  1. Sure he exists. My fiance is all of those (no drugs at all, though, and we WANT to get our SCUBA cert.).
  2. Fresh Kettle Corn...... Mmmmmm
  3. That thread was locked? Why? Lame.
  4. I don't know if the saying: "You're not losing her, just losing your turn." ...is sad or funny. It seems to be true for a lot of women on dz's (or so I've been told).
  5. Ah ha, that's the problem with your reasoning. A plane's thrust does not come from the wheels like a car does. With the scenario you presented no, the car would not move anywhere, however, that is not the case with an airplane.
  6. No, that is not the scenario. The conveyor simply makes the wheels spin twice as fast as normal. By definition, if the plane is stationary, the conveyor is stationary. That is the initial state of this scenario, from there the plane starts moving forward relative to the ground, with the wheels spinning twice as fast. I think this riddle is good at showing how easy it is to assume things not in the original problem statement. With that clarification, that the conveyor belt is only running at the same (albeit reversed) speed as the plane's movement over the ground, then yes - the wheels will spin faster and the plane will still take off. What part of the original question confused you to say it wouldn't take off?
  7. Explain why you think the hypothetical plane will be able to take off. A plane's thrust is created not by the wheels but by the prop (or jet engine), and the friction of the wheels would not create enough drag to overcome that thrust, therefore, the plane will still pull itself forward, eventually creating enough lift to leave the ground. Now, how do you explain why you think it won't take off?
  8. Why's that? The Harrier vectors engine thrust downward and can take off like a rocket, or a hovercraft - it doesn't require aerodynamic lift over the wings. I know how Harriers take off, just wondering why you thought it would only take off if it was a Harrier, which is incorrect.
  9. That is incorrect. The plane will be moving forward creating airflow over the wings. Nope - the conveyor belt is keeping the plane from moving forward relative to an observer to the side, therefore no movement relative to the air mass. No movement, no lift. Why do you think the conveyor belt will keep the plane in one place?
  10. That is incorrect. The plane will be moving forward creating airflow over the wings. Well, since we're talking pure theory without a actual practical application: IMO thats not correct. The rollng of the wheels on the threadmill will create a very small backwards force due to the rolling resistance of the wheels. If the threadmill is going fast enough, that force could in theory create a counterforce equal to the thrust of the engine. (in practice, the wheels and bearings would probably burst in flames from the speed tho lol) The wheels would not create enough drag to overcome the thrust of the engine.
  11. No kidding. Regardless if it was a Harrier or not, it would still take off.
  12. That is incorrect. The plane will be moving forward creating airflow over the wings.
  13. Why do you think there will be no air movement over the wing?
  14. It's irrelevant. For argument's sake, we'll say the wind is calm.
  15. **I searched for this and found nothing, so forgive me if it was deleted or something** A plane is standing on a runway that can move (like a giant conveyor belt). This conveyor has a control system that tracks the plane's speed and tunes the speed of the conveyor to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction). Will the plane be able to take off?
  16. Pilot 117 - teal, purple, and white
  17. I thought we weren't allowed to post porn?
  18. I think I liked the old site better. More options.
  19. Nice body, but I don't think he's that attractive.
  20. I can't tell if this is a joke post or not so I'll give an honest answer. Sounds like you didn't really "like" her from the start, you were in lust. Now that you've slept with her there's no more challenge. If you did have feelings for her you wouldn't say "I'll try to not hump her again". Talk to her about it, maybe she'll be cool with just a fuck buddy, if not, you don't lose anything, you already aren't into her.
