  1. no one ended up doing a birdman no the high alti stuff... i did free fly instead... must have been something to do with it being 32degF on the ground at 8:30am.... maybe that's why the plane was mostly full of scots.... crap being home... weather is crap... cloud is crap... temperature is crap... If it's safe it ain't fun
  2. well the scots are here and we are lined up for the high alti stuff on Sun AM. I did my 5th birdman and 1st in the states yesterday following a long chat with Asaf and it worked a treat, deployment was perfect... Asaf if you post here cheers for your help mate!!! great flight, nice views etc... nice place this Z-hills, can anyone employ a mechanical engineer with oil industry experience so i don't have to go home....... 4. hey nick, hows the foot coming along??? we're all heading off to z hills da morra for 2 weeks of mayhem... be nice to get away from the 4 inches of snow currently covering the car!!!! got the wing suit and have done 3 lobs on it... scary but fun none the less... strath looks ace at low speed!!! exit way past the t junction and make it back to the dz no worries.... u gotta try it!!!! If it's safe it ain't fun
  5. Cheers mate, I did the hard arch etc but my not have brought my legs completely together... will make a point of touching knees next time and keeping the head up. Did I read your post right where you are saying deploy and keep the arms out until the bag is off your back? I was told to throw the pilot chute and then immediately bring the arms back in to my sides (hence with my arms by sides and legs together i felt a bit wobbly) I am hoping to do a load of coached jumps with BMI's at Z Hills when there at the end of this month...only 4 days away!!! cannae wait!!! If it's safe it ain't fun
  6. -15degC @ 10k to be exact and that was sitting at the back of a C206 with no door for 40mins!!!! anyway, that was Wingsuit jumps 2,3 and 4 (too cold even for scotsmen after that, it is draughty standing round a DZ in a kilt after all ), my first on my new GTi and they went well apart from #3. I had a bit of a wobble on deployment and got a number of twists, got the zips off while another 2 twists went in and kicked everything out, had deployed at 5.5k and was all sorted soon after. I was reading some of the other threads (new to the site) and noticed mentions of dynamic corners. Could someone explain what these are and what they are for? I was also looking for tips on deployment position, I deploy and arch hard but reckon by keeping my arms and legs together is causing lateral instability leading to me being able to roll onto my side. What have other folk found to be their optimum deployment style (i am sure everyone has their own technique). On my next lobs I am intending to leave the legs about shoulder width apart to try and minimise any instability. I am jumping a TSE Superfly with a Spectre 135 by the way. incidentally it may have been cold but the view of the highlands with the snow coloured peaks and getting longer than usual (bar the 40min trip up) to watch them was excellent. thanks all If it's safe it ain't fun
  7. I'll be off to the gym then! If it's safe it ain't fun
  8. during a quiet moment at work i started crunching some numbers re the distance and time aspect for the hi level jump assumption is that air at 16k is ok for normal breathing, exit is 22k, open @ 3k, average speed 50mph 22k to 16k = 1.14 miles @ 50mph takes 1.36 mins (82 secs) time of falling in poor O2 Total dive time from 22k to 3k @ 50mph = 4.3 mins (260 secs) bloody hell I think these numbers are optimistic given muscle fatigue etc... even at 80mph average the dive time would be 162 secs nearly 3 mins. sounds........interesting.......
  9. Hi there, myself and 15 other Scots are heading over to Z hills for some fun on the 30th of Jan for 2 weeks , we had heard there may be some high alti w/s stuff happening, there will be about 4 of us on wing suits. I have done 1 w/s jump but will be doing many many more when i am there, other guys are more experienced and will also be wanting to do the high alti stuff. blue ones Russell C100057
