This is "interesting" timing. http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/11/zimmerman-girlfriend-shopping-interview-for-money-prior-to-911-call/ -- Rob

last time I flew into Chicago it was through MDW. That place always smells like raw sewage. Is it in a septic tank area of town or something?? Security line is a bitch at that place too. Glad I have "fancy status" on the airline I flew. I didn't get much chance to be touristy. Ate some good pizza, got upgraded to the presidential suite at the hotel, went to a meeting, flew home. Was an overnight with an early meeting. -- Rob

read up thread bill. this has all been hashed out over the last what, 9 pages? here, I'll rehash it again for you. hispanic guy stalks black kid through his neighborhood because he looks suspicions. ignores suggestions of 911 operator and gets out of the car. black kid, meanwhile, has circled around after noticing he was being checked out. Jumps hispanic guy, fight ensues, hispanic guy, fearing for his life, shoots black kid. Local cops question hispanic guy, and neighbor who saw the fight. Release hispanic guy without charging him. The court of media quickly and without facts convicts hispanic guy, important black guy pulls strings to get local cops to press charges. DA does half-assed job, hispanic guy found innocent. result? shit ton of butt-hurt people everywhere. (9 pages of butt-hurt just here) NEXT!!! -- Rob

I've been to many of these. With a few exceptions, the saying "It's a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there" applies. But if you're searching for validation of your choices... maybe that's something you need. Perhaps you've found it in that article. -- Rob

so what you're saying is that we can't believe promises made during election cycles? Really? shocker!!! we can start stacking up the lies on both sides of the political fence and see which stack is higher, but the shameful part is that both stacks will be too high. -- Rob

from what I've read, this is a proposed "administrative change". How is that going to effect passed legislation? It's not. He's basically saying "yeah... that's the law... but just ignore it for now." It's my feeling that if we have laws that are better left unenforced, they are bad laws (yes, I mean this in general, not just this case) and should be removed. -- Rob

though the printer and material for the printer cost more than outfitting a machine shop, it's still pretty cool that they did this. All the way down to printing the rifling in the barrel. http://www.guns.com/2013/11/12/solids-concepts-3d-printed-stainless-steel-1911-500-round-torture-test-video/ -- Rob

damn! you sound like an old married woman. Except you are much more repetitive. -- Rob

So why don't they just stay in Cypress and not bother going to Chicago ... if they need a pizza that bad .. send out for one. you ever tried to get decent deep-dish in TX? -- Rob
-
It seems you've been asserting that Cypress, TX is a dangerous place to live. Where does any city in TX place on any of your lists? Let's see... your top 100 has Texarkana at 38 with chances of becoming a victim 1 in 78. That's the only TX city on any of your lists. The same page lists Chicago as 1 in 97. Seven cities in IL on that list (including number 1). Gee... isn't that odd in a state that requires a license to own a firearm? -- Rob

I feel bad for the guy who was violated. Do you think he's all butt hurt about the situation? dude needs to get his shit straight -- Rob

was missing a character in the URL. Yes... I think they took it a little too far. -- Rob

The deficit is decreasing: but taxes are highest ever.
rhaig replied to OHCHUTE's topic in Speakers Corner
whenever I start talking about national debt (mostly bitching about it after a few beers) someone usually pipes up with "But the deficit is down under Obama!" and I try not to pound my head against the table. Yes, they are very much different. And until it gets to the zero or surplus levels you mention, the debt will only get worse. As a friend of a friend used to say "Morons Abound!!" -- Rob -
Obama's approval rating is the lowest of his tenure

set achievable goals for our president. Nicely done. Next? -- Rob -
For something as earth shattering and vitally important as a description of a movie plot. Yes, more time and money should have been spent on the research. Really? Is your case THAT thin? -- Rob

So we agree that it's a cultural problem. You just want to blame the gun, while I feel it's the blame of the acceptance of violence being the answer to conflicts. so once you "increase the penalties for possession" implies you've banned or licensed ownership. You skipped the part where all the violent criminals turned in their guns to avoid these stiffer penalties. Oh wait... that's because it won't happen. there would be no LEGAL production in your scenario, but to believe that nobody would produce weapons is a rather simplistic view. What you're essentially proposing would turn into a police state (more so than what we currently have) and wouldn't address the violence in the culture. We have a violent crime problem. Not a gun problem. We disagree on that second point, but the first is pretty universal. Your "solution" starts with a grand "reprogramming" of the culture to remove the acceptability of firearms. Yet you don't take the step to realize it's a violence problem. As with many gun grabbers, you're focusing on a symptom. Too simplistic. -- Rob
-
Right... so back to Chicago. What would you do to make that environment go away? You know... all those violent criminals have guns and it's very difficult to legally own and be proficient with a gun in Chicago. How would you make it so there isn't an environment like that so the cops wouldn't have to react the way they did? -- Rob
-
Ok, let's take Chicago then... how would you eliminate that environment where all those violent criminals already have guns? Serious question... What would it take to remove guns from the thousands of violent criminals in that city? What would you propose? -- Rob
-
you can stay... just over there. No... further. No... a little more... keep going... -- Rob

Volt circling the toilet as sales fall by 38%

Sounds very libertarian of him. And I think 330bhp might be compensating for something. But hey... as long as it's big enough for you to enjoy it right? -- Rob -
so just to be clear, you are taking a group labeled as opposing something, adding them to a group that supports something, and labeling it ALL as support. You have a promising career ahead of you in politics. -- Rob
-
This makes it appear as if you're defending the "left wingers" being referred to. That implies that you're ok with the "yeah, we did it, but they did too" defense. so are you ok with over-spending because it's been done before, or are you just mudslinging? -- Rob
