collapsing skyscrapers are more like Don't Break The Ice, falling straight down. If you stare at the videos long enough (and are capable of hallucinating at will) you can actually see the big blue plastic hammer tapping out one corner of the tower. 15. See, now that is really fucking funny. It's been a long day, kinda tired, slipping into off-to-bed mode; and then I get treatred to a nice chuckle. 16. Wait for it, wait for it, . . . AHA! There it is, the appeal to emotion. Served with a dollop of politicalization. Touche! You've convinced me. 17. Some of Rhys' mates have, apparently, interviewed many of these eyewitnesses and decided that while a plane was indeed in the area, and while it was indeed flying very low towards the Pentagon, it was on a flightpath such that it could not possibly have struck the Pentagon at the right angle to cause the damage observed. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have been able to find any witnesses who saw the plane flying away from the Pentagon again after it was hit by whatever else it was actually hit with that wasn't the plane. Rhys does not appear to think that this is a problem. Ya know, when you hear some of the explanations from truthers, you just gotta laugh. Which sets them up for the "Yeah, you just discount us as fools but can't seem to prove anything; you turn your back and laugh instead of looking at what's in plain sight." arguement. But how can you not laugh at the convoluted stuff that some of the questions elicit. I mean that one is so bad it almost isn't funny. A plane, in the area, not seen leaving the area by anybody, but seen hitting the building by quite a few, and which did leave debis identifiable as coming from a plane; did not hit the building. Instead, it was some other thing, which nobody saw enter the area, which nobody saw hit the building, which left no debris; that hit the building. That's fucking funny. 18. Isn't there a quote somewhere along the lines of "The internet has done more to further the cause of human idiocy than any other invention"? There certainly should be! (Tenacious little buggers as well, aren't they) For certain the internet has been a huge boon to hoaxers, spreading of CT's, ripoffs, etc. The CT's especially had very little traction in the mainstream until electronic media became essentially free. It was relegated to occasional fun pokes from comedians, ads in the back of fringe publications, and the like. Now anybody can make official looking and official sounding noise slick enough to appeal to . . . Best stop there. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  19. If someone is still on the "Where's the plane that hit the Pentagon" level; any credibility they had just hit zero. Many people actually watched as the plane come in low, clipped light poles, skipped on the ground just before impact, and hit the building. There is absolutely no mystery about it. Denial at that level reveals more about the person than the story. 20. So the use of explosives to weaken the structure somehow increases the force of gravity? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  21. I'll bite. Let's say it did fall at freefall speed part of the time, then slowed down, then sped up again; or any other bizarre combinations of acceleration and decceleration you care to claim. How does that support a conspiracy versus the published report? " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  22. The most solemn suggestion I can come up with for "honoring" him would be to put his likeness on a Quija board. Hoping the public has learnred their lesson about electing senile grade B movie actors to the highest office in the land. 23. It's too bad all those scientists over the generations that molecular and evolutionary biology has been around wasted their careers. We'll need to get a memo out to them ASAP informing them that all of their work was in vain, and that they need to start from scratch on a whole model. It's amazing that the most resistance is met by the one field in biology that has been studied and scrutinized more than any other. A very strong indicator that people are arguing from emotion and a preconcieved notion of what they want the answer to be; not from observation, evidence, experimentation, and analysis. 24. [replyY'know I've never understood this hostility to "fundamentalism" The word simply means basic or essential. Would you fly with a pilot who did not respect the fundamentals of powered flight? Cheers, Jon The reactions you see regard Fundamentalists (capital F). Apologies if that was not clear, and I'll try to properly capitalize to reduce future confusion. " . . . the lust for power can be just as completely satisfied by suggesting people into loving their servitude as by flogging them and kicking them into obedience." -- Aldous Huxley
  25. How is it possible to remove all of the structural integrity before the building collapses? That's sounds like an impossible task to do even if you're not hiding it from billions of people. Doesn't it seem more likely that your premise is false - either it didn't fall at "free fall" speeds or it doesn't take a full loss of integrity to have a rapid collapse. Now when you or your 1100 engineers say it fell a free fall, what is the value we're talking about? 0.99g? What is the error range of this estimate? And what do you think would be a valid value if this wasn't a massive conspiracy? From the interviews and materials I've seen, the speed claimed above freefall speed is very small, and well within the error range of the methods used for calculating it. In other words, if we accept the upper limit of the error margin, it is possible for them to make their claim (though it provides definitive support to neither side of the arguement). In other other words - their "evidence" supports nothing other than that the building came down in a hurry, at about freefall speed, plus or minus a tad. Given that, and with no evidence of localized additional gravity or any Wil E Coyote device; claims of falling faster than freefall are all wet.
