  1. Yep, and the problem is that it's more in our nature to conquer the weak than to help them be strong.
  2. OK, so then what explains all of the starving people we already have? Food is one component, delivery infrastructure is another.
  3. Initiative almost always wins the day even when faced with a new culture and a new language. In America even those who support a strong social net do so in a somewhat limited way. Who here, for example, is willing to give up 50% or more of what they earn to feed only the hungry in America? Someone might chirp that they would but the caveat will be that it has to be the same for all and that is just not happening. I don't think it's a problem our species can solve without giving up on the idea of equal rights for all. That is: we'll feed you and house you but the choices are all ours and you'll live by our rules or else. Like the rules kids live by. But we can't do that, so that's out, too. Now, it's true that the concept of a basic income has some merit but just wait until there are enough takers on the dole to form unions and demand more. Imagine a Million Peasant March on Washington or mass sit in's on Wall Street. I wouldn't bet against the possibility.
  4. Indeed. We too often have abhorred, with our traditional dissonance, the fecundity of those we would welcome into our nation at a time when we need low level workers. And that group of us includes liberal cantaloupe eaters. But then here we are, encouraging our own kids to reproduce by offering them financial support while wondering where their kids might work in a future economy. Certainly, we have no worries because our kids will be the smart kids, I guess.
  5. Might be the only solution is an Alien Visitation (assuming they also have free food recombobulators) or, probably better, a big ass meteor. If we ever find one on a Slim Pickens trajectory and big enough to squash us we'll deserve the outcome if we don't name it Jesus.
  6. First, so now we don't have greenies, we have brownies? No matter, excluding the possibility that clothes and food won't appear free of charge Star Trek style by pressing a button on a transconfabulator, what percentage of a nations GDP might you guess is acceptable to provide sustenance and housing for the incapable?
  7. Not having children who then have grandchildren might.
  8. Allies all. Any way you cut it the world is going to hell in a hand basket.
  9. Our Brazilian friends laugh at our political travails. They say we'd never make it in Brazilian politics because it's not for beginners.
  10. Just random info from a lifelong learner.
  11. The charade is tedious. Our #1 objective today must be taking out the Kerch bridge in a serious way. It's not useful to let our impatient populous think about anything for more than a couple of weeks. Give the Ukrainians the ATACMS bridge busters now, damn it!
  12. Yes, so maybe don't buy your lubes at the auto parts store.
  13. Sure, and that's encouraging because so few really want to go the distance. That there are yet no lithium powered sex toys is, perhaps, the best evidence.
  14. Carter, You are asking for help. Diesel reached out and made an incredibly generous offer to help you find that help. Take him up on it.
  15. You couldn't be more right: damn horseless carriages!
  16. Not for the prediction, although it's wrong, but because your world view is so rearward looking.
  17. lippy, as ever you get to the crotch of the matter. So, Lydia needs Beetlejuice to help her but the price is some tit rubbing and weenie working which frees him up to cause chaos in the right wing world. Damn if not once again life mimics art.
  18. Well, no one wants to claim they have extensive experience with a small sample.
  19. I probably don't have sufficient experience to comment but is it really that hard, or perhaps not, to know if you're squeezing a Republican weenie or a Democrat weenie? Maybe someone here can tell us if it's at all possible to know. If there is no way to tell maybe Professor Boebert has shown by experiment that there is common ground and a way to get along, that would be nice.
  20. Wish in one hand and crap in the other and guess which will fill up first. Profiling and excluding some folks isn't the most awful thing we can do in this day and age, methinks. Yes some innocents will suffer by being excluded, but maybe other innocents won't. We live in a crappy time that requires crappy choices.
  21. Making legitimate observations does not equate to finding fault or negatives; the simple fact of the matter is that most jumpers like a bigger door if they have a choice. So as long as we are talking pilot stuff, how many loads a day are you good for in the King Air? I've done 36 loads too many times in a Super Caravan and, at least for me, the novelty was long gone after load 20. Yes, the King Air is a less expensive platform but, like a Caravan, the landing gear wasn't built for that number of cycles, especially true of retractable gear aircraft, and you also have the cost of two engines. So your total maintenance must be somewhat more expensive.
  22. Does anyone have any updates on this disastrous bill that USPA needs us to oppose? For that matter are there any updates on whether USPA's policy of encouraging underfunded brand new DZO hopefuls to encroach on established DZ markets is under review? Maybe the USPA "We're not too good at thinking Committee" will issue apologies to the DZ's that couldn't afford to stay alive in a Part 135 environment because USPA assisted so many new DZ's to take market share that might have allowed them to hire Part 135 coordinators.
  23. We don't. For all we know he dumped her for being a lousy lay. What we do know is that I had a happy thought that put a little light into my life and you are peeing on my parade.
  24. Yep, she dumped him upon learning he was an LGBTQ friendly Democrat. We do have our standards, it seems.
  25. For my part, I am fully embarrassed for BIGUN, airdver, Brebt, BillE and every other plain clothed rightie that posts here.
