  1. Romans 13 Be Subject to Government 1Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. I'm surprised you have never seen this before. People who join the military are subject to the governing authority. If the government declares an enemy and orders me to kill him, I am obligated to obey. yeah... when our pastor gave a sermon on Romans 13 a few weeks ago I had to stop him in the hall and discuss it with him "never question the rule of law and be subject to the authority of the government" was his message. I suggested that if it were not for some men 235 years ago (this sermon was early July) that decided not to place themselves subject to the authority of the government, that he wouldn't likely have been allowed to start this church last year. I got the 50m backpedal... "well, there are exceptions... uh... I...". -- Rob
  2. you were the one leaning on your shift key. That's where the emotion came across. it came across that I struck a nerve. Usually when I do you respond my calling me a neo-con (as you did here). Actually you use that as an insult a lot. It's kind of boring. You should come up with something new. I don't see where appearing sociopathic fits in to this. I don't think that word means what you think it means. -- Rob
  3. Right, textbook Libertarians share fiscal right views and moral left views. Now, it plays out like this: - Libertarians RW fiscal ideals 90% LW moral ideals 10% Hope that clears it up. I think their nametag can be flipped around to display the other party, this is done for cost savings since they seem to switch so often If you wanna sit there and claim the the RW isn't generlly concerned about killing social welfare; you're nuts. If you wanna sit there and claim the the Libertarian Party isn't generlly concerned about killing social welfare; you're nuts. They have the same agenda: KILL SOCIAL WELFARE AND CUT TAXES. FRom there they differ a little. That's what I love about you. a calm, non-emotional discussion... oh wait... I can expect more of that from my wife. My mistake. -- Rob
  4. so there's no difference in the party ideologies? You're not that dense. I know. I've seen you recognize the differences. Mostly I've seen libertarians running as republicans, not republicans running as libertarians. So it might be more accurate to say the opposite, that voting republican might mean you're voting for a libertarian candidate. -- Rob
  5. I lit my aunt up when I pointed out to her that Islam is one of the 3 Abrahamic religions (with common roots and worship the same god). -- Rob
  6. where's the poll about "who gives a shit what religion the president is?" -- Rob
  7. you keep labeling me... incorrectly even... You've gotten it right once, you must just be trolling me. in any case... I got the basic math in first grade. (maybe kindergarten... I don't remember that specifically) And I thought THIS was the asylum. Maybe I should get the doc to up my meds. -- Rob
  8. implying that the lefty politicians aren't maggots? -- Rob
  9. insight and substance.... yeah you're in the wrong place. very little of that here. -- Rob
  10. I think 10 is a record... even for him. must be a slow night... I empathize. -- Rob
  11. "porchmonkey" unless you're "takin' it back" -- Rob
  12. believe it. there's plenty of stupid to go around. Enough for both sides of the fence. -- Rob
  13. and you would support taking guns away from all law abiding citizens to prevent this from ever happening? -- Rob
  14. I wish these rifles would be imported. They're incredibly expensive right now and this might bring the price down. I'd love to have one. -- Rob
  15. so the president isn't responsible for the actions of his staff? At least not this president? -- Rob
  16. yeah, I'm sure nobody EVER drove any car other than theirs when they were intoxicated. clearly if they don't own a car, they cant drive drunk... it's impossible right? -- Rob
  17. so you mean that with greater risk comes greater reward? that's an earthshattering concept!! amazing!! -- Rob
  18. as absurd as that (and this) argument is, would you be upset about the opposite? -- Rob
  19. well, I was listening to his guest, who recounted the results of his interview with the substitute teacher, not BillO. Like I said, it was the claim. I think that if it were true, it would be a bad thing. I responded the way I did because from your reply, it looked like a kneejerk quoting of "well everyone can pray in school on their own time" as it didn't look remotely related to the video. -- Rob
  20. did you watch the video bill? The claim is that the prayer time is on the school schedule, and is led by a school employee. That's the claim. I don't know the truth. None of us here do. (we weren't there) -- Rob
  21. ...and then there's the rest of the world... When it comes to driving in traffic . . . LA is pretty much as hard core as it gets. I've seen worse. And much less ordered too. Taipei was insane from the back of the cab. DC is pretty bad, and Houston too (in it's own way). -- Rob
  22. everyone deserves to be equally miserable :) -- Rob
  23. hey look... the thread really did belong in SC in the first place. :) -- Rob
  24. The last time I read an analysis on that point, was about 18 years ago in KS (including KS income tax) and I believe the final effective tax rate was 51%. And the article mentioned that it didn't address how prices might fall if the businesses were taxed less, because it was difficult to estimate that change. (and they made their point already) certainly spending less is a big first step. -- Rob
  25. well, I hadn't intended it that way, but you take it however you like. I find no point in complaining about it at this point. There are plenty of folks doing more than enough of that already. I'd rather get on with my life. I suggest you do something similar. (Unless, that is, the exciting part of your life IS complaining about political issues that are already passed) -- Rob
