We say this sport is self policing....
CReWGEEK replied to funjumper07's topic in Safety and Training
I still get pin checks on every jump,(fun, tandem, instructor jumps)). In the last few years I've seen this practice disapearing at most dz's I have been at. I have even heard people say if anyone touches my gear I will kill them. I guess we have to go full circle again ( wreak some planes or people) before it becomes the thing to do again. -
Jumped a new one when they came out, worked great, a while later, jumped an older one, wasn't so great.
-
What would you want one for?
-
When I first started jumping the cost of the load was divided between the jumpers on the load. One jump or a thousand, it was divided equally.

I work in construction, lose this persons number.Any good trades person would not treat you like that.

Turbines are great, but there is nothing like sitting in a C-47 with 40 or so other people heading to altitude.

Due to weather, BC drop zones don't get a lot of jumping between October and April. Lots of rain.

Of course god jumps, he wears a black jumpsuit and black rig and junps at Lodi.

When I first started doing tandems I wore a leather frap hat. One one jump I ended up with 11 stiches in my ear. Now I wear a hard shell helmet.

If you only have goggles that have holes in them,I use a hot glue gun to seal the holes up.

The drop zone I jump at has become a tandem factory and experienced jumpers now come 2nd. The tandems are what pays for the big plane & the facilities but experienced jumpers are where the instructors come from, they also provide the good vibes that students see when they come out for their first jump( this is a sport I might like to join). A lot of experienced jumpers feel like the dz is no longer any fun and don,t come out a lot, the laughing and having fun is not always there for the students to see. Personally I feel it is up to us to make the dz fun but sometimes its like banging your head against the wall. Now we have a shortage of instructors, the instructors there now are doing a great job of dealing with the work load I do not know how to fix it other than to try and rally the experienced jumpers (some are already trying this). The owners and management are very busy,so it is up to us to try and keep it going. Just a thought
