    I rarely vote republican, but I do like McCain better than Obama and will probably vote Republican this time. (I know I'm outside of your stated parameters...lol) I am DISGUSTED by the religious right. BTW...several years ago a friend gave me a bumper sticker that said "The Religious Right is Neither."     Do you think that all of these poor people, people with serious mental illness, minorities are all in prison because they really are guilty more often than the more affluent folks?     Half truths are still half true. :) Have you ever thought that maybe there's a reason you are required to tell "the whole truth" and not "the half truth" in court. Rumors circulating on the internet aren't quite the same as testimony under oath. It's the nature of gossip to be embellished and changed over time, so even though a rumor may not be the whole truth, it's not necessarily a lie either...just rumor.     I think they do fare better in the legal system, but not because they get a break, but because they have better legal representation.     There is less lock-stepping on the left than the right. That's only because of the tendency of *some* people to categorize a person as a neo-con as soon as they have a thought that falls out of step with an extreme liberal position.     Spam, corn, and beans! (creamed corn and pork & beans). We grew up on it. A few years ago, my brother was through my house on Christmas Eve. He was getting ready to leave to go to my dad's when he realized that I was making spam, corn, and beans. His eyes got big, and he said, "Spam, corn, and beans? I haven't had that in so long!"     The clump of cells, whether developing into a human or not, isn't sacred to me. A woman's life and wellbeing trumps it's right to become a person. In the case of a rape, I cannot stretch my beliefs about this far enough to justify, in any way, our government forcing her to carry a pregnancy to term that resulted from the rape. I can accept that some people believe differently. For those people, aborting the fetus would be wrong.     It behooves those who wish to procur an abortion or who wish to sustain abortion rights to ensure they are NOT terminating the life of a human life. A big problem with that argument is that whether it's a human life or not just isn't the issue for many. Your belief that human life is sacred, even when it's no more than a clump of cells, isn't shared by all. Your religious beliefs (if that's what forms the basis for your opinion here) has no bearing on me and shouldn't be the basis for laws that affect decisions about me and my body. linz -- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.     In other words, you are either pro-choice or anti-choice. Blues, Dave I have not probem with being called Anti Choice, Anti Abortion, or Pro Life. Why do Pro Abortion, Pro Choice, or Anti Life (No one uses this one) have a problem with being called any one of these. I don't have a problem with you calling me those things, but they're not accurate.     Do you think that a newborn that is thrown in a dumpster and dies within an hour truely has "knowledge of its own existance"? Killing a newborn is not early termination of a pregnancy. There are a lot of qualities that a newborn has that separate it from any other two cells with half a set of chromosomes each. And yes it has knowledge of its own existence. It feels.     Life starts with conception. Even if it does, so what? It still has no feelings about its own life, no knowledge of its existence. It has NOTHING, other than a little more potential, to separate it from any other two cells with half a set of chromosomes each. So early termination of a pregnancy isn't causing it any kind of pain.
