  1. What? I used to like someone named Skymama. At least tell me you like chunky and not creamy...
  2. Actually, I disagree with you. Merchants that agree to accept credit cards at all also agree to accept them for merchandise and service at the same rate as cash. Technically, the DZs that have separate prices (all of them I've seen) are in violation of their contracts with their credit card merchant account holders. They ought to see this as a business expense like any other, and factor it in accordingly. Businesses that want to give people the flexibility to pay with credit cards (and the ability to overspend the cash they may have) at their establishments have promised to honor the credit cards fairly and equitably, which they are not. They expect us to honor contracts such as waivers, but do not honor theirs with the credit card companies. A small bit of hypocrisy. All that said, what do I do when I go to the DZ? I almost always pay cash, to get the lower price. I'm realistic enough not to think they will change. But as a nitpick, I had to explain that it is wrong. I won't even mention this to a DZO, or person running manifest, because I like to jump. Dropzones have enough to worry about without me (or anyone) making this into a big issue.

Good question. It is so hard to find good employees these days...

BTFU, Remster. We couldn't have the match because the contestants didn't show. That is hardly my fault. Besides, you never even bought a ticket, you cheap bastard, so why do you care?

Thanks, Lummy! While we are at it, any other volunteers? We could have other matches. If we had enough volunteers, we could do a March Madness sort of thing.
  6. Okay, Spectre230. Whatever you say.

    Ladies' choice. I'm not pushy.
  8. Jim, There must be a happy medium. I agree that grades are not the be-all and end-all of a child's future. Far from it. Mine were mediocre and look at me. But at the same time, I believe you do have to push them. Not all kids want to acheive even a modest level of academic success that can be considered "acceptable", so they have to be steered in the right direction. Otherwise they might have lasting problems down the road from a temporary phase they are in.
  9. I can just see one of the cards: Hurricane knocks out your power! Go to "Offline", go directly to "Offline", do not complete the post you are writing.
  10. Secret Jedi powers, evidently. That was pretty impressive.
  11. Maybe it will last longer if we keep her in the refrigerator.

Remster is right. That one is my fault. Check my signature carefully.
  13. You mean they don't stay at like 2 feet and 25 pounds of smiling googly love forever?
  14. Right... Try to blame it on Betsy. You evil, evil man!
  15. So, since Karen has her own name on the list, am I to assume that the "Remi +1" means that you will indeed be bringing your moose?
  16. See, I had it easy. I didn't have to break thermometers. I just had to push the little button thingie on the mercury dispenser. Yes. We had a pond at our school. Chemistry was fun.
  17. I don't see the personal attack either. I see a number of posts by various people that could have been worded better, but no fork-worthy personal attacks.
  18. I had some fun toys that were on the unusual side: Plaster of Paris Mercury (very rarely) X-Ray Machines Imagine the fun you get to have when you are a kid and get dragged to your parents' dental office. Whenever people tell me I'm strange, I blame the mercury. What's your excuse?
  19. I buy most everything online. Music Computers Videos Original Art (like in my avatar) Pet Supplies Electronics Clothes Books Insurance Education (online classes) Brewing Supplies Hobby Equipment Skydiving Gear Toys etc. I end up getting dragged into the mall about twice a year by some family member. Other than that, forget it. If you are a careful shopper, you have very little to worry about. I've never had a major problem or gotten screwed over by buying online.
  20. I said about the same thing about mayor Marion Barry in Washington DC. The fact that they elected him showed their poor judgement. That the inevitable occured and he abused his position was tragic. The city is still recovering from the damage he did, both to reputation and infrastructure. If Schwarzenegger gets elected, it will be because that is what enough Californians want, like you said. I just hope your outcome is better.
  21. So your "proof" is a website whose "About Us" page states: Do you think you could find any more biased website? If honesty and impartiality don't mean anything, you can "prove" anything you want to, by your standards. I could support the fact that blacks are inferior, by linking to the homepage of the Aryan Nation. (Not that I think that.) Once again, do you have any proof? You haven't shown any so far. A self-admitted Conservative website pushing their own agenda doesn't count. Please try again.
  22. So, you'll be at the office tomorrow? Hmm... Mapquesting to Kevin's house... Kidding.
  23. How much clearance is there under your desk?
