That's not what news is for. Factually reporting about something someone did rarely offends people, unless it's overly descriptive wrt some subjects. Using a news outlet as a means of hurting those who "need their feelings hurt" is a misuse of that media. and he wasn't on a news program at the time. -- Rob

I didn't watch because I'm really not interested in any of them. I'll probably vote for Glass even though she has some crazy fucking ideas about school funding. Her ideas (even as posted on her website) are incomplete wrt education funding and property taxes. I like her ideas on some other issues, but I'd consider it a vote for none of the above. It wouldn't scare me if she were to win, but I don't actually WANT any of the candidates to take the office. -- Rob

ok... we can probably even find US legal precedent for minors who were involved in crimes through fault of their parents being exonerated. kids dragged here didn't commit the crime of entering the country illegally. Because of the situation they are in, many end up committing ID fraud of some sort though while trying to get a job. That's a different problem. -- Rob -

I'd be interested to see this article and see what they were referring to. Because the tax on smokes right now is some amount per pack right ? Do smokers claim that on their income tax as a deduction for tax paid? And even if they did, it's still been paid to the state that levied the tax. If they're talking about a federal tax on pot, that would imply federal legalization. Are we drifting the conversation that way? -- Rob -

if they pay non resident tuition, I don't think there would be any problem. But imagine for a few seconds, that you're in this country illegally, lying to just about everyone about your residency status. When it comes time to fill out applications for college, are you going to claim that you've been in-state as a resident long enough to get in-state tuition, or are you going to tell the truth and pay international student tuition rates? -- Rob -

I dislike any law that tells me what I can or can't do with my personal property. However I see the purpose behind this law. I think if they're going through the process of warnings already, another alternative might be: flagging an owner as negligent in locking their vehicle could result in fees being paid for recovery if their car is stolen as for it being twice as good if it pertained to private property, then I see serious conflict in your "tired of the nannys" subject line. You want nannies to tell you that on your private property you have to lock your car, but you're tired of them... How about if you don't lock your car, expect it to get stolen, and if you want the cops to recover it, you pay them. -- Rob

it's been a few years for Boston. even more for DC. DC impressed me how people were going 70 with a few feet between cars. Boston impressed me with their complete lack of regard for lanes. I was thinking more of the general case. but you can pick the straw man negative example if you wish to poopoo the whole idea. :) -- Rob
