Hey guys, Is it possible to do a 360 flat spin in a Wingsuit? I've had two flat spins, but not exactly controlled, or an a manner I'm keen to re-live.... I'm jumping a phantom 2 and can do barrel rolls and front and backflips without any dramas but can't quite figure out spins. Any ideas? M

Ankle injury - Ruptured ATFL
iwasinkheson68 replied to iwasinkheson68's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Yo guys, A couple of weeks ago i topped off a normal landing by putting my foot on some seriously rutted ground and rolled my ankle pretty badly. No fractures, but I've just returned from getting it ultrasounded and the results are suggestive of a ruptured AFTL. I've got my next doctors appointment scheduled for monday which, happily, leaves me a couple of days to stew on teh idea of maybe being out for a lot longer than initially anticipated. I appreciate that the ankle is a complex pit of chaos, ligaments and despair and that no two injuries are identical, but does anyone have any experience of anything similar? Thanks, Mike PS by 'stew' I probably mean sit on my couch and get drunk. -
Rawa Image/Vision vs. 2K Fuzion Freefly
iwasinkheson68 replied to Psychonaut's topic in Gear and Rigging
I don't have anything constructive to add, but the fuzion, as well as being a ridiculously stupid name, has to be the ugliest helmet ever made. I would rather duct tape a cow's skull to my head and mount go pros in it's eye sockets. I'm sorry not to have anything useful to say, I just had to get that off my chest. -

C182 turnaround times
iwasinkheson68 replied to iwasinkheson68's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey guys, I've not jumped a cessna from anything higher than about 5k and even then, not for a while. I was just wondering roughly how long the turnaround time would be on a 182 narrowbody with four people on board to 10k? Does it climb significantly slower as you reach 6k or maybe 8k? I'm assuming a standard/most commonly fitted engine and taking off from sea level in 30 degrees C. Thanks, Mike -
Awesome guys, thanks for the responses, I really appreciate them. I'll check out the videos tomorrow and see how I go this weekend. And I can track like hell thanks, doesn't mean I don't want my canopy to open on heading though.

Hey guys, I've just bought a second hand sabre 2 150 and while I'm really enjoying how it flies and flares I'm having a little trouble with openings. I've done about 20 or 30 jumps on it so far. Rarely has it opened on heading, it normally spins around 180 or more and I've had line twists more than a couple of times. It's not been anything other than flat and level in twists, but still. Does anyone have any packing tips which may help alleviate this? I'm experimenting a little as I go, at the minute I'm rolling the outside 4 cells a few times and leaving the centre cell exposed. Generally I quarter the slider into big chunks, especially over the nose. I've tried a few variations of this but not much seems to affect the canopy's desire to fly towards local points of interest that I feels I may benefit from knowing about. I load it at about 1.3. I have 1000 jumps, most of which were on a spectre 170 at around 1.1. The canopy has about 350 jumps on it altogether and the lines seem to be in reasonable condition.

Cookie flatlock adapter on mindwarp?
iwasinkheson68 replied to Bazzy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hey dude, I spoke to Mr Cookie himself about this. I jump an old bonehead which i think might be a mindwarp (about seven years old, percursor to the Gunner?). I've been wantnign to upgrade from my old setam powered pc105 to the cx100 and hoped he'd say, "yep no worries, in fact, just for asking me, have a flatlock, on the house, also here's three hundred dollars to spend on jump tickets." Sadly, he didn't. Even sadder, he said mating the flatlock to a bonehead would be pretty difficult as the flatlock is designed to fit Cookie helmets perfectly and any twisting or distorting of the mount makes the whole flatlock inoperable. Basically, with hopes and dreams dashed on carbon fibre rocks (or indeed, carbon fibre Roks), I'm now planning on just getting a new helmet, rather than adding stuff to the other stuff i've added to the extra stuff i've added to my helmet. I should say i asked him this in person with my helmet in hand and there was discreet but definate twisting of the flatlock to get it to mate with the helmet. I'd also like to add, to counter any negativity this post may imply, Cookie is a seriously cool guy and I don't doubt he'd go above and beyond to help. m -

Tube exit from a 182
iwasinkheson68 replied to ryan_d_sucks's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
we did a three way off the step for my 200th, i sat on the step, on half an ass-cheek, with feet and sundry limbs criss crossing everywhere. we spent ages working it out on the mock up, but pulled it off (all first-timers from a 182) with no problems. nb as we were mocking it up the DZSO came round the corner of the hanger and started laughing at us, and i suppose, our dreams. -
they have a 12 year lifespan. If it's 1997 are you sure it's not a cypres 1?

my first chop was nasty nasty spinning line twists on my 134th jump. I'd been worried about how I would react, whether I'd do everything right, but when it happened emergency procedures were automatic and I was pretty chuffed with myself for being calm throughout. It was a relief to know that it was out of the way and I didn't need to worry about it anymore. You'll probably feel a lot better if you can demo your reserve, already knowing how it flies would take heaps of pressure off.

best books on skydiving
iwasinkheson68 replied to seadream91's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
it doesn't have alot of practical infomation in it, but batmen, birdmen and skyflyers by michael someone or other is excellent. It's mainly about the progression of wingsuits and some of the characters behind them, but is a really good read and offers some fantastic insights into the early jumping pioneers. I'd really recommend it. -

iad progession method
iwasinkheson68 replied to iwasinkheson68's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've not heard of it in the uk or Oz, another thread said it's not done in holland, is it mainly in the states? Is it more or less common than static line over there? -

iad progession method
iwasinkheson68 replied to iwasinkheson68's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hey guys, There is a thread at the moment in the incidents forum involving a student screwing up an iad jump. I've heard of this method before, but never seen it or jumped at a dz where it's an option and was wondering why it was used instead of the more traditional static line? Is the progression similar to RAPS? Cheers, Mike -
thanks guys, i get the same with my mobile too, i guess it's just that. maybe i'll move onto chroming lead-based paint instead. cheers, m
